Chapter 153: Like Mothers, Like Sons
"W-who?"
Finally, Ben managed to let out a single word after a good while of watching what had just happened. Just who in the world was this kid that suddenly appeared? Was he also one of the X-rank Hunters chosen by the Four Greatest Hunters? From what it seemed, it was highly likely to be the case.
And besides, Ben also saw the other party's right eye as he immediately recognized it. Pulang Mata? He came from Mausig Family? And also, not only he had the Pulang Mata, but his eye was also a high-level one that it had five dots on it. Just who really was he? Ben realized that the kid in front of him was not an ordinary individual.
But to think that this boy carried an air of warmth with him. Ben even felt relaxed and safe just by being in his presence. What an interesting fellow. Ben could even see that not even a tiny bit of hostility or murderous aura could be found from the other party. It was really something he didn't expect for a Hunter who was chosen to exterminate all evils and save the world.
What Ben believed was that to slaughter a monster, one should become a monster himself as well. If they wanted to erase the existence of all demons and Otherworldly Monster Beasts in the face of this world, then they should have the ability and will to vanquish them all. That being said, one should have the intent to kill and must be ready to dirty their hand with blood.
Everyone knew as well that not only demons and Otherworldly Monster Beasts were the enemy of humans, but the humans themselves as well. From that, it could be said that they too were supposed to kill the traitors of humanity in the future.
But this boy was actually...
Ben couldn't even feel any traces of killing intent from him as he was more than sure that he hadn't killed any humans, beasts, or demons from before. Or even if he already did kill, Ben guessed that he killed them without any killing intent. Just how in the world did he do it?
But well, killing an ant didn't need any killing intent. Could it be that this boy was treating all his targets as an ant as he killed them all without putting any significance? That would be terrifying. Ben suddenly felt a shiver.
But of course, that was only his wild thoughts. About whether it was correct or not, he didn't know.
In any case, this boy didn't have any hostility against him. It was just that, the other party was staring at him in pity as it was obvious that the other party was belittling him. This could really make Ben annoyed.
But he was helpless. He was really being beaten to a pulp and he deserved to be treated as insignificant. Ben could only accept the cruel reality that he was still too weak.
"So You are Ben Cosa?" Jim asked as he checked and looked at the other party's condition.
"..." Ben didn't reply. But Jim could tell that in his eyes, he was asking, "How did you know?"
Jim smiled. It appeared that the other party was having a hard time opening his mouth. Since that was the case, Jim could only take action to heal him.
So then, Jim raised his forefinger and directed it above Ben's forehead. Ben didn't know what was the other party up to but since he couldn't move, he was forced to wait and see.
After Jim put his forefinger above Ben's forehead, a drop of blood came out from the tip of it. After which, it finally landed on Ben's forehead as an incredible amount of Life Energy surged in.
This... Ben was struck shock. He didn't know how to respond. His Life Energy was increasing at an incredibly fast rate as his wounds and injuries were getting healed at a rate visible to the eye. What frightening healing capability. Just how in the world did he do it?
With amazement filling his heart, Ben got up from the ground as he felt that his entire body was now being healed. Not even a tiny bit of scratch was left.
Ben then instinctively shifted his gaze beside him and found the other party smiling at him. After which, the other party stood up from the ground as he reached his hand towards him to help him get up.
"T-thanks..." Ben wasn't to used asking for help but it was still the fact that the other party helped him. He then reached his hand and grabbed the other party's hand as he too stood up from the ground. "You've helped me once, let me return this favor someday."
"Haha, you're being too serious," Jim laughed as he let go of Ben's hand. After which, he added warmly, "We're brothers now, so it's only fine."
"B-brothers?" Ben repeated those words unsure if he heard it right. Brothers? That was something he couldn't hear from his blood brother.
Nonetheless, he felt that this brother thing sounds good. And he could tell that the other party was truly sincere in his words and wanted him as his brother. That being said, Ben couldn't help but smile as he replied, "Alright, we're brothers now. But, what should I call you?"
"Ah, yeah, I still haven't introduced myself," Jim laughed dryly as he scratched the back of his head. After a moment of pause, he added happily, "My name is Jim Jabat."
At first, Jim was just trying if he could befriend the other party. He wasn't bearing so much hope though since he hadn't had any friend before. But who would have thought that this Ben was easy to talk with as he immediately agreed to be his brother. Jim was really happy. That was the first time that he got a friend.
"Jim Jabat?" Ben suddenly frowned. This name was a bit familiar for him but he just couldn't recall where and when did he hear this name. That said, Ben could only ask, "Who are your parents?"
"Ah, that..." Jim hesitated. He knew that if he told him about his parents, his title for being the trash son of a strong family would resound next. But then, he was not a trash anymore. So perhaps, telling his parent was just alright? So then, Jim took a deep breath as he replied, "Joe Jabat is my father."
"J-joe Jabat...?" Ben was a bit shock. To think that he was actually the son of Joe Jabat.
Ben recognized well this person. After all, he was famed for being the strongest Hunter in the kingdom excluding the King. That went without saying, those who were related to him would likely be known as well.
And this Jim was known for being trash. Just like him, they were both treated as weaklings. Ben really felt sympathy towards the other party when he learned about his existence.
But to think that they would meet someday and would actually become friends? Ben couldn't help but smile. If this was not fate, then this should be destiny or other similar adjectives in the world.
But then, the question of how did the other party knew about his name was still unanswered. And Ben was dying to know about it. He stared at Jim intently as he asked, "But how did you know my name?"
"Ah, yes." At that moment, Jim seemed to suddenly remember something as he waved his hand and a pendant on his hand. When Ben saw it, his eyes got widened as his hand couldn't stop shaking. It was obvious that he recognized the pendant.
Jim saw Ben acting so strange as he asked him while reaching the pendant towards him, "This is for you."
"This..." Ben slowly reached his hand to get the pendant as he asked, "How and where did you get this?"
"My mother asked me to give this to you, I don't really know where did she get it," Jim replied.
"Your mother?" Ben frowned for a moment before he realized something. "Your mother is Charley Jabat?"
"Yes." Jim nodded with a smile.
"So that's how it is." Ben also smiled as he finally realized the whole thing. He then held grasp to the pendant, even more, tighter as he said, "Thank you."
He knew the relationship between his mother and Charley Jabat. After all, his mother was telling him her life story from time to time.
That being said, he could tell that his mother asked help from his friend Charley to help her deliver this pendant to him. After all, Ben also knew that his mother couldn't meet him because of some stupid restrictions. That was really making Ben mad. Especially when he was about to leave and yet, he couldn't even meet his mother for the last time.
But now that this pendant was delivered onto him, the joy in his heart was just overwhelming that there was even an urge in him to cry. But of course, he wouldn't do it in front of anyone.
The only thing that Ben didn't expect was that as their mothers were good friends, the sons would be friends as well. This really made Ben happy.
Like mothers, like sons.
