Chapter 4 - You Must Not Follow a Playboy Like Mr. Han I
On the first night when Mr. and Mrs. Bai came back, Han Zhuo’s performance was flawless. Not only could he take good care of Bai Xi at the dinner table, but he could also continue to drink tea and chat with Mrs. Bai after the meal. The topics involved designer windbreakers, beauty care, the US presidential election, national new energy development, crocodile leather bag maintenance, and finally magically fell on their neighbor, Mrs. Li next door.
“You don’t know,” Mrs. Bai lowered her voice and looked at Han Zhuo like an underground gang member. “She is having sex behind her husband’s back, and her pretty face is all fake. It’s really fake, it’s so scary.”
Mr. Han was very cooperative, and even took a gasp of air.
Bai Xi passed by with a glass of juice and couldn’t help but say, “Mom, can you let Aunt Li next door go? You are drinking tea with family. Isn’t there anything else to talk?”
Mrs. Bai was very dissatisfied when she heard this and pulled Han Zhuo complained, “Look at Xiao Bai. He just graduated and doesn’t want to work hard. He still has time to eavesdrop on our gossip.”
Bai Xi: “…”
“Ouch, I’m about to have a heart attack,” Mrs. Bai weakly covered her chest.
Bai Xi quickly surrendered, “I’ll go to the study right now.”
Mrs. Bai was very satisfied and watched him go to the second floor with a motherly smile. Bai Xi quickened his pace and his figure soon disappeared at the top of the stairs. Mrs. Bai did not look away. She stared at the empty stairs for a long time. It wasn’t until Han Zhuo coughed lightly that she suddenly came back to her senses and said with an apologetic smile, “Look at me, I’m thinking wildly again.”
Han Zhuo replaced the cold tea in front of her and said gently, “It doesn’t matter.”
“Come, let’s go to the small living room,” Mrs. Bai patted his hand, “Let me show you the photos of Xiao Bai when he was a child. He was all pink and cute.”
Han Zhuo smiled and nodded, “Okay.”
.
The hour hand of the wall clock on the wall pointed to “2”. Bai Xi stretched his sore muscles and finally closed the computer screen. Tomorrow was the first time he would give a report at the group meeting. In the name of the second-generation ancestor, it would be too ugly and embarrassing for the old man if he failed. Therefore, although all the information had been prepared, he still wanted to check it a few more times, to ensure nothing went wrong.
The house was very quiet. After Bai Xi took a shower, he wiped his hair and opened the balcony door. He originally just wanted to blow in the air, but he didn’t expect that Han Zhuo didn’t sleep either. He was wearing loose home clothes and was sitting on the garden terrace on the first floor. There was also a glass of red wine in hand.
“Hey!” Bai Xi leaned on the railing and protested in a low voice, “You are not doing your job properly, right? There is no bodyguard or driver who drinks alone in the middle of the night.”
“A small cup will not delay work,” Han Zhuo raised his head and looked at him and invited, “There is a beautiful flower blooming here. Do you want to come down and have a look?”
“No,” Bai Xi said, showing no interest in the plant at all.
“Come,” Han Zhuo stretched out his right hand, “Jump down and I’ll catch you.”
Bai Xi was confused. “What do you mean?”
Han Zhuo replied, “It’s nothing. Every boy in the country can climb trees and jump over walls. It’s fun.”
“Jumping off a wall and jumping off a building are two different things,” Bai Xi still refused. “But please wait for me first.”
“Huh?” Han Zhuo raised his eyebrows.
Bai Xi ran down the stairs quietly, squeezed onto the terrace, and said to Mr. Han, “Let’s talk.”
“What do you want to talk about?” Han Zhuo helped him set up a chair.
“Did you know my mother before?” Bai Xi asked.
Han Zhuo nodded. “I know you. Mr. Bai and Mrs. Bai went on vacation three years ago. I happened to be on that island. There were robbers making trouble. I helped the police control the situation.”
“Really?” Bai Xi frowned. He frowned, “But my mother has never mentioned this matter.”
“I guess she’s afraid of making you worry,” Han Zhuo took a dry towel and helped him dry his dripping hair. “They are very good parents.”
Bai Xi didn’t speak anymore. He laid halfway back on the chair, looking aimlessly at the sky in the distance. He guessed that it would be a good day tomorrow because the stars were very bright, like gems. Even if they were randomly scattered in the sky, they would still appear just as beautiful.
“Are you worried?” Han Zhuo sat next to him.
“Yeah,” Bai Xi replied. After a while, he added, dully, “I don’t want to say it.”
“It doesn’t matter. If you don’t want to say it, don’t say it,” Han Zhuo also looked into the distance with him. “Which stars do you like best?”
“Favorite?” Bai Xi thought for a moment and shook his head. “They’re all the same.”
“Different,” Han Zhuo said. “Some stars have water on them, some stars have mountains on them, and some stars have mountains full of gems.”
Bai Xi: “…”
Bai Xi applauded sincerely. “Mr. Han, you are so artistic.” He stayed up late at night, blowing in the wind, drinking, admiring flowers, chanting poems, and looking at the stars.
“Want a drink?” Han Zhuo picked up the wine glass. “Mrs. Bai gave it to me.”
“No, I have to go back to bed,” Bai Xi stood up. “I’m leaving at eight o’clock tomorrow morning, so you should go to bed early.”
“Okay,” Han Zhuo nodded. “Good night.” He asked again, “Do you really don’t want to climb up from here?”
“Not at all!” Bai Xi refused ruthlessly again and walked back with his slippers.
