Chapter 18: The Well Wishes Of A Devil.

It didn't take long for our moment to be interrupted, as a few minutes later, a doctor, along with a few nurses, entered the room, and started checking for my vitals while the doctor asked me some questions and ran some tests on me.

"Your test results came back, and you seem to be doing fine, but we will need to keep you here for one more day to check for any irregularities that might happen. Get well soon, Mr.Ren," the doctor said before she left the room. The rest of the nurses quickly finished what they had to do and exited the room after her.

As the last nurse left the room, my mom, finally having some space, approached my bed quickly and sat back down by my side.

"Baby, can you tell me what happened? Why was there so much blood on the bathroom floor? How did you faint?" She asked. The doctor had already asked me all of these questions, but I deflected them all by replying with: "I don't remember what happened; I blacked out and woke up here," But my mom, though, didn't seem to buy it.

I looked at her, worry etched on her face, the dark bags under her eyes still present. "Mom, I will tell you when we get home," I said, giving her a meaningful look, hoping she would understand the topic was not for the mundane ears to hear. Of course, she was smart enough to pick up on it instantly and nodded reluctantly.

Around half an hour later, our chat was interrupted by a knock on the door and a pair of girls entering the room.

"Watch out, Partner, those are devils."

'Ughhh' Groand Rias internally as she walked side by side with the Sitri heiress towards a particular hospital room.

The boy she had her eyes on, Milo Ren-she learned his name after checking his school records, turned out to be more of a headache than she thought he would be.

He was great a catch to her, one that would help with her approaching problem, and she wanted to take him under her wings quietly to keep him as a trump card against the Fried Chicken. Then the boy turns into a freaking beacon! Alerting every single Magical being in it to his existence.

She remembered it clearly. Right after she came back with Issei to the Occult Research Club and turned him into a pawn, making him the newest part of her family, she felt it. Everybody did, guessing by the shiver that went down every one of her Peerage members' spines. A ripple of Magic, so thick and intense, it could rival that of an Upper-Level High-Class devil, swept thought the entire city. She instantly recognized it. She had felt a similar, but much weaker wave not an hour ago, damn it! She knew it was the boy, but this was too much. What even caused him to release so much power!

But that didn't matter. She had to get to him quickly. She already got his address the same way she got his name; She took her queen with her as she headed to the boy's house. She still had a chance to get to him before others found out the origin point of that wave of Magic.

But luck was not on her side, because when she arrived, the boy had not been there, and when asked, one of the neighbors told her that he had just been taken by an ambulance, describing a scene of an unconscious, naked boy covered in blood.

'Seriously, what is wrong with my luck?!' She grumbled more.

And to put more salt on the wound, he was brought to one of the Sitri hospitals! The devils stationed there immediately alerted Sona to the presence of a boy leaking Magic like he was a broken faucet. She had a massive fight with Sona just to be able to come here to make sure she didn't get to him first.

Her lucky break came in the form of the boy being in a coma for the last two days, not allowing Sona to get an upper hand on recruiting him before Rias knew where he even was.

And she just got the news that he woke up, so both she and Sona headed to the hospital to see him as soon as possible.

'Huuh.. calm down, Rias. This needs to be perfect. You need him if you want to get rid of the Fried Chicken. There was no other way. What she saw of Issei the past two days was not promising. The boy was basically an idiot. A loveable idiot, but still an idiot. She couldn't trust her future with him as he is right now. Issei had potential, but that potential needed time to nurture; Time she didn't have!

'The only reason he accepted being turned into a devil is my tits! I literally had to offer him nothing else! What brand of idiot accepts that sort of deal?!' She thought, and upon finally reaching the room the boy was in, she composed herself and removed any thoughts of Issei fondling her breasts for later.

"Hello, sorry to bother you," Sona greeted after knocking on the door and entering, Rias following after her.

The due of son and mother looked at them; bewildered about why two high-school girls would visit Milo, but then Milo shifted. He tensed, as his eyes went from confused to sharp and focused. Alert.

She didn't know why, but his intense golden gaze made her freeze for a moment, and she felt Sona stiffen next to her as well, but they recovered quickly, and Sona continued speaking.

"We are here on behalf of the school, and the student council, to offer our well wishes and hope for your speedy recovery," Sona said politely, also extending congratulations to the mother, Juri, on her son waking up.

"Oh my, thank you for visiting, young ladies. I'm glad you came to visit him," Juri said, still not noticing how tense her son was while glaring at them.

They knew his mother was present, so they planned on asking her if they could speak with him privately for a few minutes after exchanging some more pleasantries with her.

Neither of them got a chance to say anything else, however, before Milo turned to his mother, his expression relaxing.

"Mom, can you give us a minute? There's something me and my schoolmates need to discuss," He said neutrally with a small smile, betraying none of his earlier demeanor.

The mother looked confused for a second, but with a bit more prodding from her son, she left them, saying she was leaving to bring Milo some food since he had just woken up.

Once Juri left the room, Rias tensed as she felt Magic being used and turned back to Milo, but relaxed when she realized it was a privacy ward spell.

"Now, what business does a couple of devils have with me, I wonder."
