Chapter 16 - Three Courses (2)
Zang Ya, who was about to go to the garden, heard the movement behind him, suddenly turned his head and said to Qing Yue: “Give her another golden bead.”
Qing Yue was stunned for a moment when she heard this. Her young master rarely cared about such things.
However, Qing Yue didn’t think much about it. She just thought it was the cook’s good luck and the food he cooked made the young master happy. She quickly took out a gold bead from another purse and handed it to the maid, asking her to take it with her and gave it to Chef Zheng.
The maid took the bead and said with fear that it would be delivered to Chef Zheng.
After the maid left with the silver leaf and gold bead, Qing Yue began to order people to clean up the house.
Zang Ya wandered to the garden of the mansion. He was going to finish his walk and stayed in the water pavilion in the hot afternoon.
However, when Zang Ya left, the guard Qing Ri who often followed him did not follow him. Instead, he followed the group of maids delivering food to the kitchen.
.
At this time, in the kitchen, everyone who had finished lunch was anxiously waiting for the maid who delivered the food to come back.
Regardless of the hot weather, Chef Zheng dragged his fat body and kept pacing back and forth on the corridor. His clothes were soaked with sweat and he didn’t even notice it. From time to time, he would peek at the door of the courtyard.
Although the other people helping were doing their own things, they looked at the door from time to time. Even though their expressions were not as anxious as Chef Zheng’s, there was a hint of expectation in their eyes.
Only two of them were incompatible with these anxious people. One of them was laying leisurely on a rocking chair, and the other stood beside him and whispered gossip to him.
Of these two people, one was An Yun and the other was Xiao Cui.
After An Yun drank his medicine, he thought about how much food he would make, and selected a few from them, hoping to see if they could be delivered to the young master and see if he would like them.
Since the food was to be presented to the young master, Chef Zheng could not be avoided, so An Yun simply followed Xiao Cui to the kitchen, wanting to discuss it with Chef Zheng to see if he could make the dishes for the young master.
When An Yun came over, Chef Zheng was so worried that a lot of his hair had fallen out. After all, if he couldn’t make dishes that suited the young master’s taste today, he had to pack up and leave.
Although he was a little irritated when he heard An Yun’s request, due to his status, Chef Zheng patiently listened to his explanation and the dishes he wanted to cook.
A layman knew how to be worried, while an expert looked for a way out.
Even though he had never eaten the dishes An Yun mentioned, Chef Zheng’s eyes lit up after hearing An Yun’s description.
Then, Chef Zheng gritted his teeth and fully supported An Yun in making those meals and showed up his skills directly.
Chef Zheng was making a bet. If he won the bet, he could stay. If the bet was wrong, he would accept it.
Moreover, if the young master felt that it was not to his taste and blamed him, knowing that it was what An Yun wanted to do, his punishment might be lighter.
Even with this thought, Chef Zheng still couldn’t feel at ease. After following An Yun’s instructions to make the things and send them over, he began to wait anxiously.
Just when Chef Zheng had gone around so many times and sweated so much, the maids who delivered the food finally came back.
“It’s back, back.”
The boy sweeping the floor at the door was infected by the serious atmosphere and shouted out immediately when he saw the first figure.
Everyone heard the sound and looked toward the door. When they saw the dishes in the hands of the maid who came back were empty, they even felt like crying with joy.
The leading maid came to Chef Zheng and handed the tray in her hand to the maid next to her who was about to wash it. Then she looked up at Chef Zheng in front of her and said with a smile: “Chef Zheng, in addition to the broth, there were many vegetarian dishes, and the young master ate almost everything.”
Chef Zheng let out a long breath and loosened his clenched fists.
The maid smiled immediately when she saw this, and took out the silver leaf and gold bead that Qing Yue had just handed her, “This is what the young master and Miss Qing Yue gave to you, Chef Zheng!”
Chef Zheng was still a little in disbelief when he heard the maid’s cheerful voice. It wasn’t until he saw what the maid took out that he was really sure that the young master was very satisfied with his cooking this time.
Chef Zheng took the silver leaf and gold bead, and felt that the worries of the past few days were worth it. The money he exchanged for these two items was worth several months of his monthly salary.
Chef Zheng was rejoicing when he suddenly thought of something and turned around quickly to find someone. When he looked back, he saw that the person he was looking for was standing not far behind him.
