GIVE YOU MY HEART [BL]

Chapter 59: I'M HIM

-Haruka POV-

"What do you mean by he's here?" I asked him, confused.

"Like I told you. He's right here. I am L. Schatz." He said that again. This time, I'm not confused anymore, but I was literally shocked.

"But, how come you are him?" I asked. Still didn't believe what I just heard.

"What do you mean? I'm him because that's me. You can see all the paintings here. That's all by me." He said that with a smile.

"Demo (but), why did you hide it? The fact that you're L. Schatz? And why L. Schatz?" I asked him one question after another.

"For the first question, I know you could guess even if I don't tell you, right? Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. My father wouldn't allow it. That's why I kept it hidden. Why L. Schatz, you asked? Haruka, do you know what Schatz means?" He looks at me with a smile still on his lips. The meaning?

"Well, in German it can be treasure, love, darling, sweetheart, and the synonyms." I said all the possible meanings.

"Right. Sweetheart. You see, my late mother is French-German. She used to call me schatz (sweetheart) when I was little. When I was thinking what name I should put on my painting without my father knowing it was me, that nickname popped up in my head. So, that's why it's L. Schatz. Well, L stands for Levi, of course." He explains that to me with a smile, but I don't know why. I could sense the sadness behind that smile.

"Your late mother was a fashion designer, I see you got that talent from her. Is the reason for you to become an artist because of her?" I don't know what comes to me, so I asked him that. He then looks at me, still with his smile.

"You're right. It might be because of my mother. But someone's words a long time ago also drove me to be an artist. Want to hear a story? I don't really talk about myself, though." The Levi Ackerman in front of me is just like a different person, making me want to hear anything that came out of his mouth.

"You can tell me." I replied shortly.

"I'm glad to hear that from you. I'll tell you." With that, he started to tell me.

//FLASHBACK//

I was born into a very rich family, known worldwide. I was sent to go to school at the age of 4. My father sent me to the best kindergarten school in France. I was told to learn about business, economics, politics, and languages. I also need to attend violin and piano classes at night. I don't even have any free time to enjoy my childhood life. And when I have time, even for a while, I will draw with my mother. I excelled in everything I did. Everyone said I was the luckiest person, but that's not what I think. My father even considered sending me to the States at the age of 5, but my mother opposed that. That's right. My mother has always saved me.

Until 24 years ago. I was 6 years old at that time. It was on the weekend. I was drawing in the living room with my mom, waiting for my tutor to arrive.

"Mom, is it okay for you to be here with me? What about Louis?" I asked, thinking about my younger brother. He's 2 years old, but I don't really get the time to see him because I was busy studying.

"It's okay, schatz (sweetheart). Louis is sleeping right now, so that's why I'm here. Later, go see your little brother, okay?" My mother said to me with a smile.

"Umm. But mom, are you feeling alright? You look a bit pale." I said, touching my mother's cheek.

"I'm fine. It's just a headache. You don't have to worry." My mother said, touching my hand that's on her cheek.

"You should then rest." Lie down here." I patted the couch, and she chuckled.

"Oh Levi, my schatz. You're so kind. Don't worry, I'm fine. Now, what are you painting? Show me." She looks at my drawing book.

"It's our mansion's garden! But I changed the flower to lilies." I said that with an excited voice.

"Schön (beautiful). You're really talented, Levi." She said that with a smile while patting my head.

"I got it from you!" I said that out loud, and she's clearly surprised.

"Right. You're my son after all." She hugged me. I love it. I love being with my mother.

"Levi. What are you doing here? You should get ready for today's lesson. Kuchel, are you letting him draw again? Why aren't you with Louis?" My father suddenly spoke. I didn't notice him coming. He's getting frustrated at mom right now.

"It's not mom's fault, and Louis is sleeping right now. Just let mom rest, will you?" I spoke, and my father clearly looked surprised.

"How dare you speak like that towards me? You're just like your mother. Stubborn!" My father raised his voice, trying to slap me, but then my mother stopped him.

"Are you crazy? He's still a child!" This time my mother raised her voice.

"That's your fault for letting him do what he wants. That's your fault he's getting scolded. Now, you get ready for your lesson, Levi." My father tried to drag me with him.

"Karl! Be gentle, he's still a ki…" Suddenly my mother collapsed.

"Mom! Mom, what's wrong? Open your eyes. Aunt Lorent, call the ambulance!" I yelled with my tears streaming down my cheeks, and not long after that, the ambulance arrived.

-Auclair Hospital-

I was in the waiting room, waiting for my mom. Still crying. My grandfather and Aunt Lorent are here with me. Of course, my father is not here. He doesn't care.

"Levi, stop crying. Your mother will be fine." My grandfather spoke softly to me. Aside from my mother, my grandfather is the only one who treats me nicely.

"Chairman." The doctor who was caring for my mother came to the waiting room.

"Doctor! How's my mother?" I grabbed the doctor's lab coat while crying.

"Your mother's fine for now. Don't worry. I would like to talk to your grandfather alone for a while." He said it with a smile. What did he mean for now?

"Mrs. Lorent, please look after Levi." My grandfather said and left with the doctor. Why do they need to talk in private? Something's not right.

"Aunt Lorent, I'm thirsty. Can you buy me a drink?" I asked Aunt Lorent politely.

"I'll buy for you, young master. Please wait here." She said that and left. I'm sorry, Aunt Lorent, but I need to hear this. Then, I went to the doctor's room. Luckily, the door's not closed tightly.

"Chairman, please listen to me calmly. I don't know since when, but Mrs. Ackerman is now having stage 4 brain cancer." I heard the doctor speak. Brain cancer?

"What? But Kuchel never said anything, and she's not showing the cancer symptoms." My grandfather spoke in disbelief.

"I'm afraid the cancer is just spreading without showing any symptoms until the very last stage. From the MRI scan, it shows the cancer cell invading almost all her brain. Since she's not getting any treatment until now, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to save her." The doctor said it shocked me. Tears streaming down my cheek again.

"How long? How long does she have?" My grandfather inquired. I could tell he's trying to hold back his tears.

"Two months at most, but I'm afraid it might be shorter." The doctor replied. Two months? Am I only able to spend time with my mother two months more?

"I understand. Doctor Auclair, please don't tell Levi about this. He might be a smart kid, but he's still a child." My grandfather said, making my tears stream even harder. I made my way back to the waiting room. Aunt Lorent is already there.

"Young master, where have you been? Why are you crying?" Aunt Lorent asked in panic.

"I'm just worried about my mom." I lied. I know everything, and yet I lied.

"Your mother is going to be alright, young master." She tried to comfort me. And then my grandfather came.

"Grandfather, how's mom?" Even though I knew the truth, I asked.

"Your mother's fine. She just needs some rest. So let her rest, and we'll come visit again tomorrow, shall we?" My grandfather said it with a smile. A smile that hid all his tears. I nodded, and we went home for that day.

//SKIP//

It's been more than one month since my mother was admitted to the hospital. Here I am, with my mother.

"Mom, are you getting better?" Despite knowing the answer, I asked. I wanted her to get better to play with me again. To draw with me again.

"I'm getting better, Levi, my schatz. Don't worry." She said that with a smile. Her face is pale, but she always gave me the brightest smile.

"Are you drawing again today?" She asked.

"Mm. I'll show it to you later." I said that happily.

"I can't wait to see that. Levi, if you love drawing, just keep drawing, okay? I'm here with you. Your grandfather will also support you." She said that with a smile. Again. But you're going to leave me soon.

"Then you better get..."

KNOCK! KNOCK!

The door swung open, showing the woman that always comes to visit mom every week.

"Ah, Levi-chan is also here. Hello, Levi-chan. I brought my son with me today, but he said he wanted to buy ice cream first. You should meet him later, okay?" That woman said with a bright smile.

"Mm. I'll leave you two to talk." With that, I left the room.

I went to the park. There's a gazebo there, so I sat there to continue drawing.

"Wahh, kirei (beautiful)." Suddenly, a voice speaking behind me made me startled. A boy was smiling at me while holding the popsicle. He looks younger than me. Around 3-4 years old.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Ark. I'm sorry. I mean, it's beautiful. Your drawing. Who is it?" The boy spoke. Surprisingly, he said it fluently.

"She's my mom." I said that shortly before continuing drawing.

"She's really beautiful. You look a lot like her. Do you enjoy drawing? My mother is an artist too, but I don't know a lot about art though. I bet you're going to be a famous artist in the future." He said that with a bright smile, which made my heart skip a beat.

"Kid, who are you here with?" I asked him, uninterested.

"I'm here with my mother and the maid. I just ran away from the maid hehe. What about you, nii-chan? Why are you here?" He asked me back.

"I'm here to see my mother. She's not well. But, what's with the nii-chan thing?" I asked him. This kid isn't from here.

"Ah, it means big brother. It's the Japanese language, I'm from Japan, hehe." He chuckled. This kid is weird.

"Botchan (young master), anta wo sagashite ita (I was looking for you)." A middle-aged woman came while breathing heavily.

"Ara, Yoshida oba-san (aunt) is here. I guess I have to go now. Nii-chan, don't worry, your mother's going to be alright. My grandfather is the best doctor here. I'm sure he'll save your mother. And one more thing, keep drawing and make sure you show that to your mother. You'll be a great artist, nii-chan! Here, this one for you." He said that and gave me the popsicle. Then he left.

And two days later, my mom left me forever. Not long after that, my father sent me to the States to study there. Even so, I never stop drawing. My mother's words and that kid's words keep me going.

//END OF FLASHBACK//

-Haruka POV-

"It's boring, isn't it? But I never thought words from a kid younger than me could inspire me haha." He said that with a chuckle, but I'm here still shocked.

"So, it was you."
