Chapter 152: Promise of Shade and Glow
Luslec could feel the gaze of many fall on him but two were of importance, the rest could be ignored effortlessly. The conflicted gaze of the Atlas Douluo and the hatred brewing in the eyes of the Pagoda Master.
Turning away from them disinterestedly, Luslec looked down on the tower that once stood as a symbol of hope of a future of coexistence. Now, it was merely a blood soaked tower that had forgotten its origins.
Glancing behind him, he saw the army he had gathered practically frothing at the mouth at the idea of attacking. Of the roughly thousand that had been gathered, around nine hundred were human members of FUG with a history of tragedy from the Spirit Pagoda while the other hundred…
"I'm going to tear off Qiangu Dongfeng's head." A low growl of hatred left Di Tian's lips as his gaze remained locked on the Pagoda Master who had taken so much from him. Well, Qiangu Dongfeng hadn't done much of the atrocities personally but Luslec understood that logic was irrelevant and a waste of space.
More importantly, Luslec was focusing on the black and gold robes that flowed like liquid shadows around the burly body of the Beast God. It was a divine item, a peak four word battle armor made especially so that it could adapt to Di Tian's draconic form. It was unsurprisingly difficult to turn metal into thread but it was possible due to Imort's martial soul.
Di Tian had brought one hundred spirit beasts to accompany them on this raid against the Spirit Pagoda. The Beast God alone would have been enough when donning his battle armor but the help was appreciated regardless.
"Hey! I called dibs, gramps." The crass voice of White sounded out a beat later, the flowing white robes of the demonic swordsman a battle armor much like Di Tians. In the last three years, his growth was absurd and now he stood roughly equal to a Limit Douluo. Of course, that did put yet another life upon Luslec's shoulders but what was one more?
A pulse of divinity escaped from Luslec, filling the air with tension thick enough that it made the Spirit Pagoda sink into the ground from strain. The fact it remained standing was impressive enough to Luslec. His brother in law had done an impressive job.
Silence filled the air as the breath was stolen from everyone's lungs, spirit beast and human alike, as if the world had frozen. It felt as though the world itself was awaiting Luslec's command, the deathly stillness making many feel as though the reaper had its blade upon their neck.
"Destroy it." Luslec's command was accompanied by an ear piercing roar of agreement as Di Tian's body shifted, a golden glow surrounding his body much like the rest of the army. Rushing forward, the forces of FUG all were surrounded by the glow of the Golden Dragon Emperor's divinity, the enhancing effect of his fourth blood ring.
The Golden Dragon Emperor's Raging Domain was something Wulin had rarely used with the last time being in the formative years of FUG. But, comparing the enhancement from then to now was nothing less than foolish. Once more Luslec was reminded of his growth, the growth that placed him firmly above his predecessor.
Pandemonium quickly filled the Spirit Pagoda's main branch as a small war broke out, the startled and off put members of the blood soaked tower falling victim to FUG's unrivaled momentum. They couldn't exhibit their full strength under the effects of Luslec's domain but he doubted it would make a difference with how they currently were. Fear was abundant after all.
Glancing around the battlefield, Luslec could only snicker internally as he saw the Beast God battle against the Atlas Douluo. It was a terrifyingly close battle despite Di Tian's battle armor and the enhancement of Luslec's domain. It was easy to forget due to his nature, but Yun Ming was the strongest before he came for a reason.
As expected, that left White to battle Qiangu Dongfeng. The effect of Luslec's domain was obviously present, enhanced with divinity as it was, but the Pagoda Master seemed as unaffected as he possibly could be. Not quite to the extent of Yun Ming who had touched the realm of the divine but still quite close. As close as the heaven and earth were, he supposed.
White held his own quite nicely despite being only a Quasi Demi-God and fighting against an enraged and bloodthirsty Quasi God but Luslec had expected as much. Evil Soul Masters always tended to be stronger than their rank would portray.
The rest of the war was leaning heavily toward FUG. Some areas were on the verge of defeat but a quick spiritual swat from Luslec and that chance vanished. Luslec didn't even have to rely heavily on his divinity to accomplish as his |Level 1| was more than enough when enhanced by a drop of divinity. At this rate, he wouldn't even be punished by the Universal Order.
Spreading his Spiritual Sense outward, Luslec pushed past the raging battle and sunk deeper into the earth until the rumble of war was only a soft whisper. He continued to travel deeper, to bring his mind's eye to the very bottom of the Spirit Pagoda. It was there that he found it.
Attacking the Spirit Pagoda was something that would have to happen eventually, but this was not the time for it. All this would accomplish was pushing forward the oncoming war and thrusting the world into chaos. At least, that would have been the case if not for the God Killers.
Whether they could kill a god or not was irrelevant, the fact they were bonafide civilization resetters was more than enough reason for him to come to this place. If they fell upon Shrek, whether Luslec was there or not, hundreds of thousands would die.
Attacking the Spirit Pagoda and throwing the world into war a few years earlier was well worth the price if it meant forces like the Federation and Spirit Pagoda didn't have access to the God Killers. Besides, they may be helpful when it comes to fighting against the Phoenix God.
That was why Luslec was here today. He may spill the blood of innocents and the reputation of FUG may become synonymous with sin but that was fine by him. So long as he prevented further tragedy, he would stain his hands as much as he needed.
His fate was decided the day he chose to fulfill his siblings' dreams. His hands would be stained with blood thick enough to drown this world, but that was fine. Sometimes, what this world needed wasn't a guiding light but instead a tyrant to rally against.
"Grace Mirchea Luslec." The familiar tone of his partner washed over him, the struggle in her voice equal parts sincere and sorrowful. He couldn't blame her, he was sinking into depravity right before her very eyes. This world needed a tyrant, and he had taken up that throne.
But, just as it needed a tyrant, it needed a hero. He would play the part of this world's evil until the day he could lay down the tyrant's crown but until then, he would have to stand against this lovely woman he was blessed to have stand at his side.
"A Jewel is ornamental, is it not? Begone." Dismissively turning away from her, his heart squeezed painfully at the words that left his lips. They wouldn't harm her, he knew that well, but to insult her still hurt him. But he would endure if it meant her dream came true.
To accomplish the goal this tower had forgotten, Gu Yuena would become a hero that history would never forget. To that end, Luslec would sink as low as possible until there was nobody who didn't resent his name. After all, the darker the shadow the brighter the light that destroys it.
To become the worst villain in history. That was his promise to her.
