Commentary on Chapter 13. Gildarts.
Enjoy your reading!
- Gildarts is coming back," Makarov replied with a smirk.
- Do you always greet him like that? - Eros asked with surprise, - And why is everyone so happy, I thought everyone was afraid of him?
- Afraid?
- Are you joking?
- But then why did people have such a reaction? - Eros asked in bewilderment.
- The existence of two similar magics is indeed a little frightening, but that's all, - Makao answered guiltily, - We thought that maybe you were his son.
- I guess I misunderstood," the titan said embarrassed and quickly changed the subject, "What about the earthquake?
- And you look out the window and you'll understand," Makarov said, following Makarov's advice. The buildings that blocked the view from the window, began to separate, opening a direct path from the entrance gate to Magnolia to the guild, - You're kidding ...
- Gildartsa can easily pass through the city without anyone noticing," explained Wakaba, who appeared out of nowhere, "That's why the 'Gildartsa Mode' was created.
- Apparently there's been precedent for it.
- Yeah.- There's a reason why your guild is called the most reckless....
- Oh, yeah.
- It's not something to be proud of," Makarov only nodded with a heavy sigh in response to Eros' words.
At that moment, a tall and muscular man with reddish-orange hair slicked back and brutal stubble walked through the guild doors.
He wore a black, slightly tattered cloak over his bare chest, with a high collar and armour plates on his shoulders. He had a belt around his waist, loose dark trousers, and armoured boots.
- Hail Master!
- Welcome back, - nodded the smiling Makarov, - How were the missions?
- Everything is fine, all three missions are completed, twenty-two million more to go and the fine will be paid off.
- That's good...
- Hey, Gildarts, stop scratching your tongue, come on, join us! - shouted the magician, raising his mug, all those sitting at the table with him also repeated after him.
- I'll pass today, I'm going to rest," he smiled guiltily and walked towards the exit.
- Gildarts.
- Master, did you want something?
- Yes, - he answered in a serious voice, - Come to me tomorrow morning, I need your help in one matter.
Seeing Makarov's serious look, he nodded slightly tensely.
- Good.
- If it's nothing serious, then I'll go too," Eros said and went back to his dwelling.

He sat down at the table again and began to draw the runes on the wooden board, and at that moment something struck him and he began to draw the pattern again. When the last line was drawn, the pattern lit up brighter than usual and warmth began to emanate from it....
- Really... - Eros whispered quietly, hugging this board, - Finally, and all because I didn't infuse the pen with Aether (Magic Power)... - the next moment, the board just disappeared, - DAMN! I'VE LOST A WHOLE WEEK BECAUSE OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT! - The titan took the board again and drew a rune of cold and the next moment, the rune glowed and it smelled a slight cold and, like the last board, it was destroyed by the power of Eros, - So much time lost, - he hissed and took another book on runes and quickly began to study its contents ...

The next day, Makarov called him into his office.
- Master, may I?
- Come in, - Eros immediately saw the magician with red hair sitting at the table, who looked at the master and the titan with astonishment.
- Why did you call the master?
- I wanted to introduce you to someone, introduce yourself, - said Makarov with a smile.
The titan looked at Makarov with surprise and nodded.
- I'm Eros, nice to meet you," he said, extending his hand.
Gildarts looked at Makarov suspiciously, but shook it.
- From this day on, you will teach this boy how to use magic.
- Are you kidding, Master?! - exclaimed Gildarts, -I'm not hired as a babysitter, I have my own things to do!
Makarov covered his eyes and clutched his head.
- Boy, show him... - Eros stretched out his hand and a cube appeared on it.
- And what... - but before he could finish, he saw the cube flying in his direction.
Gildarts stretched out his hand, deciding to simply destroy the spell, but the next moment something happened that shocked him. As soon as the cube made contact with his hand, he felt a familiar sensation, and when it began to rapidly expand and destroy everything nearby, the mage was completely convinced of his judgement. Gildarts hand tensed slightly and clenched his palm into a fist and the spell was destroyed.
- It is dangerous not to teach him, you yourself should realise that.
- Yes," he looked at Eros's face with surprise, "I understand and I will take the case.
- If you do, then I can rest easy.
- Gildarts, you don't have to look at me like that," the titan said embarrassed, "We are not related, don't worry, I know my father and you are definitely not him.
Gildarts, slightly embarrassed, started rubbing his neck.
- Gildarts is a womaniser, so don't be surprised, he probably thought you were his son by some girl.
- MASTER! Don't disgrace me in front of my apprentice!
- Oh... already an apprentice, that's good," Makarov said with a smirk, "If that's the case, then take him away and get him out of the guild, because he hasn't left the library for the last two weeks.
- Now I'm pretty sure he's not my son.
- HEY! What's wrong with wanting to know as much as you can!?!? - filled with righteous anger, Eros exclaimed.
- There's nothing wrong with that, but sitting in four walls for a fortnight is not good.
- I just got too carried away," said Eros, embarrassed, "And I went out quite often.
- Three times a week, and that was for ten minutes.
- Certainly not my son," Gildarts concluded.
When they left Makarov's office and walked towards the guild exit, everyone's eyes were fixed on the couple and the whole procession was accompanied by an oppressive silence, and as soon as they left the guild, everyone immediately murmured.
- They look so much alike," one of the mages said quietly to the other.
- That's right, but what if the master lied to us?
- There is some truth in it, - nodded the other, - And he lied to hide the fact of their kinship.
- It's pointless to hide it, and what if someone found out?
- I agree, what would have changed, it's something else....
At a neighbouring table sat a group of kids playing cards. One of the girls who was watching the game tried to listen to the words of the older mages.
- Hey, Kana, did you hear something interesting?- The girl next to her said, but when she saw her sad face, she got worried, "What's wrong, did someone hurt you?
She shook her head in response and looked sadly at the guild entrance.
"Son yes?"- she thought, lowering her head.

On the outskirts of the Eastern Forest stood two men, Gildarts and Eros, and at the moment, the titan was breathing heavily, leaning against a tree and looking at the older mage.
- Is that it?
- Yes.
Gildarts shook his head in frustration.
- You can hardly cope with a B-rank mage with such a set, you have no physical strength, and to use your strength to the maximum you should have good physical parameters. And you don't have a lot of magic.
- I only awakened magic a month ago.
- If that's the case, then from today we'll start intensive training to make you at least a B-rank, if not A-rank mage within a year," he looked at Eros with a devilish smile, making him wince, "Attack!
The next hours turned into a mini hell for Eros. Where he was thrown, tossed, kicked and squeezed dry, he just lay on the ground unable to move his limbs.
- Speed and agility are good for a kid, but your fighting style surprised me," Gildarts nodded, "Who taught you how to fight?
- A friend of my father's, he was a master of his craft.
- Very good, that means we are rid of one problem, - he lifted Eros' body and put it on his shoulder, - All in all, the first day went well and in general I am satisfied, I am waiting for you tomorrow morning at the same place.
- You don't want to kill me, do you? - Eros asked suspiciously.
In response Gildarts laughed out loud.
- This is still a gentle regime, but when the real training starts, you will cry.
- Gentle, huh? - The titan asked nervously, at that moment he wanted to punch the smirking face of the mage more than anything else.

Eros woke up surprised because he didn't know where he was. He was in a small room with the bare minimum. One chest, a cupboard, a shelf of books and a bed on which he was lying, as well as a couple of chairs and a table.
- You're awake," Gildarts grinned, carrying a small boar carcass, "I'll cook something and then we'll go on to training and we only have a month.
- A month?
- Yes, in a month I'm going on a mission and I don't know when I'll be back.
- I see," Eros nodded, "I forgot that you were fined for forty million," the mage instantly soured, "I'm sorry, I must have hit a nerve.
- Forget it, forty million is nothing, 3-4 more S-rank missions and everything will be ready.
- If that's the case, how about a bet?
- A bet?
- Yes, if I can reach A-rank strength in ten months, you'll take me on one of the S-rank missions.
- S-rank missions are called S-rank missions for a reason," he said in a serious tone, "After all, even S-rank mages can die on them," Gildarts shook his head, "I can't, it's too dangerous.
- You can easily protect me, and if I reach the strength of A-rang, I will protect myself, or at least I will be able to escape.
- Once again, no and that's it!
Half an hour later, they left the house and walked towards the eastern forest.....
