As The Only Mutant in Marvel

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Metamorphosis! I Became A Handsome Man?

"Our insignificant Peter Parker trying to get attention again?"

An annoying voice suddenly echoed from the side.

Peter didn't even need to turn around to know who it was.

Who else but Flash Thompson?

"Thompson, Peter's not what you think!"

The voice that spoke up for Peter belonged to a black girl nearby.

Hearing her, Peter's face turned red in an instant.

Luckily, he had his back to the group, so only Ned saw his reaction.

Ned already knew Peter liked Liz, so he just smiled knowingly and didn't say anything.

"Liz, you're speaking up for Parker like that—do you like him?"

Flash Thompson's voice was full of disdain.

"No, I'm just being fair."

Liz shook her head in denial.

Peter's heart sank instantly.

That answer hurt more than Flash's mocking tone.

He felt his stomach twist and tried not to show it.

At that moment, Ned patted him on the shoulder with a reassuring look.

Peter felt slightly better—at least he still had his best friend.

"Hey! You students shouldn't hang around here. Your teacher already moved on!"

An Osborn Group employee walked over and reminded them.

"Got it! We're coming!"

Ned waved at the employee, then grabbed Peter's arm and quickly led him away.

Neither of them noticed the dead spider falling out of Peter's collar.

Moments later, a cleaning worker swept it into a garbage bag along with other trash.

That afternoon, after returning home from the Osborn Group, Peter felt sick.

His head spun, and his body felt weak.

Luckily, since the trip counted as an academic visit, there was no need to go back to school.

Peter declined Ned's invitation to play video games and went straight home.

As soon as he hit the bed, he passed out.

In his sleep, Peter felt like something was crawling all over him.

It was as if hundreds of tiny bugs were scurrying under his skin.

The itching was unbearable, and Peter kept scratching himself even in his dreams.

The sensation seemed to last forever, but Peter never woke up.

It wasn't until late at night that Peter finally stirred, waking up groggily after nearly twelve hours of sleep.

"What's wrong with me?"

Peter rubbed his temples, feeling like his head had been hit by a sledgehammer.

Yet, as he sat up, the discomfort faded as quickly as it had come.

Peter suddenly felt more awake than he had ever been in his life.

His body buzzed with energy, and his muscles felt alive.

"How long was I asleep?"

He glanced at the clock and was shocked to see it was already midnight.

"I slept for almost twelve hours?"

Peter couldn't believe it.

He'd never slept that long before.

"Is there something wrong with me?"

Panicked, Peter got up and stumbled toward the bathroom.

When he reached the door, he grabbed the knob to open it—only for it to break off in his hand.

Peter froze, staring dumbly at the broken handle.

"Did I… break it?"

Before he could process what had happened, something even weirder occurred.

The doorknob wouldn't come off his hand—it was stuck!

"Is this superglue?"

But that didn't make sense.

No one in the house would do something like that, and Peter definitely hadn't touched any glue earlier.

Panicking, he tried to pull it off with his other hand.

Instead, the knob stuck to his other hand as well.

For the next few minutes, Peter struggled to free himself, growing increasingly frustrated.

Eventually, he calmed down and focused on his breathing.

The moment he willed the knob to let go, it dropped to the floor.

Peter stared at his hands, bewildered.

"What the hell is going on?"

Carefully, he reached for the bathroom door again.

This time, the knob didn't break.

Relieved, he stepped inside and turned on the light.

That's when he saw himself in the mirror.

"I've grown taller?"

Peter blinked in disbelief.

He used to be one of the shortest kids in his class, standing at just 163 cm.

Now, he looked closer to 170 cm—or even taller!

"How did this happen?"

Excited but confused, Peter quickly stripped off his clothes to take a closer look.

What he saw in the mirror left him speechless.

Gone was his thin, scrawny frame.

In its place was a body that looked like it belonged to a fitness model.

His six-pack abs, broad shoulders, and toned biceps made him look like he had spent years working out.

"I… I look amazing!"

Peter grinned and struck a few poses in the mirror.

He couldn't stop smiling.

But then reality hit him.

This wasn't normal.

Nobody transformed like this overnight.

"What's happening to me?"

Peter couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear.

On one hand, he looked better than he ever thought possible.

On the other, he had no idea what had caused it—or what it meant.

Was it the spider bite?

Peter reached up and touched the back of his neck.

The bite mark was still there.

He stared at himself in the mirror, a mix of curiosity and dread swirling in his mind.
