Chapter 139: New Ability
The will'o wisp, the portion of Jim's soul, floated in front of Jim. He was just disappointed that he wasn't able to create any being with just his soul alone.
It appeared that he could only create a Blood Guardian.
But Jim didn't give up to learn what other things could this soul. Similar to his blood, he felt that this fragment of his soul could use other things as its physical body.
Jim shifted his gaze around him and found a wild white rabbit in the area. He then, pointed his index finger towards it as he ordered, "Go!"
Jim wanted to know if his fragment soul could possess other creatures and make it its body. Or perhaps, just like his Blood Minion that could absorb blood, this fragment soul of his could absorb soul. That would be a good sneak attack if it really was the case. It had to be known that soul was much harder to detect compared to anything physical.
With that said, the will'o wisp hurriedly went towards the wild white rabbit. The rabbit didn't even notice the incoming threat as it continued to eat grass.
Soon, Jim's fragment soul entered the rabbit's head making the rabbit completely motionless. Jim tilted his head. What happened? He continued to watch for a full minute and there was still nothing notable happened. The rabbit was still unmoving.
Jim was still confused and was about to go near the rabbit to see what was going on when suddenly, his fragment soul came out of the rabbit. A moment after that, the rabbit fell on the ground, lifelessly. Jim was surprised. Just what had happened?
Thankfully, his confusion was soon answered when he saw his fragment soul coming at him. It even went directly on his forehead as it entered his body. Not only that, the moment his fragment soul entered his body, a surge of memories appeared in his mind. A scene where a rabbit was eating happily with many carrots, a scene where a rabbit was playing together with its kin, a scene where a rabbit was being chased by a predator and was running for its life, Jim saw many scenes regarding a certain rabbit that appeared memorable to it. But of course, it was all in a first-person perspective.
At that moment, Jim realized that what he saw just now was the memories of the rabbit from before and was now a corpse. From the looks of it, by using the portion of his soul, Jim could peek at anyone's memory. In exchange, death was very likely to happen to that someone as it seemed that the portion of his soul could absorb the target's soul. That was really something!
If in the future, Jim stumbled upon a vicious individual, whether it was a beast or a demon, or even a human, he could just try using this ability to peek on their memories to learn anything of value. He could also use this for interrogation.
This discovery could really make Jim satisfied and excited!
On the other hand, seeing his master acting like that, Bantay suddenly felt a shudder. Did his master didn't know that what he was thinking was an evil deed? Since he inherited the power of life, why was his master wasn't putting any care of it? And in contradiction, it was as if destroying life was his forte. And he was enjoying it as well! Just what was his master thinking?!
"Uhmmm... Master, isn't it inappropriate to kill a life just like this?" Couldn't hold himself any longer, Bantay asked his master.
"Huh?" Jim was confused though. "What's wrong about it? And also, I didn't kill anyone at all, the soul of that rabbit is now one with me," Jim raised his forefinger and the will'o wisp from before came out. "Look at this, the rabbit seems happy as well."
"That..." Bantay was rather speechless. Of course, that rabbit would be happy. After all, his master had just controlled, or perhaps, enslaved the soul of the rabbit! He also felt the same thing though.
Before, when he was still yet to become a tamed beast of Jim, Bantay hated this brat so much. But when he became the other party's tamed beast, his hate turned into love as it appeared that giving his life to protect his master was barely enough. And Bantay knew that a similar thing happened to the pitiful soul of the rabbit. Although the rabbit wanted to hate the one who killed it so suddenly, it couldn't anymore as it was helpless but to love the one who killed it instead.
Bantay shook his head with his eyes close and then sighed. After a moment of speechlessness, he opened his eyes again and said to his master, "Even so, don't carelessly kill a be...ast..."
But before Bantay could even finish what he was about to say, he saw his master already far away. He was squatting down and in front of him was a corpse of a white tiger lying pitifully on the ground. Bantay even heard his master saying, "So this beast is the predator of the rabbit from before... Good thing they were now together and could live peacefully."
Bantay spurted a mouthful of blood. It was obvious that his master had mercilessly killed the beast by absorbing its memory and soul!
And what in the world did his master mean? How was it a good thing that the rabbit and the tiger could now live peacefully in his master's body? And also, when and how did his master went so far in the blink of an eye without him noticing it?
Bantay was still lecturing his master to not kill a life so carelessly, especially the innocent ones but who would have thought that the other party had already done what he was saying not to do. What even worse was that his master seemed as if he didn't kill life at all. In fact, Bantay could tell that his master was actually thinking that he had saved a life instead. And Bantay could actually feel no evil intention from his master! Just how in the world did he do it?!
"Master!" Bantay rushed towards his master to warn him then again but before he could even reach his distance towards his master, the other party suddenly disappeared only to be replaced by a certain red bird.
What the heck! Where did his master go?! Bantay frenziedly swept his gaze around only to find no presence of his master at all. He then turned his gaze to the Evolving White Wolf meaningfully as he saw the other party only shrugging its shoulder.
Bantay couldn't care much of it though. His first priority was to find his master! How could his master suddenly leave him just like that?! Bantay put his senses to its maximum but even with miles apart, he couldn't find his master at all. As if he never existed in the first place...
Could it be... Bantay suddenly thought of something as he immediately shuddered. It couldn't be that his master had already found the other X-rank Hunters as he rushed immediately to greet them, right? If it really was the case, then his master should have brought him with him! Just what in the world was going on in his master's mind?!
With worries and restlessness filling his heart, Bantay disappeared to where he was standing. He immediately started his search at full speed. No matter what, he should find his master in the fastest time possible!
Meanwhile...
"Huh? Where is Bantay?"
Just as Bantay was already too far away, Jim suddenly reappeared in the area replacing back his Blood Minion that replaced him a while ago. He stared at Bagsik meaningfully seeking Bantay's presence.
Bagsik didn't know what to respond. It was even noticeable that he was smiling bitterly. Just what the heck was this situation?
When his master left, out of worry, Bantay hurriedly left as well to search their master's whereabouts. Now that their master is back, Bantay was now the one who is missing. Will his master left as well to look for Bantay?
Bagsik really wished that he could speak to explain what had just happened, but knowing that he was just a kid and could only barely understand human language, Bagsik could only wave his hand gesturing that Bantay left.
Jim could still understand him though. Bantay left? But why? The only thing Jim couldn't understand was why did the other party suddenly leave.
Even so, knowing that Bantay was strong enough to protect himself, Jim couldn't care much about it. After all, he had some other matters he needed to attend to.
"Anyway, let's go!" Jim waved his hand and before Bagsik could even respond, he suddenly turned into a ball of blood before going back to his master's body.
After which, without further delay, Jim disappeared excitedly as he was being replaced by the Blood Minion from before.
