Beyond the Bloodline

Chapter 27- Crazy Monkeys!!

“Was that you?”

“Indeed.”

“…I haven’t seen you around before. A tourist?”

“From Swuyle. Sensed what was up and came over to join the fun.”

The woman’s brows twitched lightly when she heard Jamie describe her city’s current situation as ‘fun’, but she knew getting angry was pointless at this point so she chose to ignore that.

Jamie was not the only one who saw this situation as something ‘fun’. As far as it wasn’t their city or hometown involved, a lot of people reacted similarly.

“I hear the dungeon that broke is a Level 700 one. You guys are gonna have your hands full when the Legendary Realm monsters come out.

Creatures on that level would be smart enough to not engage you directly and head straight for the other dungeons to break them too.”

The Hybrid spoke as he used his spatial perception to scan the city, sensing the positions of the other Legendries.

“Though I can see you guys have already thought about that possibility…”

“This is not the first high-level dungeon break most of us have experienced so we already know the ropes.”

“Guess so. Have you figured out why it broke in the first place? From what she told me, that dungeon was just cleared recently.”

Jamie’s question made the woman frown lightly as that was one thing that baffled all the Legendries of Clurg, a question they had not yet discovered the answer to.

“…we’re working on it.”

She could only say that in response, despite knowing that Jamie would definitely interpret it as ‘We don’t know’.

In fact, Jamie was the second Legendary from Swuyle she had met, and the first one mocked her about how they were so slow in figuring out the reason, boasting about how things would have been a lot faster if it was his city and some other bullshit.

She half expected something similar from Jamie, but the man didn’t wasn’t even looking at her anymore. His gaze was instead fixed in the direction of the dungeon with a strange look on his face.

‘This feels like…Olivia. She’s not behind this, is she?’

He had sensed a wisp of a familiar aura, a tiny trace he would have missed if it wasn’t for the fact that he was trying to scan the depths of the dungeon with his spatial perception.

A part of him didn’t want to come in contact with this ‘Olivia’ right now, especially as he did not have his full power, but another part of him longed to meet with someone similar once again.

‘Let’s handle the dungeon break first. If it’s really Olivia, I’d think about it then.’

Saying that to himself, he turned back to the beast woman Legendary and spoke.

“Good luck figuring out what the cause was.

I plan to take advantage of the situation and get a few levels, same with these kids here.”

Jamie snapped his fingers and encased the five vampires in a spatial cube construct before concluding.

“See ya.”

With a peace sign, he activated teleportation magic and disappeared with all of them, not before the adventurer he saved had the time to activate her appraisal skill.

“Level…730.”

Hearing the woman’s mutter, the beast woman Legendary raised a brow in light surprise as she didn’t think Jamie’s level was not even up to 750.

‘The aura he released in that instant. It’s comparable to the top X rank adventurers…’

[District 17 Disaster Containment Team, do you copy?]

The sound from the walkie-talkie on her belt snapped her out of her thoughts and she picked it up and replied.

[District 17 Squad Leader Here.

All monster threats have been neutralized.

Reporting presence of foreign X Ranker. Estimated level: 730.]

As soon as she spoke, she jumped back into the air, turning into a streak of light that shot across the sky at supersonic speed.

◇ ◇ ◇

Meanwhile the ‘foreign X Ranker’, was busy smacking an oversized monkey that came charging at him with a spiked club to death.

“Wait a sec…isn’t that a ‘Revenge Monkey’?”

“…it is.”

“Lord Jamie, I think you just doomed this district.”

“I did that on purpose.”

“….What?!”(x5)

The five Vampires could not help but let out exclamations of shock when they heard Jaimie’s reply to the words of the twins and Jorin.

The monster Jamie had just slapped to death looked like a regular monkey, though it was the size of a human.

It was from a species of monsters that had a special sense of camaraderie, such that if even one of their members was killed, then they would attack the killer like the crazed monkeys they were.

Right after Jamie murdered one of them and triggered their Revenge hunt, the Hybrid used the law of trickery’s energy to make it seem as if the monkey was killed by the Vampires.

“Don’t worry, there are only a thousand here. Nothing you guys can’t deal with.”

“A thousand?!”

“That’s a bit too mu-”

{HOOT! HOOT!}

{HOOT?}

*RUSTLE

The sound of leaves rustling made the attention of the five of them all turn in one direction, their gazes landing on a pair of five-foot-tall monkeys who stared at them with slightly confused gazes.

“…”

{…}

Silence pervaded the area as both parties stared at each other, and at that moment, Wanete realised that Jamie’s figure had disappeared.

‘Where did he-?!’

Her thoughts were cut short as she noticed one of the monsters opening its mouth, prompting her to instantly activate a magic-boosting rune whilst simultaneously casting sound isolation magic.

Unfortunately, her hastily casted spell could not stop the noise that came next.

{KIAAAAKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!}

**CCRACK!!

The sound of her sound isolation spell circle shattering was followed by a series of high-pitched screeches and rapid chattering vocalizations, creating a cacophony of echoing cries that conveyed the intense rage felt by the ones making the noise.

The ground around them suddenly began trembling, and the five quickly pulled out their weapons, before turning around and running in the opposite direction of the two monkeys.

{KIAAAKK?!}

“Fuck!”

One of the monkeys suddenly jumped out from a window and landed in front of David, making the vampire reflexively smack it with his fist engulfed in flames.

As the creature fell forward, he rushed up to it and grabbed it, before creating a ring infused with as much flaming energy that he could condense around the neck of the disoriented monster in five seconds, before spinning around and tossing its body into the brown ‘sea’ behind him.

And right after he did that, Wanete placed speed-boosting runes on the five of them, which they used to get out of the area before the monkey’s body cou—

**BOOOOMMMM!!!!!

The sudden explosion was a sight to behold, being nothing short of a dazzling display of destructive beauty.

It released a torrent of heat that swept through the monsters and buildings around, reducing a lot of them to ashes while the resulting shockwave that rippled outward left nothing but scorched earth and billowing smoke in its wake when it dissipated after its force was spent.

But yet, more than a dozen human-sized monkeys burst out of the flames and smoke, with injuries all over their bodies, yet they still charged after the five with madness in their gazes.
