Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Flender, the Master of Twisted Logic
Oscar didn't say anything. He simply nodded quietly, turned around, and began running again.
Flender shifted his gaze to Yun Feng and the others.
"Do you wonder why I'm doing this? Why I made him keep running?"
Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun, familiar with Flender's temperament, stayed silent. Zhu Zhuqing, ever aloof, merely cast a calm gaze his way.
To his surprise, Yun Feng, Xiao Wu, and Tang San showed no interest whatsoever, leaving him momentarily at a loss.
The awkward silence stretched until Ma Hongjun, noticing his teacher's discomfort, tactfully asked, "Teacher, why is that?"
Seizing the opportunity, Flender replied, "Good question. It's because he lied. Even if he lied out of camaraderie or some other noble reason, a lie is still a lie."
"You're all still children. Lying is one of the worst vices, and I want you to understand that."
Upon hearing the word "virtue," Yun Feng, Xiao Wu, and Tang San all chuckled softly.
Yun Feng laughed because he knew the story—Flender preaching about virtue was ironic. Tang San and Xiao Wu laughed because Flender certainly hadn't preached about virtue when he'd scammed them back in Soto City.
Flender's expression darkened at the sound of their laughter. Realizing who the culprits were, he quickly masked his irritation and composed himself, turning his attention to Ning Rongrong, who looked as innocent as ever.
"Tell me, did you complete the assignment I gave you this morning?"
Ning Rongrong shook her head honestly. "No, I didn't. It was too far, and I got hungry, so I stopped."
Yun Feng immediately sensed his chance approaching.
Flender smiled faintly. "So, you stopped, went to Soto City with Yun Feng and Xiao Wu, indulged in a feast, shopped along the commercial streets, and then returned just in time to find Oscar. Correct?"
Ning Rongrong's eyes widened in surprise. "You were spying on us?"
Flender's expression turned stern as he responded self-righteously, "As the dean, it's my duty to be responsible for every student in this academy. If Oscar lied out of kindness to spare you punishment, it's understandable. But your actions are unforgivable."
"Leaving the academy without permission, disobeying orders, and making a senior lie for you—each of these is a grave mistake for any soul master."
"If this were a battlefield, your only outcome would be military punishment. Death."
Yun Feng was stunned. While there was a shred of logic to Flender's words, it felt incredibly far-fetched.
If they were to extend such reasoning, then every soul master obtaining a soul ring would indirectly lead to the extinction of soul beasts. Wouldn't that make all soul masters criminals?
Flender was truly a master of twisted logic!
Ning Rongrong, however, was no fool. She wasn't someone who could be easily intimidated.
Her expression turned colder as the gentle demeanor vanished from her face, replaced by disdain and mockery.
"This isn't a battlefield. It's not even a proper academy."
"You're just exaggerating to suppress me. Do you think I don't understand what you're doing?"
Flender's face grew taut with embarrassment at her blunt retort, but he remained firm.
"This place might not be a full-fledged academy, but it is my Shrek Academy."
"Now, you have two options. One, pack your things and leave immediately—you're unfit to remain here. Two, prove to me that you deserve to stay, along with a commitment to follow the rules moving forward."
Ning Rongrong laughed. At just twelve years old, her laughter was undeniably charming and adorable, but it carried an unsettling edge.
"Don't make me laugh, Flender. Do you think I'll just leave? If you force me out, I'll slash myself a few times before I go."
"Or better yet, I'll tell my Grandpa Sword and Grandpa Bone that you bullied me."
"If you really want to push me, I might even threaten my life. What do you think will happen then?"
"By the way, if you don't know who my Grandpa Sword and Grandpa Bone are, let me enlighten you. Grandpa Sword is Chen Xin, the Sword Douluo, and Grandpa Bone is Gu Rong, the Bone Douluo."
Flender's face turned ashen.
Damn it, that's just unfair!
Suddenly, the letter from Ning Fengzhi in his pocket felt utterly useless.
"And you, a mere soul saint, think you can handle two titled douluo renowned across the continent?"
Ning Rongrong's words struck like a thunderbolt.
Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Tang San, Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, and the others were all stunned. They hadn't expected Ning Rongrong to have such an incredible background.
Flender realized that if he couldn't assert his authority now, the team's morale would crumble, and chaos would follow.
If that happened, how could he ever fulfill his wager—or enjoy the benefits of victory?
Left with no choice, Flender clung to his pride. "I may be just a soul saint, but you are still far beneath me."
"No matter how talented you are as the most gifted prodigy of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, you are merely a great soul master. Between us lies an insurmountable chasm."
"If you disdain this place, then leave. Shrek Academy has no room for undisciplined students like you."
Ning Rongrong smirked. "Sure. But if I leave, are you prepared to bear the consequences?"
Flender froze, stunned by her words.
What's going on? This wasn't how it was supposed to go. The letter said Ning Rongrong was headstrong and difficult to control, yet now she wasn't following any of the expected patterns.
Where did it all go wrong?
But there was no time to ponder. After a moment's hesitation, Flender decided to press forward with his plan.
"Mubai, pack her belongings and toss them out!"
Dai Mubai stepped forward, his gaze still filled with disbelief as he looked at Ning Rongrong.
He couldn't believe how resolute the dean was being.
But if the dean wasn't afraid of the consequences, then neither was he.
Although Ning Rongrong was the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Dai Mubai was a prince of a kingdom. Politically, he believed the Seve
n Treasure Glazed Tile Clan wouldn't take action against him.
If anyone had reason to worry, it was Flender.
