chapter 6
6 – Why are you out there?
A week after the test.
For the entrance ceremony that finally took place, Lone and I moved to the academy together.
Now, I am not a test taker, but a freshman.
Therefore, our attire has changed from the somewhat shabby attire we wore when we came up from our hometown, to the neat school uniform worn by cadets.
‘It’s filthy wide.’
When I arrived at the auditorium where the entrance ceremony was to be held, I was overwhelmed by the size of my mouth.
It looked big enough from the outside, but once inside, it was no different from moving a playground.
Wouldn’t this be enough to be a burden even when holding an event?
I don’t know why it was built so wide.
It’s open, so it’s nice in terms of aesthetics.
Anyway, I went inside the auditorium, got my ID checked, and was looking for a seat.
Lorne gently tugged at the sleeve of my arm and pointed at her.
“I wonder if we should sit in a class.”
“Yes.”
What you see there is a fairly large signpost with the letters A and B written on it.
As it was described in the original work, I nodded my head unimpressed and looked for the signpost with the letter E.
Then you have to break up with Lone at this point.
“Then, I’ll wait in front after the entrance ceremony!”
“You can go first.”
“It’s better to go together.”
He nodded because he wasn’t wrong.
Well, the road to the dormitory is quite long, so it would be nice for both of us to talk to each other.
After sending Lone first, I headed to the E class line at the far right.
In the middle of moving his steps, starting with the rows of Class A and scanning the atmosphere of each class one by one.
I smiled bitterly at the difference in air felt in each class.
Certainly, the kids transferred to class A or B have a lively atmosphere as a whole.
It seemed like they were laughing and chatting with each other, and there was a strong sense of harmony.
On the other hand, the cadets in Class E, where I was supposed to sit, felt a kind of morale that could only come from a corpse.
Eyes and despair as if asking why they had to be here. Even so, the conflict that I couldn’t throw away the opportunity that I had been admitted to was revealed.
‘Is it because he has such a high level of pride?’
Well, in a way, it might be natural.
Because most of the students who enter the academy are often the children of high-nosed aristocratic families.
Most likely, they were in the position of vested interests looking down on someone, and there must be many people who have lived their lives thinking that they are better than others.
However, after entering the academy, from the beginning, I was put in a position at the bottom of the caste system called Class E, so maybe I couldn’t admit the reality.
Since it was a sensibility that a rural novice like me would not understand, I headed towards an empty seat and sat down.
Of course, I also hoped that I would be assigned to at least class C and continue my prosperous school life.
But now, just passing the exam was a level where I should be thrilled, so I didn’t feel particularly hopeless.
“Hello! Are you also in Class E?”
“Hmm?”
As I was staring at the podium in front of me without much inspiration, a strange voice approached me.
When I turn my head, what I see there is a girl with light orange hair that I haven’t even seen in the original work.
His body was similar to Lone’s, and there was a bright smile on his lips wondering what he was so happy about.
“My name is Tina Everett. Wouldn’t it be rude to talk suddenly?”
“There is no excuse for that. I must be Bel Dinau.”
When she readily gave her hand, saying her name, Tina greeted me with her two hands and shook my hand roughly.
“Wow! You are really nice! I’ve never seen anyone respond in such a friendly way today!”
‘I’m sure everyone would react that way if I talked to them excitedly alone in the mood of the funeral home.’
I wanted to give him a shot like that, but I didn’t bother pouring cold water on him because he seemed very excited.
Anyway, it’s quite high tension.
In the original work, the characters I saw were somewhat calm like yesterday’s Elisha, or there were few bright and cheerful characters like Lone, even though they had an atmosphere.
Maybe that’s why Tina’s presence came to me in a fresher way, so I felt welcome.
Fun is guaranteed when you get to know a case like this.
“Anyway, take good care of me in the future! By the way, you can call me Tina.”
“It’s enough for me as well.”
It’s the first time in my life that we call each other by name within less than three minutes of meeting, but it wasn’t awkward.
In the first place, in the world I originally lived in, it was natural to call each other by their first names.
Rather, I still belong to the awkward axis of being called by my last name.
Right after the naming convention was over, I felt a hint that the entrance ceremony was about to begin.
It’s also worth it, because the faculty members appeared on the stage one by one and a representative began to slowly move to the center of the stage.
While watching the stage for the event, with this indescribable strange feeling, unfamiliar yet familiar.
Some kind of human figure sneaked up next to me.
Fluff.
“Ha ha ha…. Fortunately, I guess it’s not too late.”
I turned my head slightly at the voice of the man sitting next to me, spitting out a typical latecomer’s comment.
For some reason, I felt as if I had experienced this situation somewhere.
“… Uh?”
Immediately, I turned my head and saw a male student in front of me, as if I had seen it somewhere.
Unknowingly, a single exclamation escaped from my mouth.
Blue hair and a good-looking smile.
There is even a scar on his left cheek that looks like it was cut by something.
It’s definitely a person I’m seeing for the first time, but I’m familiar with it.
No, it’s not the first person I’ve seen. To be more precise, it should be said that it is the first time ‘seeing it in real life’.
‘Aden Feltner.’
The protagonist of the original work who should be in the C class line, not E class.
It was as if my head froze at the sight of him who should not appear in front of me right now.
Why the hell is this bastard here?
* * * *
After that, I don’t remember the contents of the entrance ceremony at all.
Arden Feltner.
After that bastard appeared, he couldn’t even see the surrounding scenery, and his ears were constantly muffled, as if he had something stuck in them.
“Belle, is something going on?”
“Oh, no. Nothing.”
After the entrance ceremony, they head to their assigned dormitories.
Lorne showed a worried expression, perhaps because he felt that my expression was unusual.
Originally, I would have responded as nonchalantly as possible, but I was mentally short on time, so I answered rather sloppily.
Because of that, the doubts in Lorne’s eyes showed no signs of disappearing.
Normally, I would have been busy saying that it was nothing, but now I have no time to worry about Lone.
‘Why did you come to Class E?’
According to the original story, Arden tries to hide his power as much as possible, fearing that his followers will find out about his existence.
In the process, it was judged that there is a high possibility that their eyes will reach Class A, which is made up of honor students.
During the exam, he was deliberately assigned to class C while receiving low scores, and there he made contact with the original characters, including Lorne.
In other words, if he doesn’t go to class C, there are too many twisted elements from the beginning of the story.
What I had in mind yesterday was Lorne’s awakening and his first encounter with his followers.
That key turning point won’t come true as it is.
‘My head hurts.’
Of course, I didn’t think that reality would flow unconditionally as the original.
However, the fact that Aden, the main character of the original work, flowed into class E, is an important factor that needs to be reviewed.
What if, unlike the original, Aden didn’t develop her strength and entered E class purely because her skills were really bad?
Or what if there was another reason why I had to come to class E that I don’t know about? What if that would have a significant impact on the flow of the story?
There are too many variables.
If it’s a simple change of heart that reveals only the power of class E, not class C, that would be the best result.
However, if it is the former, I don’t want to imagine the future that will unfold after that.
A world in which the original protagonist has no power to defeat evil.
That’s just a doomed ending.
“Whoa.”
Putting my thoughts aside for a moment, I took a deep breath and tried to regain my composure.
Anyway, even if you roll your head right now, it’s not even a sharp number.
Unexpectedly, it may be for a very trivial reason, and it may be possible to do something with the main character correction.
First of all, what I have to do now, whether I like it or not, is to get close to him and find out his true intentions.
Only then will I be able to reorganize the stance I should take in the future and draw a rough outline of the story that will follow in my head.
“I’m sorry. I must have been a little nervous because it was the day of admission. It’s fine now.”
Having regained my sanity, I first handed over an apology to Lone.
Since a little while ago, he stood next to her like a manger seat and didn’t even talk to her with a serious expression on her face.
Unsurprisingly, Lorne looked up at me with her eyes still mixed with concern and replied cautiously.
“I’m glad if that’s the case…. Isn’t it really a big deal?”
“Sure. Did you see what I was hiding from you?”
Even if I say it, I don’t think it’s too shameless.
But it’s true that we shared even the smallest things with each other, except for things that should be kept secret.
Then Lone stared into my eyes.
Somehow, his appearance was quite different from usual, to the point where you could even feel the chill, but he soon returned to his usual innocent face and was lost.
“Okay. I will believe Instead, if something happens, do you have to tell me?”
“Don’t worry.”
She smiled and answered Lone’s new request and moved her steps again.
Then, before long, at the end of our gaze, a total of four buildings that we saw yesterday appeared.
Perhaps the reason there are only four instead of five is because Class A doesn’t have the Loferia crown.
As I remember, the Loferia Hall was built in a separate location somewhat away from the main building of the academy.
As it is a place where the best students in the academy stay, the building is said to be quite luxurious.
According to the original work, it is reminiscent of a fairly modest palace, and it is said that everything such as the shower room, kitchen, and living room is divided, and it is actually a scene where a house has been moved.
‘I’m so envious.’
As I reached the end of the road, biting my bitter taste at the thought that it was a place far away from me, a fork in the road and a signpost appeared.
If you turn right here, you will find Aslet Hall, a gathering place for inferior students.
If you turn left, the rest of the dormitories will appear except for Loferia Coffin.
Looking at this sign, I can’t help but feel that I am going into exile.
Even in the original work, it is said that Aslet Hall is built in a rather dark and gloomy place unlike other dormitories, but I would have thought that even the way to get there would be the exact opposite.
At times like this, I feel very envious of Lone, who was assigned to Class C.
Although I’m the lucky guy who crawled into Class E from the brink of being eliminated, that’s not what I’m talking about.
“You must go that way. See you tomorrow, Lorne.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow. Bell.”
I greeted Lorne lightly, turned her body, and headed straight for her dormitory building.
Perhaps I was on the late side, so I hardly saw the other students following me.
“Freshman, check the assigned room before going up.”
“Yes.”
Following the headmaster’s words, I approached a piece of paper pasted on the glass wall and checked the room number.
No. 208. It’s going to be the same beggarly room anyway, but thinking that this is where I’ll be living in the future somehow made me feel cold.
The moment I arrived at the second floor along the stairs.
– Squeak.
“I can’t live in a place like this! f*ck!”
A man who came out of the room with a mouse passed by me screaming.
It’s just as crazy as a mouse.
So, what are the things that have grown precious? Tztz.
