Chapter 5- Moving

That's right, her mother once asked her about Luna, and she said they're not close. Her mother had an unusual expression at that time, more like regretful. She didn't know what happened and didn't ask about it. However, as time passed, every time she walked past Luna, she could feel that there was a wall between them. That's when she started to think about what she could have done, as Luna always frowned and seemed unhappy every time she saw her. At some point, her mother's expression from the past came to her mind.

Out of curiosity, Mira directly asked her mother. Her mother took a long silence before she answered. It turned out that her own mother was close to Luna's mother, they were like sisters that no one could separate. Her mother's expression while telling that story was full of nostalgia but later became sadness because of a man. A mistake and misunderstanding happened between them, but that mistake wasn't something that could be corrected.

Her mother, Maria, told her that the man, her ex-husband, used to be Luna's mother's fiance. Mira was shocked when she learned about it and even suspected that she and Luna might be sisters, but her mother said no. Maria honestly told her that her ex-husband, Mira's father, took advantage of her when she got drunk and was alone. She tried to call for help but had no strength. She tried to resist, but it was no use. When she woke up the next day, she saw Luna's mother, Lilith, looking at her with tears and disappointment.

Her world crumbled at that moment, she knew that she had lost the most important person in her life. She wanted to explain, but Luna's mother blocked her and lost contact with her. She didn't know what that man told her, but in the end, she ended up marrying the man who broke her. At first, she rejected the man's proposal and wants to file a case, but later she found out that she was pregnant. Her life wasn't easy, and having a child alone would be even harder for her, so in the end she decided to marry the man she hated the most. She felt like dying every time she saw the man, but for her daughter, her only blood relative, although her coming wasn't part of her future plan, she knew the child was innocent and she never hated her.

Mira clenched her fist, she felt disgusted, angry, and sad at that time. Her mother had no one and was left alone, being raped by someone's fiance but still couldn't do anything and still be hated by the person she's closest with.

Her mother was a victim, but because of her existence, her mother had to endure more hardships. That's why Mira also harbors some hate towards Luna. But Mira is just like her mother, she can't hate someone for a long time. However, Mira doesn't like to forget that feeling of hate because she feels it's unfair for her mother.

Mira took a deep breath and closed her eyes. 'My mother deserves to be loved, but people keep leaving her behind. I swear, that man is gonna pay for what he did.'

Mira, who finally had a conviction to move decisively, took off the necklace Luna gave her and hesitated about whether she should throw it or just keep it.

" I know you didn't do anything wrong, but your family leaves my mother behind without asking what really happened. My mother suffers more than anyone else alone. I can't be happy," Mira murmured to herself. She was happy having an exchange with Luna; however, she felt guilty because she's happy, but her mother isn't.

Maria, who had just finished preparing to pack their belongings, came to see Mira again and saw Mira taking off the necklace. She remembered that Mira told her it was given by someone, and her daughter seemed happy about it.

Maria lightly knocked on the door to get Mira's attention.

" Mom? Did you forget something? " Mira asked as she quickly hid the necklace behind her back.

Maria walked towards Mira. " You said you liked that necklace. Why are you taking it off now? "

Mira dodged her mother's eyes. " That... I don't like it now. "

Maria knew her daughter well and knew she was lying. " Alright, you should move quickly. I'm already done, and yet you're still in a daze."

" Yes, yes, I'll finish this quickly. You should go back and take a rest, Mom, " Mira said while pushing her mother out of the room, feeling guilty for lying.

" Are you sure you don't need my help? " Maria asked, still not giving up.

" I'm sure, Mom," Mira said after sending her mother out of her room.

Maria didn't insist anymore but remembered her daughter's expression earlier. She couldn't help but say something. " Okay, if you say so... but honey.."

Mira, who attentively listening to her mother, didn't answer but just looked at her and waited to hear what her mother was going to say.

" If you like it, take care of it," Maria only said with a gentle smile before leaving her daughter.

Mira tightly held the necklace and, in the end, she put it in her wallet where she's the only one who can see it.

Mira quickly packed her things- her clothes, her cute stuffed toys big and small, books, shoes, pillows, etc. After that, she made a call to her class adviser to make an appointment for tomorrow. After taking care of everything, she looked around to make sure she didn't forget anything.

After packing, she went to the living room to check, and it seemed her mother had already packed everything too. She sat to take a rest, and not long after, her mother came too.

" You're done?"

" Yes," Mira answered, then she stood up to get her mother and herself some water.

" I already talked to the moving company, and they will come later," Maria said, holding the glass of water.

" So fast?"

" Yes, it's better to leave as soon as possible. Your father is crazy, and I'm afraid he will come and cause trouble with us, even if we're already divorced," Maria said, her hand shaking a bit at just the thought of that man.

Mira held her mother's hand and gave her assurance. " Don't worry, Mom. If he really causes trouble, I'll protect you. I'm a 3rd Dan Black Belt, I can beat him now."

Maria relaxed with her daughter's words. " I don't want you to fight him. He's still your father and I'm worried he will hurt you. No matter how strong you are, it's still better not to engage with him."

" Okay, but he's not my father anymore, I only have you as my mother and my father," Mira answered, then she remembered the baton she bought online, which is convenient to carry around for self-defense.

Her mom is too kind and caring, which makes Mira worry from time to time because her mother is not only kind and caring, she's also pretty. That's why that man still won't let go. If it's not for "accidentally" getting one of their models pregnant, he still won't accept the divorce. However, that model is not just somebody to ignore, that's why that man can only divorce her mother to marry the model, or else it would affect their business.
