Chapter 163
Chapter 163
『 Translator – Divinity 』
“There would be no trace of Seidel Luriantz living there, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct. It must be magic. Spells to hide or manipulate space are common among wizards.”
The fact that there was no trace of Seidel Luriantz in the house he frequented meant that he must have set up some kind of mechanism, like in Soliel’s shop.
Damian considered this a significant gain, as he at least knew the address now. Freeman waited for a moment, then spoke again.
“Do you have anything else to say?”
“This is enough for today,” Damian replied.
Freeman nodded and left the cafe without hesitation. He quickly disappeared into the crowd.
Damian and the other two, who remained in the cafe, frowned as they looked at the photo Freeman left behind.
“This is truly disgusting.”
“How can he even think of something like this?”
“Exactly.”
As Damian muttered with a sigh, someone whispered behind them as if they had been there all along.
“You have quite a wide network, customers.”
“Eek!”
Lilliana let out an involuntary scream and turned around. As everyone in the cafe looked at them, the owner of the voice quickly pulled their hat down low.
“It wouldn’t be good for me if my face was known, so please don’t draw attention to me.”
“Mr. Tilman, what brings you here?” Damian asked with wide eyes, recognizing the person.
This was the first time Tilman had come to them without being called.
Tilman grinned and said, “I stumbled upon some information while investigating another matter, and I was wondering if you’d like to buy it…”
“Stumbled upon? What is it?”
Casey eyed him suspiciously, and Tilman whispered, “You know Glenn, right? Glenn Delphes.”
Damian and Casey blinked at the unexpected name that came from Tilman’s mouth.
“Would you like to buy it?”
“Glenn? Who’s Glenn?” Lilliana asked.
Casey’s eyes wavered slightly at her question. Damian, unsure how to react in front of Lilliana, quietly observed Casey.
Casey, unable to break his promise to help Lilliana regain her memories, reluctantly spoke.
“He’s your friend.”
“A friend? I had a friend? What does he do?”
“He’s the son of the village head where we lived, and we hung out sometimes. He was a bit younger than us.”
Lilliana’s eyes sparkled at his words.
“Really? Were you close? What’s his personality like? What does he look like?! Could he be the one I liked?!”
Casey’s face grew weary at Lilliana’s barrage of questions.
“We were close, but we kept a distance. He had an arrogant personality, and he had ordinary carrot-colored hair and potato-like features. And he’s not the one you liked. Probably.”
Damian snorted at Casey’s blunt assessment.
“Eh? Really?” Lilliana seemed a bit disappointed.
“If he looks like a potato, then he’s probably not the one I liked, as you said, brother.”
“You judge people by their looks, Lilliana?”
“Isn’t that obvious? Looks are the preliminary round.”
Damian briefly wondered if his handsome appearance passed Lilliana’s preliminary round.
Although it was a bit embarrassing to admit, Lilliana always complimented Damian’s face sincerely, so he felt a bit confident.
“Mr. Tilman, wouldn’t you like to make a deal with me instead of my brother? If you investigate my lost memories, I’ll pay you double the price,” Lilliana whispered to Tilman, but he replied with a regretful look.
“Our contract has a confidentiality clause, so I don’t think that’s possible. I’m someone who operates on trust rather than money!”
“Ugh!” Lilliana gritted her teeth.
“You said you’d cooperate with me in recovering my memories, but now you’re not even letting me hire an informant?”
Lilliana glared at Casey, and Tilman shook his head.
“Ah, I’m not under contract with Mr. Casey, but with Mr. Damian, so I need his permission.”
“Damian!”
Lilliana snapped at Damian, but he ignored her and asked, “More importantly, what’s this information about this Glenn guy that I don’t know?”
Damian and Casey couldn’t help but take Tilman’s bait.
Tilman rubbed his index finger and thumb together, and Casey took out a wad of cash from his wallet and placed it on the table. Tilman quickly pocketed it and cleared his throat.
“It turns out that this guy named Glenn is working at Eugene Loud’s father’s trading company.”
“Oh my, what a coincidence…”
Lilliana exclaimed with an innocent look, but Casey jumped up from his seat.
“So, was it because of that guy that information about our hideout was leaked to Marquis Sutton?! Is that Glenn guy one of Marquis Sutton’s people?!”
“Well, he’s not one of Sigmund Sutton’s people. So I don’t know if the information was leaked through Glenn Delphes. But I’m telling you this because it’s a bit suspicious to dismiss it as a coincidence.”
“I knew I didn’t like him from the start…”
Casey’s eyes widened in anger. Damian sighed and pulled Casey down by his sleeve.
“Sit down for now. It’s not confirmed yet,” he said.
“But he’s the only one who could have leaked the information!”
“I know, so just sit down.”
Casey grumbled and reluctantly sat back down. Damian calmly asked Tilman, “I understand about that matter. Is there any other information you haven’t told me?”
“That’s all for now. I rushed over here because I wanted to let you know as soon as I found out. Haha!”
Tilman laughed cheerfully, but Casey frowned and grumbled, “Wait a minute. That’s it?! What are we supposed to do with that? Give us our money back.”
“No way! You already paid, why are you trying to take it back?!”
“You haven’t brought anything concrete besides the fact that Glenn works at the Loud trading company, so why are you trying to charge us so much for this information?!”
Casey bickered with Tilman, but Damian nodded.
“This isn’t bad information. We found a possible link.”
With Damian taking his side, Tilman looked at Casey with a triumphant expression. However, Casey still frowned with displeasure.
Having nothing more to discuss, Tilman rubbed his hands together and asked, “If you have any information about your identity that you’d like to sell, please let me know anytime. I’ll pay you well.”
“That’s not possible,” Casey immediately interrupted, and Tilman said with a regretful look, “Oh… You could at least confirm whether you’re a real spirit or not.”
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that,” Damian said, waving his hand dismissively at Tilman.
Tilman didn’t linger any further at his firm refusal and retreated cleanly.
“Then please call me again when you need me,” he said and disappeared with quick steps.
After Tilman left, Casey said to Damian in a suspicious voice, “Is it okay to keep doing business with him? He’s getting closer and closer to our true nature and the mythical creatures.”
“Since Ms. Annette introduced him, it won’t be a big problem even if he finds out. Despite what he said, he won’t sell information about us as long as Ms. Annette is around. He’s probably more interested in gathering information than selling it. That’s how informants are.”
At Damian’s nonchalant reply, Casey made a disgruntled face.
“Fine, you’re probably right, but why are you stopping me from killing that Glenn bastard?”
“What would we gain by killing him now? He’s forgotten Lilliana’s face. How could he be a threat?”
“Because of that Rain of Oblivion magic or whatever, he doesn’t remember my face?” Lilliana interjected.
Casey rubbed his forehead with a tired look. “That’s right.”
Lilliana was disappointed, but Casey’s face brightened as he tilted his head and asked, “But what if the magic wears off and he remembers? The Rain of Oblivion is also magic, so it’s not permanent.”
“Well, we’ll think about that when it happens. If we follow that logic, we’d have to get rid of everyone who knows Lilliana.”
“That’s true, but…” Casey gritted his teeth with a disgruntled look.
“I shouldn’t have let him hang out with Lily! When she was playing with him, she looked so happy that I couldn’t stop them, so…”
He smacked his forehead in frustration.
“Hey, isn’t it too much to erase his memories when you were so close?” Lilliana grumbled, but Damian was thinking about something else.
Damian cursed his fate for not being there instead of Glenn. If it were him, he would have protected Lilliana and played with her. Then, he suddenly wondered why Lilliana hadn’t mentioned the person she liked in her letters.
With Lilliana’s personality, she would have written about everything she did with Glenn, just like she reported everything else, and she would have also gushed about the person she had feelings for.
What exactly happened between her and that person?
