GIVE YOU MY HEART [BL]

Chapter 60: GROCERY SHOPPING

-Haruka POV-

"It's boring, isn't it? But I never thought words from a kid younger than me could inspire me haha." He said that with a chuckle, but I'm here still shocked. This flashback. I know exactly who he's talking about. I know. How could I forget about that? No wonder I felt like I'd seen him somewhere before.

"So, it was you." I said that out of the blue.

"Huh? What is it, Haruka?" He asked, making me realise I said that out loud.

"The kid. The kid you're talking about. It was me." I said that, and he clearly looked shocked now.

"Huh?" That's all he said.

"I said I'm the kid that you met 24 years ago. No wonder you look familiar." I repeated.

"No, I mean, I heard you correctly. You said you were the bright kid I met 24 years ago. I'm just trying to digest." He said. Ah, I see what's his point right now. He couldn't believe that the bright kid was me, the cold me right now.

"People change. So do I." I said that bluntly, and he looked at me.

"Right. I am too. But, what made you change so much?" He asked.

"If what you're thinking right now might be the reason, you're right. I know you would guess it right, so I'm not going to answer you." I said that. I know what he's thinking. He might be thinking William was the reason why I changed, and that's true. I used to be a bright kid. I used to speak to anyone comfortably. But after William cheated on me, everything changed.

"I'll take that as a yes, then. Well, it doesn't matter whether you change or not. You are you, and you're still you. Still, the world really is small, right? No wonder I was attracted to you the moment I saw you again. And I did be a great artist, just like you said. Heh." He said that with a chuckle. Looking at him right now, he looks happier now than when he was a kid.

"Are you still drawing now?" I asked. I wanted to know.

"Well, not really. 5 years ago I stopped drawing, but then I started again two years ago after I met you." He said that with a smile.

"Ahem. Then, who knows that you're L. Schatz?" I asked him for more.

"No one. But I guess your mother knew." Levi's sudden remarks surprised me.

"My mother? But how?" I asked him.

"You see, it turns out your mother is my mom's best friend. To think I forgot about it when she always came to visit my mom 24 years ago. Your mother bought my painting for 5 billion dollars 12 years ago, making it the most expensive painting in the world. Looking back, I know what the reason is. It's because she knew that the person in the painting was my mother. Your mother herself is a talented artist. After that, there were a lot of people demanding my painting and even willing to pay a high price. I'm still studying at Harvard at that time, so I have a lot of time to draw and paint. I already have a lot of money at the age of 20. One thing my father didn't know is I can survive without his money, and I have more than enough money to have my own company." He said that confidently. So, this is Levi Ackerman. No wonder people called him The Great Levi Ackerman then.

"Aren't you proud of having a great boss like me?" He said that with his confident face, head held high.

"Even The Great Levi Ackerman needed an ordinary secretary to help him." I said that, uninterested.

"You're an extraordinary person, Haruka. Even The Great Levi Ackerman was speechless on how brilliant you are when you're a kid." Levi said it playfully.

"Whatever. Well, I'm glad that you became a talented artist even though no one knows about it. I'm sure your mother would be happy too."

-Levi POV-

"Whatever. Well, I'm glad that you became a talented artist even though no one knows about it. I'm sure your mother would be happy too." Haruka said that with a bright smile. The same smile he gave me 24 years ago. Right, after all, Haruka is still Haruka.

"Ahem. Well, could you bring this painting to my place next weekend? I'm moving to a new house, so it would be better for you to bring it later. Well, you can also help me with the unpacking." His words surprised me. Moving to a new place. I don't even get to go to his current place yet.

"Huh? Why are you moving suddenly?" I asked him, clearly looking surprised.

"You see, my grandfather gave me a new house as a birthday present, saying that he and his friend bought it for me. A penthouse at a certain hotel." Haruka replied. Even his grandfather's friend gave him a birthday present. A house at it. Crazy.

"Where's the new place? Have you done packing? I can help you with that." I said that excitedly.

"I'll give you the location later. There's not much to pack, so that's okay." He said that with his poker face. Guess I'm not that close yet.

"Alright then." I said that with a low voice.

"Well then, it's already afternoon. Aren't you going to have lunch?" He asked, trying to change the topic, I guess. Ah, talking about lunch, I remembered something.

"Right. It's already lunch time. Today, I'm going to cook for you." I said that confidently, and he just looked at me uninterested.

"I'd rather eat outside, then." He said that half-heartedly. You're hurting my pride, Haruka.

"You shouldn't say that to me. I even watched cooking videos all night just for you. Don't worry, I'm going to cook for you today." I'm a bit embarrassed to say that, but that's true. I stayed up all night just for that.

"Well, if you insist. What are you going to cook then?" He asked me.

"Well, I did watch a lot, and I can't really decide on what to cook. Let's see what we have first, shall we?"

-5 minutes later-

We are now in the kitchen, and both of us are speechless right now. I'm looking at the empty fridge. How can I forget about this? The housekeeper didn't come this week because I said she didn't need to. So there's not really much in the fridge since she didn't come and cook for me. I totally forgot. What should I do now? In front of Haruka out of all people.

"So, what are you gonna cook then?" Haruka suddenly spoke.

"You said you watch a lot of videos, but look. Wow, there's only an empty fridge here, so what are we supposed to cook?" Haruka kept talking. Or should I say, he's trying to make fun of me right now.

"Wait. Let me tell the housekeeper to buy the ingredients for me." I said, taking out my phone.

"No need. We wouldn't want to disturb her. Let's just go together." He said that, making me confused.

"Go where?" I asked in confusion.

"Grocery shopping, of course. Since you insist on cooking." He said that with an annoyed face.

"Really? We're going grocery shopping together?" I asked him for confirmation.

"I can just go alone." He said that while glaring at me.

"Alright, I'm not going to ask again. Wait for me. I'm going to change." I said that, then hurried to my room to change.

-Monoprix Store-

Here we are. Grocery shopping. This is my first time, but do I really need to wear something like this here? Haruka told me to wear a cap and face mask, while he's also wearing one right now.

"You're Levi Ackerman. Everyone knows you. Not to mention, it's the weekend, so there will be a lot of people here. So we shouldn't let others see us." That's what Haruka said before we got out of the car. It's you who is more famous than me, you know?

Well, that's fine with me. As long as I'm with Haruka. We're on a grocery shopping date right now. I'm going to count every second we spent together on a date, haha.

"So, what are we going to buy? You said you're going to cook, right? What's on the menu and the ingredients?" Haruka's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. Huh? Ingredients? Crap. I forgot about that.

"You see, I did watch a lot of them, but I didn't remember the ingredients, haha." I said that with a fake laugh. Embarrassing. You're embarrassing yourself, Levi.

"Huh? Ah, you're telling me you wasted your time to watch all those videos just to brag about it to me? How are you going to cook when you don't even know the ingredients? You're once the best student in Harvard but can't even memorise that?" He said that in disbelief. But don't you think that's a bit harsh, Haru-chan? I have never cooked once in my life, what do you expect?

"Well, I'm sorry about that." I said that with a flat tone. Not happy anymore.

"What? Are you mad at me? Well, I don't care. So, what is it that you want to cook?" He asked me, and I looked at him.

"Well, cod fish, seared duck breast, mac & cheese, chocolate mousse, and trifle." I answered.

"Don't you think that's a bit too much for lunch? Are you going to make them all?" He asked.

"Well, I couldn't choose, so I just named what I remembered." I told him the truth. I watch too many videos, but at the end, that's all I can remember.

"Well, let's not add the mac & cheese. But why codfish? Do you like them? I thought people who love seafood like you would prefer salmon or tuna more." He said that. Well, that's true. I would prefer that, actually.

"Cod fish has a milder flavour, so it should be okay for you to eat them too." I replied.

"Ah, that's why. Then what fish do you prefer?" He suddenly asked.

"Well, you already mentioned it." I didn't say it directly, but of course he would know that already.

"Let's go with salmon then." His sudden remarks surprised me.

"Salmon might have a stronger flavor, but I'm afraid it won't be to your liking." Let's just…"

"It's alright. We should go with what you like too. You just need to find milder recipes. You said you wanted to enjoy eating seafood with me, right?" He cut me off, but I found it hard to believe him to say that. Is he trying to comfort me? But wait, something is not right here.

"Wait. Then I need to watch another video again later." I look at him, and I can see a faint smile on his lips. Comforting me? Hah. He's playing around with me.

"Right. Let's go, Chef Levi. We need to buy all the ingredients first." He laughed and walked first before me while pushing the trolley. Seriously, I didn't know he can be childish sometimes despite his cold expression.

-45 minutes later-

We are now waiting in line for the self-checkout. I didn't expect we ended up buying a lot. This is my first time going grocery shopping, so it's a bit strange.

"Let's split the bill later." Haruka said it out of nowhere.

"Huh? What do you mean?" I stare at him, confused.

"Well, you're basically buying more things that I like, so that's why." He replied.

"I'm buying everything for my house, so why should we split the bill? You're my guest after all." I said to him with an annoyed face.

"But still, we..." Someone cut him off. Well, thank you for that.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but it's your turn." The staff suddenly spoke.

"Ah, Sorry. Thank you." I said that to the staff, and she just smiled. I look at the machine.

"How do I do this?" I whispered in Haruka's ear. I forgot this is my first time.

"This is why you should come grocery shopping frequently." He chuckled, and I know he's doing that on purpose.

"Just tell me. I'm trying to learn. So next time when we go grocery shopping, you won't laugh at me."
