Beyond the Bloodline

Chapter 32-Hecregar’s Support

The torrent of flames and ice from the explosion swept outwards in all directions, but instead of everything in its path to ash like normal flames would, the flames left behind a frozen landscape in their wake.

When the blue billowing smoke cleared out, the giant’s state was revealed—his once towering form now lying sprawled on the ground, with blood flowing from his wounds and staining the ground in the crater around him crimson.

The seemingly impervious metallic skin transformation had been utterly undone, revealing his body that had remnants of blue flames still flickering faintly across its battered form and wounds that had been frozen over.

A streak of blue light crashed onto the ground in front of him, its true identity being Jamie who had finally grounded himself for the first time since this battle began.

“Let’s get the real fight started.”

His voice was low, but its sound waves reached the ears of the wounded giant who silently stared at the Hybrid with his brown eyes.

Silence then pervaded the area between the two, a silence that all those who were spectating from afar recognized as a calm before the storm.

**BOOMM!!

{HAA!!}

Jamie suddenly kicked off the ground and into the air, while the giant punched forward with his upper left arm coated in magic power.

However, the Hybrid’s rising axe kick and its resultant shockwave knocked his punch away, sending the entire arm flying backwards.

The giant narrowed his eyes and the dark red glyphs on his other three arms flashed with light as he simultaneously punched with all three of them.

Nevertheless, Jamie remained undaunted, using his spatial powers to rebalance his body and throw out a flashing flurry of three powerful straight punches, each distorting the space where they collided and inflicting unstoppable damage to the giant.

A loud cracking sound rang out as an illusory projection of the dark red glyphs on his arm manifested in the air before shattering into fragments of light.

Jamie landed on the giant’s stomach after doing this, flicking his fingers and spring-boarding his body forward using spatial energy.

Faster than the giant could pull his arms back, Jamie coated his arm with purple-coloured spatial energy and unleashed a right straight to the giant’s jaw, uppercutting him and causing a fountain of blood to spray from his lips.

Jumping back into the air, Jamie took a deep breath and held up two of his fingers, coating them in energy and swinging them downwards.

The giant pulled back his two right arms and coated them with energy to block whatever Jamie had just done, but it was futile.

**SWISSHHH!!!

{NGAHH!!}

Two intangible blades slashes were projected from Jamie’s fingers, slicing through the fabric of the third-dimensional space and severing any physical matter within their line of movement.

Naturally, the giant’s two arms were no exception to this.

It was a clean cut that had zero lag between the attack and damage, and it didn’t even leave behind a dimensional line after slashing through.

**BOOM!!

The severed arms plopped down onto the ground with loud noises, smashing small craters into the earth while Jamie landed back on his feet and calmly put his fingers back into his pocket.

{…so that’s what it was. Such a strange spatial power that I could not even tell its true nature until I felt it directly.}

The giant muttered lightly while he held his severed arm stumps that were leaking blood, taking a deep breath and creating a sheet of metal around them to stop the blood loss.

His left arm's glyph then lit up with an eerie glow, with the essence of the universal law of metal condensing around his arms as he threw a punch toward Jamie.

However, Jamie only repeated the same motions as before, but with four fingers this time, causing double-layered slashes of spatial energy that cut the giant’s upper arm in half.

A last-second decision to fold the lower arm inward saved that arm from being severed, but he did not have the chance to even do anything as Jamie suddenly warped right in front of his face and threw out a punch to its side.

**BAAAAMMM!!!

The force of the punch caused shockwaves to spread out upon impact as Jamie’s fist crashed into the giant’s multilayer universal law energy barrier.

But the Hybrid’s spatial power was stronger, shredding the barriers with ease and colliding with the sent giant’s face, while still retaining enough force to send his massive 80+ feet tall body flying in the air.

“Hmm?!”

Suddenly, Jamie’s spatial perception caught the presence of something entering it and beelining straight towards him, his pupils darting to the side and at the last moment before it collided with him.

***BOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

The Hybrid’s body was struck out of the air and sent tumbling towards the ground at sonic speed, crashing into the earth with enough force that he bounced back up as he rag-dolled for over five hundred metres.

A long trail of dust and smoke was left as Jamie smashed through everything in his path, with his momentum finally being neutralized when he smashed through a skyscraper’s lower floor, leading to its eventual collapse atop him as the foundation crumbled beneath the impact.

Looking at this scene, was the person responsible for this, an average-height humanoid man with vibrant green hair and eyes. Large, distinct wings sprouted from their back, blending the features of both feathers and bat-like membranes.

Most strikingly, their vertical eyes pierced through the scene, their eye sockets oriented in a unique vertical alignment, distinct from the norm.

{What are you doing, Hecragar?}

The man spoke to the giant, whose name was revealed to be Hecragar, a frown on his face as he turned to scan the creature’s current state.

{That guy can use spatial powers, and he’s good at slicing through stuff with it. Physical defences might as well not exist whilst using law energy is only good enough for a momentary defence.

He can use more concentrated and purer law energy than we can.}

Hecragar spoke as he got to his feet and rubbed the side of his face that had a spiralling wound spurting blood from it.

Upon hearing this, the other winged humanoid monster narrowed his vertical eyeballs in the direction Jamie had fallen, before turning toward the giant and motioning to raise his hand.

{?!}

Suddenly, the space around his body began distorting and he quickly flapped his wings and flew downwards, just in time to escape the space compressing and crushing him within.

“Mehn, my suit’s not gonna be able to survive this.”

Jamie’s voice rang out as he walked towards the two monsters with a wry smile on his face. He dusted his clothes and noticed the tears in some places, muttering something to himself about having to use one of his old suits after this.

Much to the shock of the two monsters, especially the winged one, he was completely unharmed, which was weird considering the nature of the monster’s power.

‘My Life energy should have negated any regeneration powers he possessed…’
