After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 56 - Leisure Time (2)

At this time, Zang Ya was laying on An Yun’s lap, listening with great interest to An Yun’s story about the Thirty-Six Stratagems.

In a previous life, there had been a very old radio at An Yun’s orphanage, placed in the utility room.

Perhaps because it was so old, the radio could only receive a few specific channels. One of those channels told various stories—some full of wisdom, others nonsense, myths, truths, knowledge, and more.

The other children didn’t like to listen to it. They thought it was too boring since it only had sound and no pictures. Rather than listen to the radio, they preferred to huddle in a room with a TV and hope the dean’s grandfather would let them watch a little longer each day.

But An Yun was different. He liked the radio, so when he had nothing to do, he would stay with the old lady in the utility room. From time to time, he would lend a hand and help her, doing things while listening to many stories.

The old lady liked An Yun very much. Occasionally, when he helped her, she would touch his head, give him a piece of candy, and praise him for being so sensible.

Sometimes, when An Yun had free time, he would think of the sweet, cheap candy he got in that dark, musty-smelling room.

An Yun listened to all the stories, and later, he read many books. He spent nearly all his free time reading, and he eventually understood the allusions that had once confused him when he heard those stories.

Now, An Yun told those stories to pass the time and entertain Zang Ya, narrating them one by one to make him happy. It was also a way for the two of them to spend time together.

Just as An Yun finished telling the Thirty-Six Stratagems and was about to think of what to say next, he suddenly heard a few “dun-dun-dun” sounds coming from far away, getting closer.

Hearing the sound, An Yun immediately raised his head and looked in the direction it came from, while Zang Ya had already frowned reflexively.

Then, a furry, chubby figure ran closer, jumped nimbly onto the low bed, and lay on the other side of An Yun’s knees.

“Meow~” Snowball raised his head and tried his best to show An Yun what was in his mouth.

An Yun then realized that the reason it hadn’t meowed earlier wasn’t for any other reason but simply because it had something in its mouth, preventing it from making a sound.

Seeing that An Yun was looking at him, Snowball’s eyes lit up. He placed a paw on An Yun’s leg, lowered his head, spit out the flower, and dropped it onto An Yun’s clothes.

“This is for me? Thank you!” An Yun happily picked up the brightly coloured flower and petted the cat’s head.

As Snowball purred in contentment under An Yun’s touch, An Yun felt a weight on his shoulders and a pair of arms hugging his waist. Then, a jealous voice rang out, “This little beast actually knows how to change its tricks to please people.”

After speaking, Zang Ya reached out, crossed over An Yun’s hand, and fiercely rubbed Snowball’s plump belly.

Snowball, thinking Zang Ya was playing with him, wasn’t upset at all. It laid down under Zang Ya’s touch, purring happily in response.

Zang Ya, who had been a little angry moments ago, feeling that the silly cat had stolen An Yun’s attention, quickly withdrew his hand. He looked down at the fur now covering his hand and complained, “This furry thing sheds all year round. It never stops.”

An Yun began smoothing down Snowball’s fur that Zang Ya had ruffled and said casually, “It was born with fur, so it’s natural for it to shed. You can’t blame it for that.”

Zang Ya, dissatisfied with An Yun’s defence of the cat, asked the maid nearby to clean the fur from his hands. Once they were cleaned, he no longer touched the cat. Instead, he grabbed the cat toy he had made, waving it in front of the lazy ball of fur.

Soon enough, the silly cat, unable to resist, jumped up at the toy, looking particularly happy.

“By the way, my injury is almost healed. I’ll take you out to have some fun in a few days.”

Since Zang Ya had been attacked, he had spent a month and a half recovering at home, and during that time, An Yun hadn’t stepped foot outside. Even though the mansion was large enough, it was too quiet. An Yun, who liked the lively atmosphere of the world outside, would have liked to go for a walk if he could.

Hearing Zang Ya suggest this, An Yun felt a burst of happiness, but his excitement quickly faded as he remembered the attack from the last time they went out. An Yun hesitated, raising his head to look at Zang Ya with uncertainty, his expression filled with worry.

“What’s wrong?” Zang Ya asked directly, noticing his hesitation.

An Yun hesitated for a moment but finally voiced his concern, “Last time we went out, you were attacked. What if something happens again when we go out?”

Zang Ya felt relieved knowing that An Yun was concerned about him. He replied, “Don’t worry, we’ve already tracked down the people from last time. My father has taken care of some things, so it should be quiet for a while.”

An Yun’s eyes lit up at that reassurance, and he nodded eagerly, “Okay, let’s choose a time to go out.”

Seeing An Yun’s happy expression, Zang Ya couldn’t help but smile. Nodding toward An Yun, he threw the cat toy toward the door.

Snowball rolled off in a hurry to chase after it, its four paws scrambling across the ground, making the whole scene look particularly funny.
