Chapter 2 - The Battle Between the Unlicensed Bodyguard Driver and The Housekeeper Aunt II
The next morning, when Bai Xi came downstairs yawning, a small argument was breaking out in the kitchen. Aunt Li was very dissatisfied with the fact that this new bodyguard and driver dared to intrude into her territory without permission. She scrutinized the fried eggs and bacon on the white porcelain plate, trying to find some flaws.
“What are you doing?” Bai Xi folded his arms and leaned against the door, “Robbing the oil can?”
“It’s Mr. Han,” Aunt Li complained preemptively, “When I got up this morning, he had already cooked breakfast. How could he do this, the young master always eats soft-boiled eggs.”
Han Zhuo held the plate, “Breakfast.”
“Breakfast,” Bai Xi replied, holding Aunt Li’s shoulders with both hands and pushing her into the living room, half coaxing and half perfunctory, “It’s good to have someone help you cook. Come, go continue knitting sweaters for Xiaotian.”
“This won’t do. Young master, you have to talk to Mr. Han. Everyone must have a clear division of labor,” Aunt Li complained, “A clear division of labor is the primary productive force, as Karl Marx said, you know?”
Han Zhuo: “Pfft.”
“I know, I know,” Bai Xi put the woolen basket into her hand and returned to the kitchen.
Han Zhuo took off his apron and said, “But I made three servings.”
“From now on, don’t interfere with cooking,” Bai Xi poured the juice himself, “For more than twenty years, Aunt Li has always been here. She is used to being busy.”
“I want to thank you,” Han Zhuo said, “For everything yesterday.”
“You should forget yesterday,” Bai Xi refused from the bottom of his heart, “From the train station to the police station, and then to the Black Heart Noodle House, you are not allowed to mention anything again.”
“Okay, I promise,” Han Zhuo raised his hand cooperatively and asked with a smile, “You like to eat soft-boiled eggs? Then I’ll make you one.”
“Thank you,” Bai Xi did not refuse. He stood idly by the pot. After a while, he became a little confused, “Isn’t your outfit a bit too big?”
The loose round-neck T-shirt looked like a sack, covering Han Zhuo’s whole body. The pants were a bit long, and the trouser legs were rolled up, revealing the large size 48 slippers under his feet.
“There’s nothing else to wear,” Han Zhuo took the round sun-coated eggs out of the pot. “There are only clothes of this size in the cabinet, and this set is the smallest.”
Bai Xi couldn’t laugh or cry.
Aunt Li bought the clothes, but this really couldn’t be considered a dereliction of duty on her part. Because it was Mrs. Bai who wanted to buy the new driver and bodyguard some clothes, she gestured to the clothing store clerk according to the previous driver’s body shape: “He’s over 1.95 meters tall, yes, yes, he’s very tall. He needs to be tall. XXXL.”
“Actually, I’m not short, right?” Han Zhuo smiled and handed him the plate, “Where are you going today?”
“You just arrived, let’s rest first.” Bai Xi leaned on the kitchen table, casually rolling up the bacon with a fork, “I’m not going to the company either. I’m going to the hospital to visit a friend.”
“You’d better let me accompany you.” Han Zhuo lowered his voice and nodded towards the living room, “Look.”
Aunt Li was glaring at them, knitting a sweater with a determined expression.
Bai Xi laughed happily and nodded in agreement, “That’s fine.”
.
Mrs. Bai had prepared a car for Han Zhuo two months ago. It was the BMW that Bai Xi drove during college. After maintenance, it was as good as new, no different. Since it was already past the morning rush hour, there weren’t many cars on the road. Bai Xi sat in the passenger seat and played mobile games for a while, but suddenly raised his head, “Let’s make a U-turn at the next intersection.”
“Change of plans?” Han Zhuo glanced at the navigation.
“I’ll buy you two sets of clothes first.” Bai Xi adjusted his wide sleeves, “That’s enough for various occasions.”
Han Zhuo smiled, “Thank you.”
“I’ll take a nap, and you can drive straight to the Silver Building,” Bai Xi tossed a cushion into the backseat.
Han Zhuo nodded and thoughtfully lowered the music volume in the car to a minimum. If there was a barely audible singing, it would indeed be very suitable for napping.
.
Neither of them noticed an inconspicuous black Audi making a U-turn in front of them. It quietly drove into the side road and stopped at the entrance of Mojin Hutong.
The noodle shop owner was squatting on the ground brushing his teeth. He raised his head upon hearing footsteps. It was three law enforcement officers in blue uniforms.
“Hello, please show me your business license,” the officer said sternly.
The boss spat out foam and replied vaguely, “What business license?”
“Your noodle shop’s business license,” the officer removed his hat, “Someone reported you for operating without a license.”
“This is not a noodle shop,” the boss placed down the mouthwash cup on the window sill, “You have the wrong person.”
The officer looked around and put the hat back on, “We also received reports from diners that you stole electricity.”
The boss paused, “…”
.
The car came to a halt at the entrance of the Silver Building. Han Zhuo was about to wake up Bai Xi when his phone buzzed. After answering, a high-pitched voice came from the receiver, “This is too much!”
“What happened?” Han Zhuo glanced at the person beside him.
The other person continued to chatter, describing what had just happened in a very sonorous tone. He was very angry and even a little hysterical.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Xi sat up, wrapped in a blanket.
“Nothing,” Han Zhuo adjusted the seat for him and smiled, “Good job.”
“What did I do well?” Bai Xi asked casually.
“You reported the illegal shop,” Han Zhuo opened a bottle of water, “Here, drink some water.”
“Who reported an illegal shop?” Bai Xi, still groggy, muttered, leaning on the seat to drink water.
The smile on Han Zhuo’s face stiffened slightly, “Didn’t you report that noodle shop for operating without a license?”
“How could I be so bored for that,” Bai Xi finally fully woke up, “Did someone report that illegal shop? Then how do you know?”
Han Zhuo pointed to the speaker, “It was mentioned in the news that the Industrial and Commercial Bureau received a report and raided the shanty towns today.”
“Just let them check, let’s forget about that black shop cheating people. Hygiene situation is still worrying, so let’s not eat there in the future,” Bai Xi didn’t seem bothered, “Let’s go buy clothes.”
“Okay,” Han Zhuo nodded, smiling at him, “You go ahead, I’ll find somewhere to park the car.”
Parking spaces were scarce near the office building. Han Zhuo circled the underground garage and called back the person.
“I’m fine, but they took away Old Zhou,” the person on the other end continued to rant.
Han Zhuo hung up the phone and gradually frowned.
The black Audi drove along the elevated highway towards the suburbs. In addition to the three “law enforcement officers” in the car, there was also a tall and burly man. He was the “Old Zhou” mentioned by the noodle shop owner. He had also acted bravely at the train station yesterday, resulting in Bai Xi going directly to the police station.
The good man, Zhou Jinshan.
