Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.459 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 2

With the tournament continuing, it was time for the second semifinal match.

And it was between the second Prince, Elias. And the Hero’s countries resident cat-girl guide/espionage agent/whatever she actually is, Ula.

I flipped the coin, Elias called for heads, but the coin landed on tails, so Ula got to pick who would go first. She decided to go first and the duel began.

Since Ula was going first, she didn’t get a draw. She just set a monster, followed by setting three cards face down, and ending her turn.

Elias’ turn. He drew a card and immediately after that, Ula flipped up her Continuous Trap, Non-Fusion Area. Now neither of them can Fusion Summon monsters.

Spoiler

Elias frowned a bit seeing the card, but it didn’t stop him. He began by discarding a Thunder Dragon, adding two more copies from his deck to his hand.

Naturally he couldn’t fuse them together, so instead he activated Graceful Charity, drawing three cards and discarding the two Thunder Dragons.

Spoiler

He then activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Non-Fusion Area, but Ula used her set Fake Trap to prevent the destruction of her flood gate.

Spoiler

Elias didn’t seem to have a second MST, as he instead normal summoned a monster, Hibikime.

Spoiler

Ula didn’t respond to the summon, and Elias moved to his battle phase. He attacked Ula’s face down monster with Hibikime, but the face down monster was a Giant Soldier of Stone, so Elias took 550 damage.

Spoiler

Elias ended his turn by setting a spell/trap card.

Spoiler

Back to Ula. After drawing a card, Ula normal summoned Beautiful Headhuntress. She then equipped Black Pendant to it, granting it another 500 attack.

Spoiler

Ula didn’t turn her Giant Soldier of Stone to attack mode, but instead went straight into her battle phase. She attacked Hibikime with her boosted Beautiful Headhuntress.

Elias countered by flipping up his set Quick-Play Spell, Rush Recklessly, raising Hibikime’s attack to 2150, which is just over the boosted Beautiful Headhuntress.

Spoiler

Headhuntress was destroyed, Ula took 50 damage, and since Black Pendant was destroyed, Elias took 500 burn damage.

Ula had no choice but to end her turn.

Elias turn.

He drew and started off his turn by playing Upstart Goblin, drawing a card and giving Ula 1000 life points. He followed that up with a second Upstart Goblin, followed by a Pot of Greed. He then played Graceful Charity, drawing three cards before discarding two copies of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Spoiler

He then activated two copies of Monster Reborn from his hand, summoning back the two Blue-Eyes White Dragons he just sent to the GY. Elias then normal summoned Queen's Double in attack mode, before moving to his battle phase.

Spoiler

Elias had one of his Blue-Eyes annihilate Giant Soldier of Stone, and then his other Blue-Eyes, as well as his Hibikime and Queen's Double attacked directly.

Ula didn’t stop any of the attacks, so she took 4800 damage, taking Ula down to 5150 life points.

Elias ended his turn.

Spoiler

Ula’s turn, and she drew. She quickly activated her Pot of Greed, drawing two more. She then set both cards she drew and ended her turn.

Elias’ turn, and as he saw the card he drew, he got an almost manic grin onto his face. He then tributed both his Hibikime and Queen's Double to tribute summon his third Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Sadly for him, it wasn’t to be. Because a tribute summon is still a normal summon, and Ula had a card waiting. Trap Hole destroyed Elias’ just summoned Blue-Eyes.

Spoiler

Elias then moved to battle, attacking directly with a Blue-Eyes, but again, he was stopped. This time, by Sakuretsu Armor. And so, Elias’ second Blue-Eyes bite the dust.

Spoiler

Elias then attacked with the third, but this time, Ula didn’t counter him, opting to take the 3000 damage.

Spoiler

Ula’s turn, and she drew. She then activated the card she got, Monster Reborn, calling out one of Elias’ Blue-Eyes White Dragons to her side of the field.

Ula didn’t choose to attack with it, simply ending her turn.

Elias’ turn, and he drew. He started off with a Graceful Charity, to which he discarded The Snake Hair and Dragon Zombie.

Spoiler

He followed that up by playing A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon, returning his Blue-Eyes to his hand, while both Ula’s Non-Fusion Area and her down spell/trap would be destroyed.

In response, Ula activated her Waboku, which will prevent her from taking any damage this turn, and keeps her Blue-Eyes safe this turn.

Or that is what she thought, but Elias had other ideas. Because he activated Brain Control, taking control of Ula’s Blue-Eyes. Not that it will do him much good, since Ula won’t take damage anyway.

Spoiler

That is, if it wasn’t for Elias’ next card. Silent Doom. With it, he special summoned a Blue-Eyes from his GY in defense position. He then banished the two Blue-Eyes on his field and the one in his hand to fusion summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

Spoiler

But since Ula was still protected by Waboku, Elias ended his turn.

Spoiler

Ula’s turn. She drew a card, set that one card, and ended her turn.

Elias’ turn. He drew and activated the Mystical Space Typhoon he got, trying to destroy Ula’s face down, but Ula activated it in response. Her Anti-Fusion Device destroyed Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, but Elias didn’t seem all that taken back by it.

Spoiler

Instead, during his main phase, he played his Re-Fusion, summoning back his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. He then used his Ultimate Dragon to attack Ula directly, winning the first duel of the match.

Spoiler
Spoiler

For the second duel, since Elias won the first, Ula was once again allowed to pick who goes first, and she decided to let Elias go first this time.

So Elias did. He fused together Hibikime and Queen's Double in his hand, summoning out Empress Judge. He then set a card and ended his turn.

Spoiler

Ula’s turn, and after drawing a card, she fused together her Giant Soldier of Stone and Ancient Elf to summon Mystical Sand.

Spoiler

Ula then equipped her Mystical Sand with Black Pendant, raising its attack to 2600. Then, instead of attacking, Ula set two cards and ended her turn.

Spoiler

Elias’ turn. And after his draw, he activated Dimension Fusion. Because of it, both Ula and Elias summoned the fusion materials of their two fusion monsters.

So for Elias, Queen's Double and Hibikime both in attack, while Ula summoned Giant Soldier of Stone and Ancient Elf both on defense.

Spoiler

Elias then tributed the two monsters he just special summoned, so that he could tribute summon his Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Elias moved to attack, Blue-Eyes attacking the Mystical Sand, but Ula used her Waboku, protecting her monsters and her life points.

Elias ended his turn.

Ula’s turn. After drawing, she activated Pot of Greed to draw two more. One of the two cards she drew was Lucky Iron Axe, so she equipped it to Mystical Sand, raising its attack to 3100.

Spoiler

Ula then declared an attack with Mystical Sand, attacking Empress Judge. The attack went through and Empress Judge was destroyed. Elias took 1000 damage.

Ula then set a card and ended her turn.

Spoiler

Elias’ turn and after his draw, Ula responded by flipping face up her Non-Fusion Area, preventing all fusion summons,

Elias activated a Pot of Greed. Following that came an Upstart Goblin, then a second Pot of Greed, another Upstart Goblin, and finally one Graceful Charity, for which he discarded Re-Fusion and Silent Doom.

Elias then discarded a Thunder Dragon, adding two more Thunder Dragons from his deck to his hand. Following that came his last Pot of Greed. And then another Graceful Charity, after which I noticed a smirk on Elias’ face, as he discarded his two Thunder Dragons.

Elias then used A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon to return his Blue-Eyes to hand, destroying all of Ula’s spell/traps. That included the two equips on Mystical Sand, the Non-Fusion Area, a set Trap Hole, as well as Elias’ own set card, Rush Recklessly. Elias took 500 damage because of Black Pendant and Ula drew a card because of Lucky Iron Axe.

Elias then fused together three Blue-Eyes from his hand, summoning out his ultimate monster, the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. But he didn’t stop there, as he played Dimension Fusion to summon back the three Blue-Eyes he used as materials for a dragon.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Elias then fused the three dragons together, summoning a second Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, followed by his third copy of Dimension Fusion to summon back out his three Blue-Eyes White Dragons.

Sure after all of that, Elias was left with just 500 life points, but it didn’t matter. He equipped Big Bang Shot to one of his Ultimate Dragons, before moving to his battle phase.

Spoiler

Elias’ Big Bang Ultimate Dragon attacked and destroyed the defense position Ancient Elf, inflicting 3700 damage. His other Ultimate Dragon then destroyed the Mystical Sand, inflicting 2400 damage.

One of his Blue-Eyes then destroyed Giant Soldier of Stone, before the last two attacked Ula directly, winning Elias not just the duel, but the match.

Spoiler

And so, our final two had been decided. As Alice predicted, it will be a match between a brother and a sister. Elias vs. Nevelle.

Sorry for the slightly shorter chapter. These duels are surprisingly difficult to write. (as was proven last chapter with my major fuckup that I was luckily able to patch.) And honestly, is this chapter even that short?

I did plan on having this be a full 3 duel match, Elias losing one of the duels, but I think this works as well. And honestly, having a third duel wouldn’t really prove much, other than the fact that Non-Fusion Area is kind of good when you plan around it.

And yes. The characters still have anime levels of luck with their draws. Cry about it.
