Chapter 2

After half a day, they reached the guild building. It was located deep in the forest, as far away from civilisation as possible, it was surrounded by a thick forest, and the cloudy weather made the castle look gloomy and made the blood run cold.

The building was a small castle in medieval style, dark, gloomy and with a large sign at the entrance, in the form of a half-open coffin. It was no more than ten metres high, surrounded by a dark iron fence and a dark oak gate.

- Oh, boys, you're back at last, and I see you've found the fugitive! - sounded an unpleasant and mocking voice behind them.

The children flinched and turned sharply round to the man. Behind them stood a man in a black cloak, covering him completely, only the brown eyes filled with mirth could be seen. On his back was a grey staff with a dark brown ball on the end. This man was Nori Sorenn or Nori "Ruthless", the second strongest in the Dark Dawn guild, a B-rank mage, as well as the deputy head of the guild and his most trusted confidant.

He got his nickname for a reason, because his favourite thing to do was to torture people he had caught, and especially to use his favourite spell "Rotten Swamp", which created a trap and the trapped person would not be able to get out, he would only have to wait for his death by drowning in the swamp.

- Y-yes, Nori-sama, we managed to catch the bastard," Rick replied nervously, bowing deeply to the cloaked man.

- Hey, hey, me, what's so scary, stop being so nervous and shaking.

"You should at least keep your bloodlust in check, it's pouring out of you and it's only logical that they're afraid of you!" - Eros thought, frowning slightly.

- W-what are you Nori-sama, you're a B-rank mage, we can't be disrespectful to your person! - In a voice full of 'respect' the guy said.

"Hey! So much falseness in my voice, I've never heard in my life!"

- Oh, you embarrassed kids, so I'll talk to the foreman today to be nicer to you.

"GONE!" - exclaimed the titan in shock and applauded Rick's acting skills.

- Thank you!

- Well, let's go, Master is in a good mood today," Nori said with a slight laugh.

- Something good happened? - Rick asked in surprise, following the mage and beckoning the children to follow him.

- Yeah, we attacked one of the caravans today and hit the jackpot!

- Wow! Awesome! - The mage laughed proudly in response, patting the boy on the head.

"AAH! HOW CAN ONE BE SO NAIVE TO FLATTERY! IT'S DEFINITELY A DARK MAGE!? CUNNING, DEVIOUS, ETC.?!?"

- Hear, what's up with that red-haired guy, he's kinda weird.... - Nori asked thoughtfully.

- Ah, he's just terrified of the master's future punishment, see how he's trembling? - Rick pointed to Eros's twitching eye and the twitching edges of his lips, as well as the look of disappointment in the dark mages.

- Hmm... I think you're right, the master is terrible in anger," and so the last shard of faith in the dark mages fell.

- Yes, yes... - the boy nodded.

- Well, let's go, the master has already waited for you....

When they passed through the doors, they found themselves in a hall that looked like a restaurant. There were dozens of tables with two to three people sitting around them, chatting and drinking merrily. In another part of the guild, there was a fight between two mages, and the crowd around them was placing bets on who would win. At the end of the hall was a bar, and sitting on the bar was a middle-aged man with short grey hair down to his shoulders, bright yellow eyes, and a gangly looking face with a few scars. He was at least 180cm tall, with a rather imposing build, and a dagger decorated with red rubies hung from his belt. He wore a loose dark outfit of trousers and shirt, as well as a pair of boots.

- Hey, Nori! Come here! - he shouted, calling the mage over to him.

- YES! - The mage answered excitedly and ran towards him, followed by the children.

As he ran up, he dropped to one knee.

- Master!

- What's up with the dogs? - with a grin asked the man, - And enough of this bullshit.

- Yes," he stroked his neck in embarrassment, "I managed to throw them off and even wounded two of them and killed one," Nori said proudly.

- Oooh, well done, escaping from five A-rang mages and ten B-rang mages and killing one....

- You're overpraising me master, they were pathetic weaklings, they fell into the trap so easily....

- Heh, you're so modest! - the master laughed and looked behind the mage's back, -And the kids came back with a present, -he smirked and looked at Eros, -I thought you had already escaped, I was even going to send a team to catch you....

- How can we escape...

- Don't bullshit me," he snorted and waved his hand, "Let the kids out.

- Yes! - one of the spectators ran to the door ten metres from the bar and opened it. Behind it were a group of children of 7-11 years old, they looked fearfully at everyone, huddled together. On some of the older kids, you could see small brightly coloured bruises on exposed parts of their bodies.

- MASTER! YOU PROMISED NOT TO TOUCH THEM FOR FIVE DAYS! - shouted Rick angrily, hitting the table.

- YOU'RE AFRAID YOU'VE LOST YOUR CHANGE?! YOU'RE TALKING TO THE MASTER!

- YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH OF LIFE!?

- I'm sorry master. - clenching his fist and biting his lower lip until it bled, he lowered his head.

- Everyone can make mistakes, - in a voice full of compassion, the master said and a grey magic circle appeared on his hand....

- Rejection.

Before he could realise anything, Rick was simply thrown into the wall.

- BUT WATCH YOUR MOUTH! If you do that again, I'll-- - He didn't go on, but it was obvious what was coming.

- RICK! - excitedly exclaimed the children, throwing Eros off, they ran up to him.

Rick slid down from the wall and leaned on his palms to his feet, waving to Lily and the kids not to worry, he went over to the children who were locked up. It was hard to imagine the willpower of this boy.... After all, the blow was not weak, in the place where he was thrown away you could see a trace resembling a human figure, and the walls in the guild were stone.

The master only looked at the whole picture with disgust. When he was about to say something else, the man froze and a herd of goosebumps ran down his back. He felt a strong killing intent and turned round sharply....

***

Carl, that's the name of the guild master. He started his "career" back when he was ten, the first time he killed. That time he barely survived, because after the murder, after an hour they found him and beat him to a pulp thinking he was dead and threw his body on the rubbish dump.

The one he killed was a relative of some big shot, and the fact that he was quickly found was not surprising, because the mages specialising in the search are not so few.

Having managed to survive, he made a promise to himself that one day he would take revenge on everyone, and never forgive offences. Many times Carl was on the verge of life and death, but he survived and grew stronger until he was finally able to use magic.

After he became a wizard, his business took a turn for the better. With magic, he could attract and repel objects as well as living people, but even this ability had limitations. The first, which he found, was the maximum mass of the object that Carl could attract, only twice his weight, the second disadvantage, he could repel objects that were only in his field of vision, as well as attract. But these disadvantages the mage could compensate for the excellent level of mastery of the dagger and only thanks to all this, he was able to get his A-rank. Only a few of his opponents survived, because his dagger was always covered with poison. For this, he received his nickname "Poison Fang".

Thanks to his experience, he could sense even the most hidden intentions of a man, and the fact that this boy Rick, more than anything in life wants to kill him with his own hands, Carl also knew, but he pretended not to be aware of it. After all, what fun it would be to fool him and if this boy ever attacked him and tried to kill him, what fun it would be to torture him....

But he still didn't see anyone, just the surprised faces of the co-guildmates.

"It's probably just me... He looked at Eros, who was lying quietly on the floor, looking at him fearfully, "That look is mmm.... Full of terror, my favourite" - smirking in front of Carl a magic circle appeared and instantly Eros' body was thrown into the wall. Facing it his face twisted in pain. Falling to the ground, he started coughing up blood.

"What a b*tch!" - Eros thought with hatred as he looked at Carl, "If I had my former strength, you would have been torn into dozens of pieces by now!"

- Don't think I've forgotten about you little thing! - And don't look at me like that, you better behave yourself and maybe I'll kill you quickly, - the man smirked and threw the titan's light body into the wall again and the next moment he pulled him back again.... And again and again...

The children who saw it from the outside were only horrified and only the four who had brought him to the guild felt a deep sense of guilt, but they could do nothing but silently watch....
