As they pushed forward, the specters began to close in. The air grew colder, the shadows deeper. Horyu could feel their hunger, their desire to consume the life force that he and his companions carried.

"We're almost there," the Phantom Leader called out, his voice a beacon of hope in the darkness. "Just a little further."

But the specters were relentless. They swarmed around the group, their forms barely visible but their presence undeniable. Horyu's grip on Kurenai tightened, his eyes scanning for any sign of the sanctuary.

"Master, you cannot use Jutsu. Your Chakra is especially strong with vitality. Please, I beg of you. Don't use any Chakra or we all die." The Phantom urged. Horyu gritted his teeth, moved forward. He was already weak, and now Brigade was telling him he couldn't use Jutsu.

Suddenly, Shisui stumbled, falling to his knees. Horyu turned, his heart sinking as he saw the exhaustion etched into Shisui's face.

"Go," Shisui gasped, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll hold them off."

Horyu's eyes widened. "No, we stick together."

Shisui shook his head, a weak smile on his lips. "You need to get Kurenai to safety. I'll buy you time."

"Go," Shisui repeated, his voice stronger this time. "That's an order."

Horyu hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Thank you," he said, his voice thick with emotion.

"This is my chance to redeem myself," Shisui managed a faint smile. "Make it count."

With a final nod, Horyu turned and continued forward, carrying Kurenai. The phantoms formed a protective barrier around them as they moved, but the sounds of Shisui's struggle echoed in Horyu's ears, a haunting reminder of the sacrifice being made.

Shisui stood, drawing his sword with a shaky hand. He faced the oncoming specters, his Sharingan flaring to life. "Come on, you bastards," he growled, his voice filled with defiance. "Let's see what you've got."

The specters surged forward, their forms twisting and writhing in the darkness. Shisui met them head-on, his sword flashing as he struck out. He fought with every ounce of strength he had left, his movements fueled by sheer willpower.

Each strike drained him further, but he held his ground, determined to buy Horyu and Kurenai as much time as possible. The specters were relentless, their attacks brutal and unyielding. Shisui's vision blurred, his body screaming in pain, but he didn't falter.

As the battle raged on, Shisui felt his strength waning. He knew he couldn't hold out much longer, but he refused to give in. With a final, desperate surge of energy, he unleashed a powerful jutsu, sending a wave of energy crashing into the specters.

The blast bought him a moment of respite, but it was fleeting. The specters regrouped, their numbers overwhelming. Shisui took a deep breath, his vision darkening. He had done his part. It was up to Horyu now.

As the specters closed in, Shisui allowed himself a small smile. He had fought well. He had given his friends a chance. And that was enough.

With a final, defiant cry, Shisui fell, his body succumbing to the darkness. The specters swarmed over him, their malevolent energy consuming him. But even as his vision faded, Shisui's thoughts were of his friends, his sacrifice a final act of loyalty and love.

Far ahead, Horyu felt a sudden, wrenching pain in his chest. He knew what it meant. Shisui was gone. The realization hit him like a physical blow, but he didn't stop. He couldn't stop. He had to keep moving, to honor Shisui's sacrifice.

"Rest in peace, Shisui," Horyu whispered, his voice filled with grief and determination. "I'll make sure your sacrifice wasn't in vain."

Horyu felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his eyes, intensifying with each passing second. He gritted his teeth, trying to focus as blood trickled down his cheeks. The Sharingan's familiar swirl began to morph, shifting into a new, intricate gear-like pattern. This transformation was unlike anything he had experienced before, and the searing pain threatened to overwhelm him.

His vision blurred momentarily, but as the new form of his Sharingan settled, everything became startlingly clear. The world around him was sharper, more vivid. He could see the flow of chakra with unprecedented clarity, the intricate patterns of energy that connected everything in the Spectral Realm.

The pain subsided slightly, replaced by a throbbing ache. Horyu wiped the blood from his face, feeling the new power coursing through his veins. This was the Mangekyo Sharingan, a higher level of his bloodline's power, but it came with a price.

Horyu's mind raced as he adjusted to his enhanced vision. He scanned the dark, twisted landscape of the Spectral Realm, his new eyes revealing hidden pathways and dangers. He could see the spectral energies converging around him, drawn to his life force like moths to a flame.

His fingers moved, forming seals in the air. Fuins began to glow around him and those who followed. The seals were a temporary solution, shielding their life force from the prying grasp of the Spectral Realm.

"Master, the seal should hold for now," the Phantom Leader whispered, his voice echoing through the eerie silence. Impressed by Horyu's ability.

After a grueling day of travel, Horyu and his group finally reached the sanctuary. This place was unlike anything Horyu had ever seen. Nestled within the dark, twisted landscape of the Spectral Realm, the sanctuary was a natural formation of luminescent crystals and ethereal flora. The glowing crystals cast a soothing light, creating an almost serene atmosphere that starkly contrasted the oppressive darkness outside. The air within the sanctuary was different—calmer, purer. It was as if the very essence of peace permeated the place, repelling the malevolent specters.

The sanctuary itself was a vast, open space with towering crystal formations that acted like natural barriers. These barriers emitted a soft hum, a frequency that seemed to deter the specters from entering. The ground was covered in a soft, moss-like substance that cushioned their steps, and small streams of luminescent water flowed gently, adding to the tranquil ambiance.

As they approached the edge of the sanctuary, the Phantom Brigade halted. Their leader, a ghostly figure with a commanding presence, bowed slightly. "Master, we cannot enter. This sanctuary repels our kind."

Horyu nodded, understanding the necessity. "Disperse," he commanded. "I will call you when I am ready."

The spectral warriors faded into the shadows, leaving Horyu with Kurenai. Horyu gently laid Kurenai down on the soft ground, her breathing steady but shallow.

Sitting for the first time since he arrived in this cursed realm, Horyu felt the full toll of recent events hit him. His eyes still ached, the fresh sting of blood trickling down his cheeks kept him painfully aware. "Shisui is dead," he thought, clenching his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. The weight of Tobirama’s betrayal gnawed at him. Shisui was gone, a sacrifice that shouldn’t have been necessary. The question loomed over him like a dark cloud—could he and Kurenai even survive this hell?

Taking out the third Bloodline Purifying Pill, Horyu examined it for a moment. He could feel the potent energy emanating from it, knowing this was crucial for his next step. He put it into his mouth and closed his eyes, focusing on his Sharingan. The familiar, burning sensation spread through his veins, a testament to the pill's power working within him.

"I need to increase it to 80%, Eternal Mangekyo," he muttered to himself, his voice steady despite the discomfort. He could feel the Sharingan's power growing, the edges of his vision sharpening as the enhancement took effect.

As the pill's energy coursed through him, Horyu's mind was laser-focused on the task. "Skip the Uchiha genes," he commanded internally. He had used a similar pill once before for overall purification; this time, he needed to concentrate its effects solely on his Sharingan.

He felt the power surge, his Sharingan evolving further. The percentage had climbed to 72% after awakening the Mangekyo. He needed to push it to 80%.
