Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Vice Principal Erix

"The airship is preparing to land! All apprentices are prohibited from moving indoors."

"Repeat."

"The airship is preparing to land! All apprentices are prohibited from moving indoors."

The eerie voice of the food-delivery puppet echoed throughout the airship. After nearly a month of travel, the apprentices had finally reached their destination—Black Tower Wizard Academy.

Richard sat quietly on his bed, having fully restored his magic over the past ten days. Ellie had also completed the construction of her magic reflux and learned all the zero-ring spells.

Kevin's recruitment attempt made them realize that facing the exam alone put them at a significant disadvantage.

So, when Ellie finished her magic reflux, they formed a defensive alliance.

"Richard, what should we do next?" Ellie asked, sitting on her bed with the bag given by the wizards clutched tightly in her hands, her knuckles turning pale.

The upcoming life-and-death struggle filled the girl, who had never killed even a chicken, with fear.

Even though she was now a wizard apprentice.

"What else? We kill," Richard replied casually, as if the impending battle was as trivial as dining out.

Boom!

As soon as Richard finished speaking, the room shook with the loud sound of the airship landing.

"The airship has landed. All apprentices, gather your belongings and disembark in order."

Richard and Ellie picked up their things and exited their room, lining up as instructed by the recruiting wizards to disembark. As they did, the skeleton wizard who had distributed their bags handed each of them a belt filled with vials, each containing a green liquid.

"Looks like these are the nutrient potions," Richard thought to himself.

Outside the airship was an open field, dimly lit. Dozens of magical airships were lined up in the sky, their massive bodies blocking out the sunlight. Beneath their shadows, tens of thousands of apprentices formed a large square formation.

Richard followed the line into the formation. Above them, a white-bearded wizard in a black robe hovered silently in the air.

"Zeppelin-type airship 050 has arrived, 198 apprentices enlisted," reported Taylor, the leader, bowing to the floating wizard. With a nod from the wizard, Taylor silently left.

"Silence."

The floating wizard's voice was not loud, yet it reached every apprentice's ears.

Richard looked at the wizard, a deep-seated fear gripping his heart.

Although this wizard did not exude any aura, the impression he gave was distinctly different from the recruiting wizards.

Could this be a true wizard?

"Welcome to the 432nd entrance exam of Black Tower Wizard Academy. I am your Vice Principal Erix, and your examiner for this exam.

The exam is divided into ten arenas, each with a thousand participants. Each arena will have ten magical beasts, equipped with magical artifacts prepared by the academy. Apprentices strong enough may hunt them.

Further rules are on page 32 of the admissions manual. Those who haven't checked can do so now.

Now, begin the exam."

With a wave of Vice Principal Erix's hand, beams of light appeared beneath the formation, interconnecting to form a complex geometric pattern.

Richard looked at the lights beneath him, a flicker of panic crossing his mind.

Would the exam scatter all the apprentices?

Buzz!

A buzzing sound filled Richard's ears, and the scene before him turned into an abstract painting of colors, leaving him dizzy.

"Is this a teleportation?"

Richard quipped, the nauseating dizziness surging up his throat.

After three or four seconds, the scene before Richard began to settle, revealing a lush, primal forest.

Richard leaned against a tree, retching up some bile. The teleportation had not been a pleasant experience.

"Misled by those nobles, the idiots didn't know the specifics of the exam. Now I just hope Ellie can be ruthless."

Muttering to himself after vomiting, Richard saw beams of light shooting skyward.

These brilliant beams were visible even in daylight.

The locations of these beams were where the apprentices had to reach within fourteen days.

Richard fastened the belt of vials around his waist and set off toward the beams without wasting any time.

The academy's rule required apprentices to reach the designated location within fourteen days, suggesting early arrivals were permissible.

The sooner the exam concluded, the sooner the safety, a principle Richard understood well.

...

As the teleportation ended, the forest, dormant for ten years, buzzed with activity as the exam began. Thousands of apprentices sprang into action, displaying their skills and racing toward the towering beams of light.

Rayleed struggled through the forest. As a gifted knight's squire, his robust physique and the wizard's potion allowed him to move shortly after his injuries. Unfortunately, as the potion's effects waned, relentless pain tormented him.

The agony seemed to taunt him, reminding him he was no longer a man!

"Bastard, scum, once I learn magic, I'll torture you, then kill you!"

Exhausted, Rayleed leaned against a tree, cursing loudly.

His bloodshot eyes and gnashing teeth reflected his hatred, which, like a hallucinogen, dulled his nerves and conjured visions.

For instance, he saw the figure responsible for his emasculation emerge from the forest.

"Ah, a familiar face. Looks like I've found my crystal ball," the figure said, seemingly pleased, raising an arm, and Rayleed saw that dreaded blue light again.

The light that had castrated him!

It wasn't an illusion!

He really had encountered that scum!

Terror surged through Rayleed, prompting him to flee.

Though he cursed Richard incessantly, every night since his injury, he awoke from nightmares of Richard and that blue light.

Richard had become his nightmare.

Now, the nightmare had materialized.

Bang!

Off the airship, Richard showed no restraint. A magic missile shot from his fingertips, cutting a straight path through the air and striking Rayleed's head.

Richard watched as Rayleed's head caved in, blood and brain matter splattering around him.

"Ugh!"

Richard felt a wave of nausea, almost retching.

Anyone familiar with killing knows that the first time often induces dry heaving from intense fear and the shock of a bloody scene.

Though Richard didn't feel fear, as someone who had never killed before, the pungent smell was overwhelming.

After retching for a while, Richard collected Rayleed's crystal ball and nutrient potions.

Now equipped with these, he could focus solely on reaching his destination.

After gathering the item

s, Richard rifled through Rayleed's pockets, finding a black, diamond-shaped crystal saturated with magic.

"Is this... a magic stone?"
