Xianxia: The Sect Master Is My Girlfriend

Chapter 97: The Thrill of Flirting!

Leng Wuyan concealed herself nearby, quietly following Li Ran back to his residence. She stood outside his door, hesitating for a long time. In the end, though, she resisted the urge to meet him.

She knew all too well how charming Li Ran was. Handsome, incredibly talented, and now, after defeating Lin Langyue, he had become the First Demon King on the Demon Kings List. Countless female cultivators would be eager to connect with him. In this very sect, who among the female disciples didn’t secretly desire the Holy Son? If it weren’t for the sect rules, things might be even more outrageous than in the Hehuan Sect.

“Hmph, I can’t forgive him that easily. Otherwise, who knows how many more girls he’ll charm in the future!” Leng Wuyan made up her mind and quietly returned to her chamber.

“Sigh~”

Li Ran rested his chin on his hand, looking utterly dejected.

“It’s over. The Sect Master didn’t even react to the gift I sent. She must be really angry this time…”

He had carefully prepared that gift. It took him countless failed attempts to carve that stone sculpture, and he had practically worn down the stone gate of the secret realm trying.

He had hoped it would earn him some leniency, but it was like throwing a stone into the sea—there was no response at all.

In the past, Leng Wuyan would get mad and jealous, but never had she given him the cold shoulder like this before.

“This is worse than getting beaten or cut up…” Li Ran ruffled his hair, reflecting on the time they’d spent together.

Suddenly, a light bulb went off in his mind.

“I’ve got it!”

“This will definitely move her!”

Li Ran spread out a sheet of paper, dipped his brush in ink, and after a moment of thought, began writing and drawing.

The sun was setting, and the sky was growing darker. The lamps of Rakshasa Peak flickered on one by one.

“Holy Son, please don’t make things difficult for me. The Sect Master really isn’t seeing anyone,” the guard said with a helpless expression.

Li Ran shook his head and pulled out a small sandalwood box. “I’m not here to ask for an audience, just to trouble you to pass this on to the Sect Master.”

“Oh, alright.” The guard took the box and nodded. “No problem.”

Li Ran peered through the window lattice, seeing the soft glow of lights in the chamber, but no sign of his master.

Leng Wuyan lay in bed, carefully examining the stone sculpture in her hands.

“Do I really look this ugly? What a fool, he’s so hopeless,” she muttered. Despite her words, she couldn’t hide the smile playing on her lips. The sculpture in its hand held a half-eaten sugar figure, reminding her of their first date.

She blushed, her heart racing as she recalled how Li Ran had taken a bite, not only of the sugar figure but of her rouge-covered lips as well…

Leng Wuyan’s face flushed red, and she clutched the sculpture, rolling back and forth on the bed.

“Does that… count as a kiss?”

“No, no, it doesn’t count. At most, it was indirect. It doesn’t count.”

“But… what would it feel like…? Ugh, who even wants to kiss him anyway?!”

As she mentally battled herself, a knock came at the door. She immediately sat up straight.

A guard entered cautiously, bowing in respect. “Sect Master, forgive me for disturbing your rest.”

“What is it?” Leng Wuyan asked.

The guard presented the box. “The Holy Son asked me to deliver this to you.”

Leng Wuyan was momentarily surprised. Another gift?

“Leave it.”

“Yes.” The guard placed the box down and left.

Leng Wuyan picked up the sandalwood box, her eyes filled with amusement. “Hmph, does he think sending me a few more gifts will win me over?”

“Let’s see what he’s sent this time…”

She looked carefully at the box.

It seemed familiar.

Suddenly, she remembered—it was the same kind of box Li Ran had used to store the Photograph Stone when he confessed to her!

The thought made her heart beat faster.

She opened the box, expecting another magical display, but inside was just a simple booklet made of bound xuan paper. A spell had been cast on the paper, making it sturdy yet soft.

As Leng Wuyan flipped through the booklet, she found a series of drawings.

The first depicted a woman gazing out over a snowy mountain. The brushwork was unusual, not the broad, sweeping strokes of the mortal world, but the fine, delicate lines drawn with a fox-hair brush.

The simplicity of the lines captured the woman’s icy elegance perfectly.

Leng Wuyan’s eyes flashed with surprise. “I didn’t know Ran’er had such skills.”

She turned the pages, each one revealing moments from their time together, from Li Ran’s confession to all the small, precious details of their relationship. Many of the drawings were similar, with only slight changes in the characters’ poses.

As she slowly leafed through the booklet, her emotions fluctuated between shyness, joy, and playful annoyance. By the end, she found herself wishing for more.

“I never realized he remembered every single moment so clearly…” Leng Wuyan smiled, her eyes shimmering.

That’s when she noticed something written on the back of the last page. It was a small note:

【Bend the booklet, press your thumb against the edge, and flip through it quickly.】

Below the instructions was a set of simple line drawings showing how to do it.

Leng Wuyan blinked in surprise. “There’s a different way to view it?”

She followed the instructions, bending the booklet, pressing her thumb against the edge, and letting the pages flip rapidly.

Her breath caught.

As the pages flipped, the drawings seemed to come to life!

From the moment on Rakshasa Peak when Li Ran confessed, to their “accidental” sparring session in the back mountain, to that snowy date where he bit into the sugar figure and they played in the snow, leaving a trail of footprints behind them…

Each still drawing seemed to move, and every little action was vividly brought to life!

It was an entirely different experience from just looking at the drawings. Like a sweet bullet, it struck straight to Leng Wuyan’s heart.

Her face burned as she held her cheeks, eyes brimming with warmth.

“This little rascal…”

“No, I can’t take this anymore. I need to see him now!”

She no longer cared about making him wait or the engagement. All her grievances melted away. All she wanted was to sit with Li Ran, even if it was just to chat…

“Someone, come!”

A guard quickly entered and knelt. “Sect Master, what are your orders?”

“If the Holy Son comes in the next few days…”

Leng Wuyan turned her head, her ears turning red. “You… you are not to stop him anymore.”

In his room, Li Ran gazed out at the distant Rakshasa Peak and let out a silent sigh.

“Sigh, flirting is fun and all, but chasing a wife… or rather, chasing the Sect Master, is pure torture!”

He had pulled out all the stops, even using the sketching skills he’d honed in his past life.

“I wonder if the Sect Master will forgive me…”

Just then, Ah Qin knocked on the door and entered. “Holy Son, the water’s boiled… huh? Why do you look so pale?”
