Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Honest Peter! Is The Osborn Group Conducting Strength Enhancement Experiments?
Peter had fantasized about becoming a superhero ever since he was a kid.
The first hero he admired was Iron Man.
After all, Iron Man was the first superhero to appear vividly in Peter's life.
As for Captain America?
Well, he was more of a historical figure.
Sure, Captain America had returned to life, but to Peter, he still felt like someone out of a history textbook.
So if one day Peter gained the opportunity to become a superhero himself, he was sure he'd be thrilled.
"So I'm not going to turn into a big monster, right?"
Peter mumbled to himself.
Though he couldn't be absolutely certain yet, his earlier worries started to fade.
"Maybe I should get myself a suit too—and help those in need!"
Peter's excitement began to grow.
Now that he had these new abilities, he felt he couldn't sit idly by anymore.
He'd been powerless before, but now?
God had given him powers, and he had to use them for good.
As Peter imagined himself as a superhero, a sudden noise interrupted his thoughts.
A faint clink came from outside the warehouse.
"Who's there?"
Peter instantly turned toward the sound, his eyes scanning the darkness.
His senses were sharper than ever, and he spotted movement in the shadows.
"Show yourself!"
Peter's heart raced as he braced himself for confrontation.
Was this his first encounter with a criminal?
Excitement surged through him.
But then a tall figure stepped into the dim light.
Luke Cage frowned as he brushed off some rust from his hand.
He'd accidentally knocked over a piece of metal while hiding, giving himself away.
"Don't panic, kid."
Luke raised both hands to show he wasn't a threat.
"I'm not a bad guy."
Peter's excitement deflated slightly.
It turned out this wasn't a criminal after all.
Still, he remained cautious.
"Who are you?"
"I live nearby," Luke explained.
"I saw something strange, so I came to check it out."
Peter's eyes widened.
"You saw everything?!"
Panic set in as Peter realized how careless he'd been.
He hadn't even started fighting crime yet, and his identity was already exposed?
This was bad.
Seeing Peter's reaction, Luke quickly added, "Relax. I won't tell anyone."
But Peter wasn't that naive.
He didn't fully trust Luke, and it showed on his face.
Luke noticed and decided to prove himself.
Without saying another word, he walked over to a wrecked car, grabbed it with both hands, and effortlessly lifted it off the ground.
Peter's jaw dropped.
"How about now? Do you believe me?"
Luke set the wreckage down gently, as if it weighed nothing.
Peter was in awe.
"That's insane! You're so strong!"
He circled Luke, inspecting his muscular arms.
Even after his transformation, Peter felt small compared to this towering man.
Luke stood nearly 6'6", while Peter barely scraped 5'7".
Totally unfair!
But Peter reassured himself—he was still growing.
He was only 15, after all.
Maybe he'd hit 6 feet one day.
At least he hoped so.
"You're pretty strong yourself," Luke said with a grin.
Peter beamed at the compliment but was still bursting with questions.
"How did you get so strong? Were you born like this? Or did something happen to you?"
Luke held up a hand to quiet Peter down.
"Listen, kid."
Luke's tone turned serious.
"I'm guessing these changes in your body are recent, right?"
Peter nodded.
"Yeah, it all started today."
He hesitated for a moment, but then spilled everything—how he'd slept for 12 hours, woke up to find his body changed, and suspected it had something to do with a spider bite during the school visit to Osborn Labs.
Luke frowned.
"Osborn Group?"
Luke had definitely heard of the company.
It was one of the biggest corporations in the world, second only to Stark Industries.
But Peter's story made him uneasy.
Luke initially thought Peter had been experimented on.
Instead, it turned out this transformation was an accident?
That was even more alarming.
If a single spider bite could create someone like Peter, what else was the Osborn Group hiding?
"That spider… it couldn't have been normal," Luke muttered.
He looked at Peter, who was staring back at him with wide eyes, still processing everything.
Luke couldn't deny it—Peter had to be one of the luckiest people alive.
Experiments like this almost always ended in tragedy.
But Peter had not only survived—he'd gained powers from it.
Talk about hitting the genetic lottery.
"Kid, you need to be careful."
Luke warned.
"If the Osborn Group is behind this, there might be others like you. And not all of them will use their powers for good."
Peter swallowed hard, suddenly feeling the weight of responsibility.
"I'll be careful," he promised.
But deep down, he couldn't shake the excitement building inside him.
