Chapter 143: Post-Event Report
The next day.
When I arrived at the meeting place that Claire told me in advance, she was already waiting for me there. She was wearing a light-cream colored cardigan on a white shirt, added with a light blue long skirt, which looks great for her calm demeanor.
“I made you wait, my bad.”
“Good morning, Amane-san. It’s not even the meeting time yet, so it’s okay.”
“I see. So, you have something to tell me, right?”
“Yes. But since it would be weird if we talked while standing, let’s go to a café.”
At Claire’s suggestion, we entered a nearby café. I ordered a milk tea and Claire ordered a café au lait.
And when our order arrived, Claire suddenly began to speak.
“First of all, please allow me to express my gratitude once again for yesterday’s matter. I have heard the general flow of events from Yagami-san. It seems it would have been difficult to win against the extra boss if not for Amane-san there. That is why, thank you very much for protecting them.”
“You are welcome. However, is it fine talking about something like that here?”
“I used a soundproofing skill, so the other customers can’t overhear our conversation. Please, rest assured.”
To think she even has such a skill… I was a little surprised.
“Let’s get back to the topic of dungeons. After that event, realizing that the dungeon had a difficulty that could even destroy an average A-rank party, I alone captured the Onizuka Dungeon and investigated the mechanism of that dungeon in detail. So, I thought it would be better to inform Amane-san, who was present at that event, about the result of my investigation.”
“I see. I am certainly interested in it.”
… It may be useful as a reference when I am going to do the usual repeated-capture on that dungeon after all.
“There are three aspects that differentiate Onizuka Dungeon from ordinary dungeons. The first one is that the magical power that floats throughout the dungeon contains regeneration properties. Thus, because the more powerful the magic stone a monster has, the more magic power it absorbs, the probability of the regeneration or resurrection to happen also becomes high.”
When she said it, I recalled there was certainly such a tendency.
“The second one is the monster parade that occurred on the 30th floor. It seems, numerous monsters will appear and attack you if you stay on that floor for more than 10 minutes. And the last is about the irregular room that awaits you if you try to escape from the monster parade. And if one enters that room, they have to fight against a level 40,000 extra boss, the High Ogre, just as Amane-san and the others experienced.”
And here, Claire suddenly added, “However”.
“In exchange, if one actually dare try to fight against the numerous monsters without entering the room, it seems the outbreak could be stopped, but after killing around 1,000 monsters.”
“… Perhaps, Claire has actually tried it?”
“Yes”
As if it was natural, Claire nodded. Fighting against 1,000 level 10,000 ~ 20,000 monsters at once… It made me recall my experience at the Isolated Demon Tower, which gave me a headache.
But perhaps for Claire, it might’ve merely felt like wiping out mobs. Then, while I strongly realized the difference between us, Claire continued.
“If one goes down to the bottom floor without fighting the High Ogre, naturally, there is a normal boss room on the 60th floor, which is the lowest floor there. In there, the normal boss of that dungeon, a level 25,000 Ogre, will appear. The capture reward given after defeating the boss is only a hardening pill that could reduce damage received by 20%.”
“Looks like there is a difference in that, because the one I received after defeating the High Ogre could reduce the damage received by 30%. And if there were other differences, it should be the level-up rewards, right?”
When defeating the High Ogre, including the bonus reward, my level was increased by 300 in total. So, I think in the case of the Ogre, it would be 100 levels in total.
As I thought about that, I suddenly wondered.
“This might be none of my concern, but I think isn’t it fine if Claire wasn’t the one in charge of investigating that dungeon? I mean, I don’t think the dungeon has enough worth for an S-rank adventurer to receive a re-challenge intermission because of it.”
Although the number is limited, there are some dungeons in Japan where one can get level-up rewards that greatly exceed 100 levels. Because I know that, that kind of question entered my mind.
However, hearing that, Claire looks a little troubled.
“…. Including that, it’s the role of someone who belongs to a guild after all. And I understand that too, so, Amane-san doesn’t have to worry about that, you know?”
Claire said that, like saying something that she had prepared in advance.
“Then, that’s fine….”
If she already said like that, it wouldn’t be something I should meddle in anymore. As follows, I lifted the cup and drank the still-warm milk tea.
“So, is that all?”
“No, those are just the thanks and the post-event report. Now, to start the real issue–however, it’s actually personal…”
Claire fixed her posture and looked straight at me.
“Amane-san, could I ask the reason why you wanted to be an adventurer?”
