Chapter 79: Chief Security Officer (IV)
Ethan discovered that Samuel had been hiding from the chief security officer recently.
He knew about Samuel and the chief security officer. Although he didn’t tell him, he could smell the extra scent on the Omega. However, one day Samuel came back with red eyes. He began to use every means possible to avoid the chief security officer, even pretending to be ill.
Ethan was a little worried, but he was chased away by Samuel as though he was swatting a fly. However, he thought it was probably a lover’s quarrel, so he didn’t care.
At the same time, Typhoeus seemed to be acting abnormally. He was anxious all day long, and sometimes he didn’t respond when Ethan talked to him. One night after Ethan got up to go to the toilet, he seemed to see Typhoeus walking back from the end of the corridor. He even noticed that he was slightly panicking.
Ethan asked him what he was doing and how he could go out when there was a curfew in place, but Typhoeus just faltered and said that he couldn’t sleep and had walked around. Then, he hurried into his bedroom.
Ethan felt like something was about to happen, but he was unsure why he felt that way.
In the morning, Ethan got up earlier than the others and washed up in the bathroom. Samuel was still sleeping under the quilt with his head covered. His entire appearance expressed, “Lao Tzu refuses to get up.” Ethan sighed. The man was backed by the chief security officer, so he didn’t have to worry about the consequences of being absent.
He went to the canteen to fill his stomach in the morning as usual, but before he went in, he saw a man half leaning by the wall next to the canteen, wearing a stiff guard’s suit. His sharp gaze was looking towards him.
Wasn’t this the chief security officer?
Schneider stretched out his left hand and hooked his finger at him. Ethan looked left and right and saw that no one noticed him, so he trotted over.
Without saying another word, he took out some small test tubes from the pocket of his trousers and put them in his hand. “This is three months of inhibitors and Alpha camouflaging inhibitors.”
Ethan coughed, a little embarrassed. “Well, you and Samuel…”
Schneider’s cold eyes carried a hint of threat, so Ethan didn’t dare to finish his statement. However, after he thought about it, he had to ask, “Well…… Have you felt sick recently?”
Perhaps he thought his question was strange, but Schneider frowned slightly. After all, given how close they were, it wasn’t appropriate for him to ask such questions. However, in the end, he said, “I’m fine.”
Ethan let out an oh and raised the things in his hand, saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll give it to him.”
Schneider nodded and suddenly said, “Tell him that he shouldn’t volunteer the next time he has a mission. His score is high enough, so if it goes on like this, I don’t know what kind of task he will be assigned to.” With that, he left without waiting for Ethan to ask further questions.
Ethan noticed that there were more guards present, and there were even some people recording it. Ethan thought that these videos could not have spread outside the Forbidden City, right?
However, more disturbing things happened after the meeting. At that time, he noticed that after Chen Zeng listened to something his believers had said, he hurried to a fork in the sewer. Ethan was now very familiar with the pipeline system, so he quietly went around and approached him from another direction. He carefully poked his head out and saw Chen Zeng talking to another tall guard, but his voice was too low for him to hear clearly.
The guard was Vasilev.
Ethan felt that he might have seen something he shouldn’t have seen and crept away. As soon as he got back to his bedroom, he threw the medicine on Samuel’s bed and said, “You’d better perk up. A problem might arise soon!”
Samuel was cleaning his boots. He looked at Ethan’s serious face with an inexplicable expression and asked, “What’s the matter? Did you eat shit?”
Ethan simply said, “I saw Chen Zeng talking to Gray Fur.”
Samuel was stunned for a while and then sneered, “They’re merely talking. What’s so strange about it? Maybe the scammer is preaching to that pervert.”
“It’s not that simple.” Ethan paced around the room. “You should warn Schneider to be careful of Vasilev. Everyone can see that he’s been eyeing the position of the chief security officer.”
Samuel seemed to think that Ethan was getting suspicious for no reason again and said in a coaxing tone, “Okay, okay, I’ll tell him when I go to work in the guard hall tomorrow.”
In fact, Samuel also felt that he was acting a little too cowardly hiding from Schneider these past two days, but he had lost face in front of that man that night. He didn’t know what kind of expression he should use to face a person who had seen through himself.
He couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to meet Schneider outside the Forbidden City?
However, he was now done being an ostrich, and he would better meet Schneider tomorrow. Samuel didn’t know that he was too late.
The next day was the monthly meeting between the Forbidden City’s police and the Forbidden City Council. Basically, the one in charge of the two areas, Schneider and the directors of the east and west areas, reported to the upper management about the situation and the problems to be solved in the Forbidden City monthly. At the same time, they listened to the council’s arrangement of some tasks that might need to be completed by the nonhumans for the current month. By the time Samuel arrived, the regular meeting had already begun. The whole third floor was quiet, and there was no one around.
Therefore, Samuel took a vacuum cleaner from the hallway and brought it to clean the floor. He looked at Schneider’s desk and saw some new information on nonhumans floating on top of it, and he flipped through it in passing.
Then, he saw Cavin’s document with a red circle drawn on the column with his moral value.
Cavin’s moral value was almost as high as Samuel’s. The two men had entered the Forbidden City at the same time and had always been competitors.
Samuel frowned, unsure of what the red circle meant.
However, at this time, there was a noise outside the door. Samuel quickly exited from behind the table and leaned against the door to listen.
Many guards rushed through the corridor in a hurry and ran in the direction of the conference room. Did something happen?
Thinking about how Schneider was also in the conference room, Samuel pushed the door open and looked out. The conference room was on the other side of the corridor, so one could see the situation from here. Sure enough, a small group of guards opened the door and went in with electronic handcuffs and batons. There seemed to be someone shouting something in the meeting room, but he couldn’t hear it clearly.
After a while, the door opened again. The guards who had rushed in just now pushed a man out.
Samuel’s eyes widened for a moment. This was because the man who stumbled out with his hands handcuffed was none other than Schneider.
What happened?
Samuel didn’t think. He immediately opened the door and rushed out. However, before he took a few steps, a guard aimed at him with a gun and warned, “Don’t move!”
At the same time, Samuel smelled a strong musky scent coming from the chief security officer’s body.
How could……
How was that possible?!
Samuel stood frozen in place as though he was struck by a thunderbolt. Schneider’s face was flushed, and his breathing was heavy. It appeared that he was experiencing his estrus!
The other council members in the meeting room walked out one after another, staring at Schneider with expressions of shock or disgust. One of them covered his nose with a handkerchief and yelled, “What are you waiting for? Take him away!”
Schneider looked up at him with a hazy look. His lips moved, but he was dragged away before he could say anything.
Samuel had no idea how it all happened. Schneider’s Omega organs were not fully developed, and the number of times he would go into estrus was very low. Before the accident, Schneider did not even need to use inhibitors. So how could it happen right in the middle of the regular meeting and in front of all the members of the Forbidden City Council……
He suddenly thought of something, looked up, and saw a man slowly stepping out from behind the crowd. He slightly raised the low brim of his hat, looking at Samuel with his vulture-like cold eyes under his gray hair, before stretching out a thin finger and saying, “Catch this nonhuman.”
The rest of the guards did not dare to question his order and immediately raised their guns at him. Samuel stared at Vasilev as though he wanted to skin him alive. The latter just grinned and then walked slowly to his side after he had been cuffed with electronic handcuffs. Vasilev whispered in his ear.
“It’s time for a physical examination, isn’t it?”
Ethan saw that Samuel never came back, and he was not sure if he was staying out with Schneider again. However, when he heard some nonhumans talking in the bathroom about how someone had seen the chief security officer being handcuffed and led out of the guard hall, he grew flustered.
He rushed down the stairs and wanted to go out to look for Samuel, but before he could leave the gate, he saw a line of robot police officers outside. The dangerous flashing red lights were all aimed at him, and an emotionless, mechanical voice warned, “The curfew has begun. Please don’t leave your bedroom.”
Today’s curfew began three hours earlier than before. But, judging from the situation, it was not a curfew but someone imposing martial law.
Ethan took a few steps back and held the edge of the door with his hand.
He didn’t expect that……Vasiliev would act so soon!
However, why didn’t Samuel come back too?
