Chapter 27 The Iron-Faced Investigator

In the territory of the Human Alliance, the city of Xuandao in the Dragon Kingdom stood as a shining example of urban renewal. As part of the Human Alliance's super city plan, Xuandao City was the second super city undergoing redevelopment, costing the Human Alliance a fortune. This significant urban engineering project captured the attention of people worldwide and attracted a multitude of investors.

The future completion of Xuandao City promised to transform it into a financial powerhouse, tilting the global wealth scale in its favor. Anticipating this shift, major corporations had flocked to invest, causing land prices to soar. Among these investors was the renowned Sloka Group. However, due to poor decision-making, Sloka Group missed out on acquiring substantial land in a timely manner, a fact that worried its senior management.

As a world-class conglomerate, the Sloka Group understood the economic benefits Xuandao City would bring. At a high-level meeting, Kamo Sloka, the head of the Sloka Group, sat with a stern expression, his gaze icy as he addressed his think tank.

"Our Sloka Group didn't lead the development of Atlantis, the first city in the super city plan. But I didn't expect you to fail in the construction of the second island city as well. Can any of you tell me what the company gains from your support?"

Kamo Sloka slammed his hand on the conference table, his voice filled with anger. Intimidated by their boss's outburst, the assembled members of the think tank hung their heads in silence.

Their failure was indeed glaring. When the construction of the first super city, Atlantis, began, public skepticism was understandable. Few believed in the viability of the super city plan. But once the city was built and it achieved remarkable success, the Sloka Group's inability to seize the development opportunity of the second super city, Xuandao City, became inexcusable.

Gritting his teeth in frustration, Kamo Sloka looked at his highly paid think tanks, their heads lowered like ostriches. The Human Alliance had aimed to make Atlantis a world tourism center, and the city's annual revenue alone rivaled that of a nation. Now, with the intention to turn Xuandao City into a global technology hub, the expected profit was astronomical.

Despite this, while other corporations scrambled for land even before Xuandao City's construction began, his workforce had remained passive. Now, land prices had skyrocketed, making it nearly impossible to acquire any.

The thought of these missed opportunities caused Kamo Sloka's heart to bleed. "A bunch of trash!" he muttered under his breath. Turning his attention to a man from the Dragon Country, standing nearby, he spoke.

"Hao Ziqiang, what's the status of our talks regarding the Iron Fort Prison land?"

Hearing the question, Hao Ziqiang stood with a confident smile. "Boss, everything is proceeding according to plan. The Iron Fort Prison is over capacity, and if the rating by the Human League's investigation team falls below three stars, the prison will enter forced bankruptcy."

"When the time comes, we will make some more moves, and we will be able to secure this piece of land." 

"Well done, but to be on the safe side, it's best to bribe the Human League's investigation team. I want to make sure I can get this piece of land." Kamo Sloka nodded. To be honest, Kamo Sloka did not initially think of moving the prison grounds. In today's society, prisons hold a very special status. After entering the new era, conflicts between new classes and new groups have intensified, and criminal incidents have emerged one after another. Coupled with the protection of prisoners by prison laws, many people have embarked on the path of crime.
