Chapter 10 - Art Exhibition I
The driver was Daisy’s friend, a fat uncle with a nice smile. Bai Xi put Han Zhuo into the car, and then said breathlessly: “No. 978, Xinghai Road. Thank you.”
“Where is this?” Han Zhuo asked.
“Another home,” Bai Xi closed the car door and ordered him, “Sit tight!”
“Another home?” Han Zhuo thought for a moment, “But I am not really drunk.”
Bai Xi raised a stick in front of him, fingers. “How many is this?”
Han Zhuo replied: “One.”
“What about this?” Bai Xi added two more fingers.
Mr. Han looked at it for a while, then raised the corner of his mouth. “Eighteen.”
Bai Xi buckled his seat belt with a click and said decisively to the driver, “Xinghai Road, thank you!”
The fat uncle happily agreed and drove. The car turned onto the viaduct. The light and shadow around them constantly changed, and the high-speed car almost blended into the night. Bai Xi took out a plastic bag from nowhere and held it in his hand with great vigilance, ready to serve at any time – of course, Mr. Han was also very cooperative. The vomit didn’t really come out in the car. Half an hour later, the fat uncle returned the key to Bai Xi and asked politely, “Did you need any other help?”
“No, thank you,” Han Zhuo pressed the floor button, “Goodbye.”
In the elevator, the moment the door closed, the fat uncle blew a charming kiss to Mr. Bai.
“Enjoy this night!”
Bai Xi glanced at the drunk Mr. Han next to him, and then silently looked away.
He really couldn’t enjoy it.
.
When the two of them entered the apartment, the clock happened to point to half past five, and the whole city was on the verge of sleeping or waking up. Although there was some light in the east, the sky was still deep blue. Bai Xi took out a bottle of water from the refrigerator. “Do you want it?”
“Thank you, is this your house?” Han Zhuo looked around.
“I bought it a year ago,” Bai Xi sat on the sofa.
He originally planned to live alone after graduation, but as soon as the idea was raised, Mrs. Bai started holding her chest and crying sadly, saying that she was about to have a heart attack. Aunt Li also objected, and even Bai Boyang refused to let him go. People took turns to join the battle, so Bai Xi had to give up the idea for the time being, and only came to stay occasionally when working overtime.
“Good taste,” Han Zhuo stood by the window, “You can see the lights of the city, like stars.”
Bai Xi applauded perfunctorily. “Literary and artistic.”
Han Zhuo smiled and closed the curtains. “Thank you for bringing me here.”
Bai Xi stuffed the towel into his arms. “I’m really sleepy, so why don’t we talk about street lights and stars another day?”
The sound of water rustling in the bathroom next door was like rain falling on a field on a summer night, which was more relaxing than a lullaby. Bai Xi threw himself into bed and closed his eyes contentedly and comfortably. It was the weekend after days of intense overtime work. There were no meetings and no need to get up early. The alcohol in his blood was burning slightly, causing waves of numbness and fatigue. It was comfortable. At this moment, the whole world felt soft. It seemed that as long as he closed his eyes, he could sleep until the end of the world.
In the wilderness of dreams, there were countless stars shining.
The night was very quiet and very long.
.
Three o’clock in the afternoon, Liu Chunchun’s rental house.
Bai Xi came in holding a large bouquet of flowers, which never changed in color.
Liu Chunchun hugged his thigh and complained with tears, these two beasts actually wanted to order a lobster set meal worth 1,888 yuan each person. How could they be so inhumane?
“Who’s inhumane? Who do you think is inhumane?” Wang Xiaosen stood on the sofa, shaking a piece of paper. “This is an invitation from Moses Gallery! Brother, the last painting exhibition his family held was Zhang Daqian. Do you know what this means?”
Liu Chunchun said feebly, “I don’t know.”
“It means you’re the next Zhang Daqian!” Wang Xiaosen slapped the wall. “Listen to me, brother, you don’t need to find a job in the future, you can just stay at home and draw lobsters!”
Yu Jiong, playing a game, reminded, “The one who draws lobsters is Qi Baishi.”
“Brother Bai…” Liu Chunchun was so sad he couldn’t get up.
“What are you talking about?” Bai Xi couldn’t help but pick him up. “Are you going to hold an art exhibition again?”
“This time is different from last time. Moses Gallery is the top art institution in the country.” Wang Xiaosen jumped from the sofa. “They just sent an email to Chunchun. They want to invite him to hold a personal exhibition. They are not a scammer. I’ve already called and asked.”
“Okay!” Bai Xi ruffled Liu Chunchun’s hair into a chicken coop. “That’s great. What’s troubling you about the future?”
“I… I’m afraid,” Liu Chunchun’s teeth chattered.
“Remember your promise!” Bai Xi said sternly, “To celebrate that you finally have a place in the art world, the 1888 lobster set meal cannot be exempted.”
“I never expected that you would also bully me.” Liu Chunchun was completely disappointed and tearful.
“Okay, okay, stop howling. Xiao Bai already ordered barbecue crayfish,” Yu Jiong covered his head with a cushion and said with a smile. “But to be honest, I really didn’t expect that you kid only drawing those egg birds but you actually managed to get ahead.”
“Do you think I am a fraudster?” Liu Chunchun was furious.
“How could you even deceive people? You have no money, no power and no breasts,” Wang Xiaosen looked disgusted.
“That’s right,” Liu Chunchun leaned to Bai Xi with a shy look on his face. “I only have talents.”
Mr. Han sat between the two of them with a cup of coffee, calm and composed.
.
“Brother Han,” Liu Chunchun tugged at him. “What do you think? Is it reliable?”
“I don’t know this thing. Is Moses Gallery great?” Han Zhuo asked.
“Of course, it’s awesome, top-notch in the industry. Chunchun is definitely lucky this time,” Wang Xiaosen hugged Liu Chunchun and said earnestly. “Seriously, even if the other party really covets your beauty, we will recognize it as soon as we open our eyes. I can give you a pair of sexy underwear.”
Liu Chunchun giggled, shamelessly.
Yu Jiong and Wang Xiaosen were still talking nonsense. Han Zhuo handed the coffee cup to Bai Xi. “What do you think?”
“What can I say? I’m happy for Chunchun,” Bai Xi lowered his voice. “You don’t know, last time I helped him hold a painting exhibition, I lost all my money, but this time there is someone to take over. I just wanted to tie Chunchun with a pink bow and send him out immediately with both hands, adding the words ‘goods sold’, no returns or exchanges.”
Han Zhuo smiled and took advantage of the time when a few people were playing games to read through the job application reply letter that Liu Chunchun had screened out, but he didn’t find anything wrong with it.
The sky was getting dark, and the aroma of crayfish filled every corner of the room. Liu Chunchun was still sucking his fingers. Yu Jiong and Wang Xiaosen moved their chopsticks like flying. Only Bai Xi ate elegantly and calmly because Mr. Han was sitting next to him, and his shrimp peeling skills were top-notch.
Wang Xiaosen was heartbroken. “You two are the evil capitalists. We, poor people, really don’t envy you at all.”
Note:
Bai Xi is super rich with his own bodyguard to serve him, so he is one of the evil capitalist haha
