Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Sign In On The Ninth Day! Space Ability?
In the room, Lance experimented with changing the shape of the Vibranium armor again. For a moment, it resembled a sleek Iron Man suit, then transformed into a medieval knight's armor, and finally shifted into something that looked eerily similar to Black Panther's battle suit. After playing around for a while, Lance finally transformed the Vibranium armor into a simple bracelet and let it rest comfortably on his wrist.
"I'm never taking this off," Lance muttered with a grin.
With the Vibranium battle suit, his survivability had skyrocketed. Even if he encountered an unexpected attack that he couldn't dodge, he'd still be protected as long as he kept a layer of armor hidden under his clothes.
"I can wear it as an undersuit most of the time, then just shift it into something flashy when I need to," Lance mused.
The Vibranium suit was the highlight of the day, but it also left Lance with heightened expectations. He glanced back at the remaining metals on the table, his excitement renewed.
Among the pile of metals, the Uru fragment stood out the most. It was rare and valuable—capable of resisting magical attacks—but unfortunately, it was just a broken piece.
Unlike the Vibranium armguard, Lance couldn't transform it.
He even tried activating his cross-dressing ability on the fragment, but nothing happened.
"Either Uru metal can't be transformed, or it's just too small to be recognized as clothing," Lance speculated.
Given how versatile the cross-dressing ability had proven to be, Lance leaned toward the latter explanation.
"If Vibranium can be changed, there's no reason Uru metal can't… I just need something bigger."
Later that night, Lance received an invite from his rich friends to go out drinking and clubbing—again. It seemed like that's all they ever did, but Lance decided to tag along anyway.
The real reason?
They mentioned some beautiful girls would be there.
Lance was skeptical but figured it was worth checking out.
He returned home just past 1 AM, smelling of alcohol but otherwise in good spirits.
Despite the late hour, he was alone.
Lance rarely brought women back to his place—there were just too many inconvenient secrets in his house.
Hotels were always an easier option.
After pouring himself a glass of water, Lance collapsed on the sofa, rubbing the Red Devil's head to keep the energetic dog from jumping all over him.
"Settle down, you little troublemaker," Lance said, pushing the dog away gently before opening his system interface.
"Alright, let's see what today brings."
Feeling lucky after a fun night, Lance activated the daily sign-in.
Ding!
Congratulations to the host for signing in and obtaining the miniature space ability, from the Mutant Magician!
"I knew it!" Lance smirked, already intrigued by the description.
A space ability?
Even if it wasn't game-breaking, spatial powers were always useful.
However, the name 'Magician' didn't ring any bells.
"Whatever, there are so many Mutants out there. I can't possibly know them all," Lance shrugged.
He scrolled through the system interface, checking out the new ability.
[Miniature Space: Delta Class]
"…What?"
Lance frowned.
A space ability, but only Delta class?
That didn't make any sense.
This was spatial manipulation they were talking about—it should've been at least Beta class!
"System, are you sure this isn't a mistake?" Lance asked cautiously.
The system quickly responded.
The miniature space ability can only open a regular cube space with a side length of 15 centimeters.
"…15 centimeters?"
Lance froze.
"Are you kidding me?!"
He double-checked the description, but it was exactly as the system said.
Just 15 centimeters?
Even decimeters would've been better!
It wasn't even enough space to store a handgun!
Finally, Lance understood why the ability was only Delta class.
It was practically useless—more like a party trick than an actual power.
No wonder the Mutant who had this ability went by the nickname Magician.
"It's for magic tricks, isn't it? Pulling cards out of thin air," Lance muttered in frustration.
Delta level, indeed.
"I thought I was about to hit the jackpot today."
But despite the disappointment, Lance wasn't ready to give up on the ability just yet.
After all, he could still enhance it.
Who knew how powerful it might become after a few upgrades?
"System, let me ask you something."
Go ahead.
"If I grant an ability to a potion, and then inject that potion into someone who already has a mutant ability, what happens?"
The system paused for a moment before replying.
There is a probability of genetic collapse. The specific outcome depends on the compatibility between the two abilities. Higher compatibility lowers the risk of collapse.
"So it's not impossible, but it's risky?"
Correct.
Lance nodded thoughtfully.
It was a long shot, but it opened up interesting possibilities.
For now, he didn't have any immediate need to give someone multiple abilities, but the knowledge could come in handy later.
Still, it wasn't something he'd experiment with lightly.
Not unless he found a way to guarantee compatibility.
Shaking off the thought, Lance returned to his current problem—his tiny, underwhelming spatial ability.
"It's basically a pocket for snacks," he joked, but he still planned to test it out.
The ability might be weak now, but once enhanced, who knew what it could become?
And besides, Lance had learned not to judge his powers too quickly.
If there was one thing he'd learned from the cross-dressing ability, it was that appearances could be deceiving.
He just had to figure out how to push this power to its limits.
