Beyond the Bloodline

Chapter 33- Verdant Restoration

‘My Life energy should have negated any regeneration powers he possessed…’

He thought this silently to himself as he flapped his wings and hovered slightly into the air, releasing magic power from his body to sense for even the slightest spatial distortion so as not to be caught unawares.

“I’ve been meaning to ask this since earlier, but are you two sure the dungeon you came out of is ‘your’ dungeon?”

{…what?}

“I mean, the people of this city had apparently reached the bottom of that dungeon and had dealt with the monsters there. It should take a while before the dungeon can gain more Legendary Realm monsters like you guys, yet barely a few weeks later it breaks and we have a dozen Legendries popping out.”

*KABOOM!!

A massive explosion rang out in the background, from the other ongoing Legendary realm battles happening in the distance. But these three ignored all that fanfare as they looked at each other in silence.

“This dungeon’s level limit was 700.

By that, the strongest thing within it should be an inferior stage. So where did you two intermediate-stage Legendries come from?

When you then couple the fact that this dungeon had been cleared a few weeks ago, plus the strange spatial presence around it, the whole scenario just seems fishy.”

Toward the end, Jamie was more talking to himself than he was to the monsters, but their reactions upon hearing his words were a bit strange.

“Cleared a few weeks ago? What are you talking about?”

Glox showed clear surprise at the words of the Hybrid, something that made Jamie’s eyes narrow slightly as he felt there was something deeper behind this dungeon break.

However, now was not the time to think about it so he simply shrugged his shoulders and looked up at them before continuing.

“I’d get my answers sooner or later.

Now then, didn’t you say you wanted a fight? Why aren’t you going all out yet?!”

The Hybrid kicked off the ground and into the air with enough force to crater the ground where he stood, beelining straight towards the winged monster who was condensing law energy around his palm.

{Arc Convergence.}

In response, the monster traced an arc in the air with his hand, creating a spatial portal, from which a torrential surge of dark green light, condensed and primed with the fusion of universal law energies emerged.

This immense beam pierced through the air and hurtled towards Jamie with uncanny speed, colliding with the Hybrid mid-way with a crushing impact that hurled him downwards towards the ground in the distance.

***KAAABOOOOMM!!!!!!

The collision with the earth set the stage for the second phase of devastation, with the downward crash triggering a surge of energy coursing through the impact site which then spiralled into a titanic explosion that bloomed outward in a dome-shaped inferno.

Flames intermingled with crackling bolts of lightning, giving birth to a catastrophic display of power.

Rings of dark smoke ascended to the darkened skies, carried on by the currents created by the blast’s overwhelming force while shockwaves reverberated outward in a destructive radius, obliterating anything unfortunate enough to be caught in their path—Humans and monsters alike.

Buildings turned to dust, the ground fractured and the landscape was forever altered as the shockwaves surged forth.

{Glox…healing please.}

Hecragar’s pleading voice rang out, making the other winged humanoid monster, Glox, sigh while condensing life-law energy in his palm.

{This is what you get for messing around. Use your glyphs properly.}

He channelled the energy of the universal law of life and condensed it into a massive orb that floated over to Hecragar’s body and permeated into it, radiating a soothing green glow as it enveloped the giant.

{Verdant Restoration}

With remarkable efficiency, it began orchestrating the restoration of all his injuries, and even beginning to regenerate his severed limbs to their former vitality and wholeness.

Of course, using this was energy-consuming and Glox was limited in the number of times he could use it, but doing so once or twice wasn’t gonna put a dent in his X1+ Energy stat.

{Hmm?!}

**BOOM!!

A sudden explosion rang out in the distance, causing a frown to appear on Glox’s face as he sensed something beelining straight to him before the sound of the explosion even rang out.

{For fuck’s sake, what kind of being did you pick a bone with Hecragar?}

He raised his hand in the direction of the incoming presence and used a plant-life manipulation type ability with the energy of the corresponding universal laws.

{Cursed Golems.}

The ground cracked open and gave way for the summoned wooden construct golems to emerge from the earth, creations of the intertwining of the last of wood and life, all roaring with dark green lights in their eyes.

It was then that the blue streak of light blitzing towards them came into view, blasting through all the shattered rocks and half-collapsed buildings in its flight path with ease.

{Just give this idiot a few more seconds to heal.}

Glox gave the command to the trio of golems who roared and jumped forward, swinging their wooden clawed arms in the direction of the incoming light streak.

“Sever.”

The winged monster felt like he could hear that word right beside his ear as in an instant, dozens of projected spatial energy slashes cleaved through the space and split the first two golems into chunks of wood in an instant.

Before the split pieces could even fall to the ground, the streak of light had already reached the third and largest golem.

Naturally, this streak of light was Jamie who was moving at speeds that would make some weaker Legendries have to strain their eyes to keep up with his movements.

Though he was now bare chested and his trousers were ragged as his clothes were destroyed by the earlier attack.

He held out his hand and activated his azure inferno, conjuring a ball of cobalt-blue flames in his palm and slamming it towards the torso of the golem.

The impact generated a resultant force that shook the ground and air beneath as the golem was engulfed in an azure blaze that seared with heat, its wooden form easily melted away like wax before the relentless flames.

Jamie’s ferocious flames were intense enough to melt a hole through the golem’s sturdy frame in the span of a heartbeat, a hole that he flew through and streaked towards the dumbfounded Glox.

Before the man’s brain could even fully compute what just happened, Jamie’s fist had broken the sound barrier and crashed right into his torso, shattering his defensive energy coats with ease.

{GUFAWK?!!!}

The spatial power condensed in his fist mixed with the residual flame energy and caused a distortion in space as the energy flashed back, multiplying the destructive power of the strike multiple times over.

Bright red blood splattered through Glox’s lips, his eyes widening in shock as a vortex of flames bloomed on his stomach and exploded.

“Bye, was nice knowing ya.”

Jamie spoke casually as he coated his other arm in spatial law energy and was about to swing it down, but the body of the winged humanoid suddenly disappeared from his field of vision.

A huge shadow was cast onto the ground in front of him, amplified by the light of his blue flame still burning the golem in the background.

His neck hadn’t even completed its half rotation when he heard a familiar voice call out a familiar word.

{RUPTURE!}
