After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 46 - Another Punishment (2)

After entering, An Yun suddenly realized that he had never met those guards before. How did they know his surname was An?

Additionally, ancestral halls were usually considered forbidden areas within families. Why had he been allowed inside so easily?

An Yun’s mind buzzed with confusion, and a tinge of hesitation showed on his face. But when he spotted Qing Yue standing by the door not far away, his concerns were quickly overshadowed.

An Yun hurriedly walked up to her and asked, “Qing Yue, how is the young master?”

When Qing Yue saw that the visitor was An Yun, the expression on her face quickly changed from cold to gentle, and she said, “The young master is fine; he is inside now. Fulang can go in and take a look. I’m just a maid, so I can’t accompany fulang inside.”

An Yun nodded and started to go in. He paused for a moment when he thought of something, asked for some medicine from the person behind him, and then continued inside.

An Yun didn’t know whether it was the construction of the house or the atmosphere of the house itself, but it had been too hot outside just now. After stepping into the ancestral hall, he suddenly felt a little cooler.

An Yun shivered at the temperature difference. He looked up and gazed ahead. When he saw dozens of rows with more than hundreds of dark objects, he was startled and subconsciously backed away.

An Yun was afraid of ghosts. When he saw these things, regardless of whether he respected them or not, his first reaction was to be scared, and then to leave.

An Yun subconsciously wanted to exit, but at that moment, he heard someone say, “What are you doing at the door?”

An Yun was startled, and when he realized the voice sounded familiar, he looked in the direction it came from and saw Zang Ya kneeling upright in front of the rows.

Zang Ya’s clothes were dim in colour, and An Yun’s attention had been drawn to the ranks, so he hadn’t noticed Zang Ya kneeling there.

When An Yun saw Zang Ya, the worry in his heart outweighed his fear. He silently apologized to the ancestors and then trotted over to Zang Ya.

Zang Ya knelt there, following An Yun with his eyes, watching him walk from the light, through layers of light and shadow, until he arrived at his side.

An Yun came up to Zang Ya and squatted beside him, not daring to look at the ranks in front of them. He lowered his voice a little and asked, “Are you okay? I heard your father punished you and made you kneel in the ancestral hall, so I came to check on you. How long do you have to kneel? When can we go back?”

What An Yun meant was that he would stay with Zang Ya until Zang Ya could go back.

Zang Ya’s eyes fell on An Yun. When he saw him not daring to raise his head, his eyelashes trembling uneasily, it was obvious he was scared but still wanted to stay with him.

“I’m fine. I just have to kneel here for fifteen days,” Zang Ya said softly.

An Yun didn’t react at first, but when he did, he immediately raised his head and said to Zang Ya, “Isn’t that too harsh? Your knees will be ruined in half a month! Didn’t you say your father loves you very much? Can’t you ask him to reduce your punishment?”

An Yun was so shocked that he didn’t hold back his voice, and his volume rose a little.

Zang Ya shook his head and said, “I made a mistake this time.”

Although Zang Ya didn’t think he had done anything wrong, his father thought he had, so he accepted the punishment. After all, he only had to kneel, while many from the You and Song families would likely lose their lives.

Hearing this, An Yun looked conflicted, but he eventually gritted his teeth and said, “Then, can I stay with you here?”

Zang Ya’s eyes flickered, and for a moment, unreadable emotions filled his gaze.

An Yun, embarrassed by the stare, quickly looked away and whispered, “I think it’s boring for you to be here alone. I’ll keep you company, so you have someone to talk to.”

In his heart, An Yun also thought the place was quite scary. Staying here alone for half a month would be terrifying.

Moreover, if he stayed, he might be able to persuade Zang Ya not to kneel so diligently. Even though it might be seen as disrespectful, it would be better than having his knees destroyed.

Zang Ya just looked at him, and after a while said, “Okay, but you don’t need to stay day and night. Just come during the day.”

An Yun still hesitated.

Zang Ya added, “I don’t have to kneel at night, but I can’t leave. There are beds here, but they’re only big enough for me to sleep alone.”

A smile appeared on An Yun’s face. “Okay, I’ll come every day during the day to keep you company.”

Zang Ya looked at the smile on An Yun’s face, reached out to touch the hair that had fallen to the side, and softly replied, “Yeah.”
