Happy Evil Heartbreaker [Modern LitRPG]

Chapter 17: The Unknown Sense of Anticipation

Although Xanthia had prepared herself for the possibility of strange items emerging from the blind boxes—likely tools designed to cause negative emotions in others to gather "pain points"—she hadn't expected something this bizarre!

The first item revealed from the two blind boxes was a "summoned beast" or "pet" type of creature. Its appearance was that of a tiny flying insect, so small that it was nearly invisible to the naked eye.

It was like a tiny speck of dust; Xanthia had to use a magnifying glass to observe it.

However, since it had become her "summoned beast," it could be controlled with ease, thanks to the system's production, ensuring absolute loyalty.

Unlike in reality, where making someone your summoned beast would require consideration of loyalty—like trying to keep someone willingly as a sycophant by occasionally tossing them a bone—this system beast needed no such maintenance.

Xanthia opened its attribute panel and found its stats to be quite weak, incapable of harming anyone.

So the question arose: how would it induce negative emotions in others to collect "pain points"?

She soon noticed its skill set and discovered it had three peculiar abilities. The first skill, "Fart Inducer," would cause the target to fart on the spot when bitten by the insect!

Xanthia's expression turned peculiar upon seeing this prank-like skill.

The skill was indeed low on physical harm but high on humiliation.

Imagine in confined public spaces, like elevators, causing someone to fart on the spot—anyone with a bit of pride would likely feel embarrassed, thereby generating "pain points."

The other two skills were even more outrageous, consistent with the "Fart Inducer." One was "Urine Inducer," and the last was even more extreme—turning the bitten person into a "spray warrior"!

In other words, Xanthia, with her "fart, urine, and diarrhea" insect summoned beast, could prank others by making them fart, urinate, or have diarrhea on the spot...

Upon realizing the insect's skill effects, Xanthia couldn't help but laugh.

As she had seen various bizarre, grotesque, and ugly summoned beasts in the system store, she hadn't expected to draw such a prankster right away.

If one thought carefully about the insect's functionality, it was quite practical despite being merely a blue-quality summoned beast.

Firstly, the insect, resembling dust, was nearly invisible, making it highly covert. Its flight speed was incredibly fast, and its bite caused no pain. Yet, once its skills were activated, the effects were immediate. This meant Xanthia could prank others without anyone realizing she was behind it.

Secondly, if Xanthia encountered personal safety issues, like a mugger or a kidnapper, she could silently use the insect to turn the perpetrator into a "spray warrior," who would be so shocked and preoccupied with their own predicament that she could escape.

Indeed, this little insect, though intended for pranks, could somewhat protect her safety. Considering it was just a cheap item from the system's blind box, what more could she ask for?

Xanthia, being practical at heart, wouldn't dismiss the insect simply because it was of blue quality. She was satisfied with having such a "starter" summoned beast.

The second blind box revealed a single-use consumable item of purple quality, which intrigued Xanthia.

However, upon seeing its name, "A Painfully Intense Simulated Rebirth Memory," she became puzzled. What kind of prank item was this?

Judging by its name, it seemed like an item to be used on others to gather "pain points."

Heavens, she actually wanted items to enhance herself! The previous insect barely counted, but this one-time item, though of higher quality, didn't seem as practical.

After carefully reading the item's description, she finally understood its purpose.

It allowed the user to give someone else a simulated "rebirth memory." This memory, though seemingly realistic, was entirely fabricated, portraying the recipient as a complete failure and simulating the worst possible future scenarios.

Upon waking from this memory, the person would likely believe they had been reborn. If they followed the memory's information to alter their future, they would probably hit a wall, since it was all false. Realizing they couldn't change anything would surely make them even more miserable...

Xanthia felt that this item was incredibly ruthless— how much "pain value" could it extract?

She compared this item to the genjutsu "Tsukuyomi" from "Naruto," except it was a one-time use. Essentially, it pulled the target into a "Tsukuyomi space," forcing them to experience intense pain. After awakening, some might grow from the experience, while others might succumb to despair.

This item needed to be used cautiously. It wasn’t entirely a negative tool—

A false rebirth memory might cause someone to have a great epiphany, mistakenly thinking they had truly been reborn, thus seizing the present with newfound determination.

After opening the three blind boxes, Xanthia was generally satisfied with the results. At least it wasn't a complete failure where all she got were white-quality "stamina potions" or "energy potions."

She had to admit that opening blind boxes, similar to playing gacha games, indeed had an addictive thrill, with an anticipation for the unknown.

However, Xanthia had strong self-control. Just as she had played gacha games for free in her past life, she found opening blind boxes fun and was tempted by the quirky items and summoned beasts in the system store. Yet, this didn’t change her current strategy, which was to focus on accumulating happiness points. As for pain points, she would collect them as they came.

With this mindset, Xanthia went to sleep happily, steadily accumulating happiness points.

As she continued converting happiness points into "constitution" attribute points, she felt her body growing healthier. She believed a strong body was fundamental. With it, she could engage in more thrilling extreme sports to accumulate even more happiness points, creating a positive feedback loop.

In fact, she had been a competitive sports enthusiast in her past life, always fantasizing about wearing the national flag and winning glory for her country, a thought that brought her immense joy.

Unfortunately, she lacked the talent in her past life. But in this life, with the system's help, it was different. As long as she kept getting stronger, anything was possible!
