Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Fusion Complete
As Lin Moze's vision shifted, he found himself back in the small equipment storage room.
Everything was just as he left it—no Kabane monsters had broken in. The only sign of disturbance was a slight dent near the edge of the iron door, where a small gap had formed between it and the wall.
It seemed someone had tried to break in after the chaos began but failed.
Outside the door, faint noises echoed. Something—or things—was gathering nearby.
But Lin Moze ignored the sounds, focusing entirely on the changes happening in his body.
His physical transformation was in full swing. Black-and-red tendrils pulsed across his skin, and his once-ordinary muscles swelled, becoming sharply defined.
Under the influence of his Overlook Vision, he could sense every subtle change—muscle fibers tightening, bones strengthening, and nerves rewiring.
Simultaneously, his brain and neural pathways were undergoing assimilation and enhancement from the virus.
Without his Transdimensional Awareness talent, such a drastic transformation would have caused him to lose consciousness—and, by the time he woke, he would have become a new entity, a virus-driven predator with only his memories intact.
But his talent's protection allowed him to retain control, overcoming the virus's influence and merging with it completely.
As the transformation finalized, Lin Moze felt raw power coursing through every cell in his body, accompanied by an exhilarating sense of freedom.
He opened the Savior Panel again. The display had changed:
[Name: Lin Moze]
[Class: None]
[Talent: Transdimensional Awareness]
[Bloodline: None]
[Skills: None]
[Enhancement: Blacklight Virus]
[Items: Dimensional Merchant Card]
[Strength: ★★☆]
[Evaluation: The virus has granted you power beyond human limits—but this is just the appetizer. Devour, evolve, and climb to the top of the food chain in this apocalypse!]
A genuine smile appeared on Lin Moze's face.
Just an appetizer?
That seemed about right.
Even in the games he remembered, the protagonists only reached their peak after consuming hordes of zombies and monsters.
Compared to them, he was still in the early stages—but strong enough to handle the Kabane outside.
His eyes shifted to the door.
Through the narrow gap, crimson eyes glinted in the dim light, accompanied by low, guttural growls.
Several Kabane, drawn by the scent of a living human, stared hungrily inside.
Perfect.
BOOM!
The heavy metal door suddenly blasted outward, flattening the Kabane outside and scattering them like ragdolls.
Lin Moze followed immediately, gripping a steel pipe he had dismantled from the storage room.
Without hesitation, he drove it into the chest of a fallen Kabane.
The initial impact was resisted by the creature's reinforced heart membrane, but with a bit more force, the pipe punctured clean through.
The monster let out a final shriek before falling silent, and Lin Moze's Savior Panel updated:
[Notice: Initial kill detected. Decomposition and Conversion modules activated. Redemption Store unlocked.]
Lin Moze instinctively understood the panel's new features.
Not only could he disassemble monster corpses to gain Redemption Points, but he could also use a Conversion feature.
The Conversion system allowed him to transform monster remains into materials, tools, or enhancements—but required points and had failure rates.
Another gamble.
The Savior Panel also revealed a new Redemption Store interface.
Lin Moze checked it briefly but was disappointed. Most items were basic materials, with only a few categorized as "Special."
These included things like Quinque Steel, Crimson Ore, and Frostburst Crystals—resources that hinted at supernatural properties but were still out of reach for now.
He exited the menu and used Decomposition on the fallen Kabane.
Its corpse disintegrated into particles, vanishing without a trace.
Lin Moze glanced at the steel pipe in his hand. The tool had already bent from piercing just one Kabane.
Frowning, he tossed it aside and surveyed the area.
The other Kabane, briefly knocked down by the door, were now staggering to their feet. More of them were gathering, their eerie growls growing louder.
"Damn it. I really need proper weapons."
Exhaling sharply, Lin Moze clenched his fists and muttered:
"Guess I'll just follow my instincts and go wild."
WHOOSH!
He launched forward with explosive speed, his hand latching onto a Kabane's skull.
His grip crushed it like a hydraulic press, splintering bone as cracks radiated outward.
With his other hand, he delivered a devastating punch to the monster's chest.
CRACK!
Its ribcage caved in, shards of bone jutting out its back.
Decompose.
The corpse vanished before it even hit the ground, its blood and fragments dissolving into nothing.
The fluid movements and raw power felt natural—no flashy techniques, just brutal efficiency.
But the noise had stirred the horde.
More Kabane surged forward, their roars filling the air as they surrounded him.
Lin Moze responded with unrelenting aggression.
Fists smashed bone, elbows cracked skulls, and knees ruptured torsos.
Each blow sent Kabane flying, their bodies reduced to crumpled heaps.
There was no elegance in his attacks—just pure, primal violence.
Like a predator among sheep, Lin Moze rampaged through the horde.
With every strike, he vented his frustrations—the tension of the apocalypse, the pressure of his debt, and the lingering doubts since his transmigration.
And with each kill, he grew stronger.
