Chapter 3: Chapter 2
In an unknown place, a white portal opened, throwing out a child of about ten years old. His figure was frail, with no trace of fat. He had dark scarlet hair, striking blue eyes, and a pleasant face that would be hard to forget once seen.
He wore an old white robe, torn in several places, and nothing else. This boy was Eros, the "Savior of Titan."
"Huh?" Eros exclaimed, staring at his hands and touching his face. "What the hell? Why am I so small? And… MY POWER?!" He could no longer feel the strength he once possessed—the strength to lift buildings and destroy everything in his path. "All over again!? Are you kidding me?" Enraged, he kicked a nearby tree with all his might.
Crack.
"OUCH! IT HURTS! My leg!" Eros screamed, grabbing his injured limb. "DAMN TREE! As soon as I get my power back, I'll rip you out by the roots and burn you to ashes!"
If the tree could think, it might have been surprised by the boy's behavior, considering he was the one who attacked it first.
"Okay, I need to calm down," Eros sighed, letting go of his leg. "Maybe my brain's gone crazy after so much time in the dark. I'm talking to myself… and threatening a tree," he muttered, a bit saddened, as he looked around his surroundings.
He was in a forest of tall, lush trees that blocked out most of the sunlight. A fresh breeze brushed against his skin, bushes grew thickly nearby, and the ground was covered in vibrant green grass. The sight was mesmerizing. "I haven't seen beauty like this since my first life. In my last one, I couldn't experience such serenity," Eros thought, a trace of nostalgia softening his expression.
Rustle.
"What's that?" He turned to see four children emerge from the trees: three boys and a girl.
"There he is!" shouted the oldest boy, pointing directly at Eros. He had dark red hair tied in a ponytail, fiery eyes, and rough features marked by a scar on his cheek. He wore simple white pants and a sleeveless T-shirt.
"Don't let him escape!" the boy barked angrily. "Do you even understand what you've done!?" He pointed at Eros with fury. "Because you escaped, three of our brothers were killed as a warning! They ordered us to bring you back, or they'll kill the rest!"
Eros was shocked. These were just children. Yet the boy spoke of such horrors. What kind of monsters could inflict such pain?
"Rick! Stop!" the girl suddenly shouted. The children halted, just a meter away from Eros.
"What's wrong, Lily?" Rick asked, confused.
"It's not him," the girl replied firmly.
"What do you mean, it's not him?" Rick said, stunned.
"I've seen Leni many times. I'm telling you, this boy isn't him," Lily explained, her tone resolute.
"But then… Where is that bastard? We've been searching for him for three days and found nothing!" Rick shouted in frustration. A ball of bright orange flame ignited in his hand, which he hurled at a nearby tree.
The tree burst into flames, reduced to ashes within moments. Eros clasped his hands together and closed his eyes. "Rest in peace, tree. Even though I didn't burn you, I'm sorry for your loss," he thought solemnly.
"What do we do now?!" Rick groaned, collapsing to the ground. Lily hurried to his side, gently stroking his head to calm him.
"Let's keep searching. We can't give up," Lily said softly, her dark hair fluttering in the breeze. Her brown eyes were full of worry and fear for their friends. Though her appearance was ordinary, something about her radiated a quiet strength.
After a moment of silence, Rick looked up at Eros with a determined expression.
"I have an idea," Rick said, his voice trembling slightly.
"An idea?" Lily asked, confused, following Rick's gaze to Eros. Her eyes widened with understanding, and she shuddered. "NO! We are not doing that! We're not like them!"
"We don't have a choice," Rick said, sadness heavy in his tone. "In two days, our time is up. If we fail, they'll kill all our brothers and sisters!"
"But… there must be another way," Lily pleaded, her voice filled with desperation.
Rick shook his head. "Lily… I'm sorry." His smile was weary as he placed a hand on her head, gently stroking her hair.
"What should we do?" asked a plump boy with dark hair.
"Capture him. We'll pass him off as Leni. I'm sure they've never seen his face," Rick said grimly.
"But…" another boy whispered, trembling.
"We have no choice, Nick," Rick said firmly. "If I have to choose between a stranger and my family… I'll choose my family." He lowered his head, avoiding Eros's gaze. "I'm sorry. There's no other way."
"I understand, and I don't blame you," Eros said, smiling faintly. "I'll go with you."
"Really?" the chubby boy asked in surprise.
Yes," Eros answered, making all the children feel very uncomfortable, "Show me the way. I understand you have almost no time left?"
"Y-yes, let's go," Rick said in a trembling voice.
[A day later.]
Eros was tied to a tree, and the children were sitting nearby, discussing something.
'Eh... And I just reincarnated…' he thought sadly, looking at the children.
"Forgive me…" Looking to the right, the titan saw the same girl, who was looking at him with pity.
"It's okay, I would most likely have done the same," he said with a soft smile. "Care to tell me who you are and how you got to that place?"
"This is…" Lily looked at the boys. "Yes, but there isn't much to tell…" Sitting down next to her, her gaze, filled with pain, was directed at the sky. "We are all from the same village... Doken. It was small, and everyone knew each other. It was a peaceful village, but one day we were attacked, and a massacre began." The girl shuddered, but pulling herself together, she continued, "They killed everyone... They even killed all the cattle, but they did not touch the children. When they finished, only the children remained, and then they... they... took us to their guild." Lifting her sleeve, he saw a tattoo on her shoulder in the form of a half-open coffin. "This is the sign of the dark guild, 'Dark Dawn.'"
"Dark guild," Eros said thoughtfully. "If there are dark ones, then there must be light ones, right?"
"Of course," the girl answered confidently.
"Then, why didn't you turn to the light guild for help?"
"We can't, because many of our friends are still held captive by them, and if we ask for help, then…"
"I understand, don't continue." Sighing, Eros tried to smile as encouragingly as possible. "Let's close this topic for now. Can you tell me how your friend was able to create fire in his hand?" He had been very interested in this question before, but after hearing the girl's story, he realized he had ended up in a world where strength was paramount. If he had it now, he could help these children.
"It's magic," the girl answered with a sad smile. "But among us, only Rick can cast spells."
"Wow!" Eros exclaimed. "And who taught him?"
"He was taught in the guild."
"And will you tell me how to use it?"
"Okay," said Lily, smiling slightly. "To use magic, the mage must use the magic power in his body. Magic power is the source of power for all mages, consisting of ether. Each mage has a container in their body that determines the limit of their power. When the magic power runs out, the mage needs to rest a little, and it will replenish. To create fire like Rick, you must concentrate and push the magic power out of yourself and think about what form you want to give it." The girl scratched her cheek in embarrassment. "But before you start using it, you must know which school of magic you belong to. This can be determined with the help of a special ritual or object."
"I see, thank you, Lily."
"Yeah... I'm glad I could help you… Oh, Rick is calling me. I'll go."
"Of course,"
The girl nodded to Eros and ran to Rick.
"So that means..." he closed his eyes and began to concentrate, delving deeper into himself. He was trying to "feel" the magic power in this way. Once, Eros, under the supervision of his father, had been able to master his powers, so the second time should not be a problem. Half an hour later, a smile appeared on Eros's lips. He had managed to feel this magic power, but... He had two completely different sources of it. The first, he could easily control and release beyond his body, while the second, he couldn't even move a millimeter. It felt like he was trying to move a mountain using only his little finger. But Eros didn't stop trying, and each time he took a smaller part of the magic power. Even after an hour, it didn't move.
It made him angry, more and more with each passing moment, and when he was about to curse out loud, a miracle happened. Eros managed to break off a piece of the power.
He created a small ball before his eyes. When he saw it, Eros felt as though a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head. After all, he simply could not forget this power.
The ball emanated the same feeling as the stone he had once found on a dead planet. But its similarity didn't end there. Even though the ball in his hand was small, he could feel the full force of that power.
Eros simply could not be mistaken in his judgment. But he knew one thing for sure: it was better to release this thing as far away from himself and the children as possible, or they would not survive. Without thinking twice, Eros launched the ball into the sky. Less than a minute later, a loud explosion sounded.
"Rick! What is this?" Lily exclaimed in fear, hiding behind him.
"Don't worry, it was far from us," Rick answered, frowning. "We're leaving here."
"Yes!" the children answered in unison. Having untied Eros, they ran again.
"Rick, what could that be?" asked the plump boy.
"Most likely, two strong magicians are fighting there," Rick said thoughtfully. "So, we need to get as far away from the battle as possible, so we aren't caught by accident."
"Yes, then let's speed up!" the fat boy said in fear, instantly speeding up, overtaking even Rick, who was considered the fastest among the children.
The children laughed out loud at this surreal picture. It's not every day you can see such a miracle.
