Doomsday: Conquering the World

Chapter 3: chapter 3

Chapter 3: Searching the Station for Supplies and Discovering Refugees

Based on the short training memory before entering the doomsday game, Roger was not very skilled in checking the firearm, ejecting the magazine, and checking the bullets.

"Not bad, the magazine is full, and all 17 bullets are there," he said, feeling a little relieved. This gun was now Roger's only reliable weapon.

Weapons are the most crucial survival tools in doomsday survival games, especially in urban areas. Refugees and rebels are the main survival threats for players when they first enter the game. Killing lone rebels or refugees could allow players to pick up their weapons, props, and protective equipment, which would be essential for survival.

Roger placed the Glock 17 pistol into a holster and slung it across his body before continuing his search for supplies. He found three keys in the clothes: one small and two large, making him quite happy.

[Apartment No. 15 Door Key]

Effect: Opens the door to Apartment No. 15.

[Apartment No. 15—Room 807 Key]

Effect: Opens Room 807 in Apartment No. 15.

[Locker No. 45 (Male)]

Effect: Opens Locker No. 45 in the men's locker room at the station.

"Not bad, a good start!" Roger thought. Keys are essential in urban areas of doomsday games as they allow access to specific rooms and the materials inside.

Roger stuffed the keys into his inventory and found a flashlight and a piece of chocolate in the drawer. Now, he had collected the following supplies:

Glock 17 pistol × 1

Keys × 3

Flashlight × 1

Chocolate × 1

Mineral water × 1

Food, water, weapons, and a hiding place were secured. Roger's material acquisition on the first day had been smooth. He sat on the single bed in the rest area, opened the chocolate and mineral water to restore his fullness and hydration levels, and checked the regional chat for others' progress.

[Regional Chat]

"Who is in the neighborhood shopping mall? Help me, the rebels are behind me!"

"Brothers, there are five or six refugees near the hotel on the block. Please be cautious!"

"Where should the hiding place be? Nowhere feels safe!"

"Anyone willing to trade a weapon? I have a key to exchange. I want to kill a lone refugee!"

"Whoa, I saw rebels driving armored vehicles around the city. Be careful, everyone!"

The number of survivors in the regional chat had dropped from 1,000 to 983. Roger felt the urgency of survival surge in his heart.

"No, it's not time to rest yet. I need to improve my living conditions quickly," he thought, putting the remaining half bottle of water back into his inventory.

Roger checked his pistol's safety and moved towards the subway station's other rooms. Guided by the station map in his mind, he knew there were no other players at this station. Still, he cautiously walked down the station passage, his weapon in hand.

The supplies were mainly in the staff lounge, locker room, and station control room. He headed to the employee locker room, within the lounge. The door was unlocked. Inside, chaos reigned—tables and chairs were overturned, glass was shattered, and there were bloodstains on the floor, indicating a fight.

Roger cautiously checked every room in the lounge with his pistol drawn, ensuring there was no danger. He then went to locker No. 45, using the key he had found.

Inside the locker was a backpack containing:

Marlboro cigarettes × 1

Encrypted USB flash drive × 1

Energy drink × 1

The [Simple Backpack] had a container size of 20 grids, with slight movement speed and turning speed reductions. Equipped with the backpack, Roger's inventory expanded to 25 grids. He continued searching the room and found a box of matches, a screwdriver, a tape measure, two towels, and a blanket.

The materials collected could now upgrade the rest area and the hideout door—except for an anti-theft lock cylinder, which was still missing. "Now, I just need the so-called doomsday coins!" Roger thought.

Suddenly, Roger's expression changed. He quickly pulled out his pistol, turned off the safety, loaded it, and leaned against the wall, holding his breath. The virtual map showed two red light spots at the subway station entrance, moving toward the station.

Three minutes later, he heard faint voices.

"I didn't expect to kill a survivor today. Too bad he was poor, with nothing on him," said one voice.

"Yeah, but Black Dog said Master Ghostface will organize a sacrifice ceremony soon. If I'd known, I would've saved him for the sacrifice," another replied, laughing.

Roger's heart sank as he realized these two were likely refugees and followers of an evil god.
