Chapter 17 - Sharing Rewards (1)
An Yun and Chef Zheng made lunch together, and then they had the same lunch as Zang Ya. Afterwards, he accompanied Xiao Cui cleaning up the utility room while Chef Zheng was walking in rounds in the yard. An Yun decided not return to his house yet, waiting for news.
Just when he heard the commotion outside, and vaguely heard someone shouting “It’s back, back,” An Yun thought and guessed that the person who delivered the food was back, so he walked out slowly.
Upon seeing Chef Zheng, who had frowned just moments ago but now had a big smile on his face, An Yun knew that the young master liked what he had sent.
An Yun went over to ask about the specific situation, but as soon as he got there, Chef Zheng handed two things to him and said with a smile on his face, “An Fulang, this is the reward given to you by the young master.”
An Yun looked down and saw a silver leaf and a gold bead.
His eyes widened immediately. Wasn’t this what he wanted? With this capital, he could start his own small business immediately.
An Yun subconsciously reached out to take it, but stopped when he saw the conflicted expression of the maid next to him out of the corner of his eye. Then he looked up at Chef Zheng and asked directly, “Does the young master know that I cooked those dishes?”
Chef Zheng didn’t understand why he suddenly asked this, but even so, he naturally answered truthfully, with a bit of embarrassment in his expression, “Young master didn’t know yet.”
Upon hearing his answer, An Yun suddenly realized. No wonder the maid next to him had looked at him strangely. Since the young master didn’t know that he had made this dish, then the reward couldn’t be for him. But he accepted it so naturally, the maid might think he was taking credit away from Chef Zheng.
Although he felt a little pity, An Yun slowly retracted his hand, looked at Chef Zheng, shook his head, and said with a smile, “Young master didn’t know that I made those things, so naturally this reward couldn’t be given to me. If it’s not for me, then there’s no reason for me to accept it.”
Chef Zheng was reluctant to part with the reward just moments ago, but when he heard An Yun say he wouldn’t accept it, he became even more anxious.
If An Yun didn’t accept the reward, how could he ask him to teach him how to cook the dishes that the young master might like?
If he couldn’t cook those dishes and just messed around with this cold noodle, what would he do in the next few days?
Thinking of this, sweat broke out on Chef Zheng’s forehead. He quickly handed over the things and said in a nervous tone, “An Fulang, please don’t say that. If you weren’t here today, I’m afraid I would have been kicked out. If you don’t take it, not only will I feel guilty, but I will also have trouble sleeping and eating in the future.”
An Yun was still a little hesitant when he heard this. After all, he was really short of money now. However, if he took the money, he seemed to feel bad.
Chef Zheng was not short-sighted; otherwise, he would not have come to this courtyard, he inquired about the chef before he was transferred in, deduced the whole story, and immediately asked Xiao Cui, who was familiar with the fulang, to go and invite An Yun to use the kitchen however he wanted.
Before meeting An Yun, Chef Zheng still was not sure whether Chef Ding’s assignment to the manor had something to do with the fulang in front of him. After seeing the young fulang’s heavenly appearance with his own eyes, he was filled with excitement in his heart. The guess was confirmed.
Therefore, Chef Zheng became more determined to hold on to An Yun’s golden thigh.
Seeing that An Yun was still hesitant, Chef Zheng added more fuels, “An Fulang, you have such skills, I will need to rely on you in many things in the future. If you didn’t accept it, I’m afraid I wouldn’t dare to ask you for advice in the future.”
An Yun felt that although Chef Zheng looked kind and patient, his eloquence was first-class. After listening to his persuasion for a long time, and because he wanted it himself, he finally nodded. However, he didn’t take them all; he only took away the gold bead and left the remaining silver leaf to Chef Zheng.
When Chef Zheng saw this, he felt very emotional and thought An Fulang was also a wonderful person.
After confirming that An Yun would come over for a walk before dinner, Chef Zheng looked at An Yun, who was already a little tired, and quickly asked Xiao Cui to send him back to rest.
After watching An Yun and Xiao Cui leave, the chef looked at the silver leaf in his hand and planned to ask Xiao Cui to send the jar of candied fruits he had carefully made, together with the medicine in the evening.
With an idea in mind, Chef Zheng turned around with a smile on his face. At the same time, he smiled at the people who were staring at him and said, “Our boss has rewarded me today. Since I have received the reward and have just entered the house, let’s all be happy. Let’s have a big dinner tonight, my treat!”
Suddenly, cheers rang out in the courtyard, and each one was particularly deafening.
An Yun listened to the commotion behind him and looked back. He was a little confused when he saw the joy in the yard, but he still felt happy because of their happiness.
