YIN-YANG DEVOURER

Travel Companions (23)

'Damn this guy is no joke' Nina thought as she watched from the edge of the forest.

She had dedicated herself to following Ruvan's group all the way since their departure from the City of Waves. She had to have a detailed report ready for the Grand Matriarch about Ruvan's actions when she finally arrived. This was a great chance to rise through the ranks within the Sect and of course she wasn't going to waste it.

'Mmm their soldiers are also quite competent. They were outnumbered by almost three to one but they still managed to easily overcome the bandits,' Nina murmured in surprise when she saw the good performance of Ruvan's soldiers.

'The girl is also very good'

'From their abilities it seems that this boy has gifted them with sky rank combat techniques at least…'

'It is practically impossible to find techniques of that degree on this small continent' Nina muttered to herself as she became increasingly convinced that Ruvan's origin was not as simple as it seemed.

'Well for the moment let's continue watching what this brat does... I want to see how he deals with this situation now,' Nina thought as she watched one of the bandits pointing a dagger at the little girl's neck while threatening to kill her if they didn't let him run away.

The mother's screams added to the tension of the moment as she tearfully pleaded for her daughter to be released.

"GET AWAY IF YOU LET ME GO NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO THIS GIRL!!' The enraged bandit shouted as he pressed the dagger even more against the little girl's neck causing a small drop of blood to slide down the little girl's neck.

"PLEASE LET GO OF MY DAUGHTER"

"TAKE ME AS A HOSTAGE BUT LET HER GO" The mother who until recently was about to be raped by one of the bandits had already recovered and was currently pleading with the bandit while being she was held by two of Ruvan's mercenaries.

"TELL THEM TO LET ME GO AND YOUR DAUGHTER WILL BE SAFE" The bandit threatened with fear as he looked everywhere trying to prevent anyone from surprising him from behind.

He was completely scared after all he was part of one of the most prominent bandit groups in the area. They had two leaders at the Golden Core Realm which was a fairly respected level on the continent. Since he had joined the band, they had never experienced such a disastrous defeat like this one.

Seeing the scattered corpses of those who until recently were his companions only soured the bandit's mood even more.

'Shit I need to escape this shitty situation'

'The only thing I have left to use is this little girl... If these bastards don't show any concern for this girl I'm screwed' thought the bandit as he watched each of his possible escape routes being blocked by Ruvan's mercenaries.

'I need to try to convince the leader' thought the Bandit as he watched how a young man with golden eyes was crouched down, tearing off the space rings from the two leaders of the group without caring in the least about what was happening around him.

The mother also seemed to realize that everything would depend on this young man's decision, so she directed her pleas towards him.

"LORD PLEASE SAVE MY DAUGHTER! "I BEG YOU!!" The mother implored as she crouched on her knees in front of Ruvan.

"Hey, madam, calm down...You're going to hurt yourself if you keep going like this" Ruvan said in a kind voice as he helped the mother stand up.

"Hey enough! Let me go and I promise that nothing will happen to the girl" The bandit insisted again when he realized that he finally had Ruvan's attention.

"Hmm I must admit that your idea was not bad. Despite everything, one does everything possible to try to stay alive" Ruvan said indifferently as he approached, walking calmly in the direction of the bandit, causing him to tense up.

"GET AWAY OR I WILL KILL THE GIRL"

"IM NOT JOKING" The visibly upset bandit shouted at the top of his lungs. He had witnessed how this golden-eyed young man had killed the leader of his group along with five of his companions with a single burst of lightning. The image still replayed in his mind relentlessly.

"MOMMY" The girl cried as she felt the dagger getting tighter and tighter on her delicate neck.

"SIR PLEASE DO WHAT HE SAYS" The mother pleaded from behind Ruvan.

"But anyway… This time you have it…You are free to leave" Ruvan said indifferently as he ordered the mercenaries to open a corridor so that the bandit could leave.

The bandit was surprised for a few moments but quickly began to walk cautiously while holding the girl as a shield. His eyes were as vigilant as possible as he looked everywhere trying to avoid being surprised.

While the bandit looked everywhere, little by little the sunlight that until recently had hit his forehead squarely began to disappear. A few drops of water began to fall on his head, making him imagine that the rain was approaching.

'Looks like I'm in luck! This rain is what I need to make them lose track of me' The bandit thought happily as he gloated over his good fortune.

'Mmm, how strange, why do these bastards still get hit by the sun? They even seem to be completely dry' The bandit quickly realized the strangeness of the matter and a bad feeling quickly came over him.

His body completely paralyzed as he slowly raised his neck to look in the direction of the sky. When he looked up he witnessed a huge green snake which had its enormous mouth completely open right above his head. Its huge fangs splashed drops of slime that fell directly on its head.

"Viridis! Food…" Ruvan said with a cruel smile.

"Oh shit," the Bandit muttered lamentably as his head was sucked directly into the snake. Even the little girl who until recently feared for her life was surprised to see that the bandit who until recently had her restraint had completely disappeared.

Viridis, for her part, held the bandit by the neck and in less than a second she was already digesting her new bite. While Ruvan and the rest were fighting Viridis had slid down the trunk of one of the nearby trees, placing herself on top of the branches of one of the trees waiting for Ruvan's orders.

"MOMMY" The girl never realized what had happened and quickly ran in the direction of her mother who was still completely pale at the scene she had witnessed. There were certainly too many emotions for the poor woman.

"We are going to rest for a few minutes and we will resume our march. Understood?"

"YES CAPTAIN" The mercenaries responded with complete obedience.

"By the way... You can divide all the bandits shares among yourselves"

"THANK YOU CAPTAIN" The soldiers said with emotion as they began to loot the bodies of the deceased bandits.
