Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Long Time No See
Raloth's body shattered into dust, dissolving into the air bit by bit. The sorcerers watched in terror as the fine particles dissipated, helpless in the face of such overwhelming power.
Loki's expression was grim. Power, after all, is often relative, but what they had just witnessed transcended mere strength. It wasn't just the sheer force of the attack that was horrifying—it was the precision. To kill Raloth without a single ounce of energy spilling over was unimaginable. From his punch to his restraint, every fraction of movement had been perfectly controlled. This level of mastery was what made the man before them truly terrifying.
Suddenly, Sudry's frail body bent sharply as he collapsed to his knees, trembling with fear and reverence. "Y-Your Highness, the destruction of the Tree of Life had nothing to do with me. I implore you to see the truth and spare this old servant's life."
Agareth's expression remained indifferent. He quietly walked up to Sudry, who cowered on the ground, his entire body shaking uncontrollably. Agareth's golden eyes flickered with a trace of cold disdain.
"This matter no longer concerns you," he said coolly. "When you return, explain yourself to Kel'Thuzad."
Without another word, Agareth grabbed the back of Sudry's robe like he was lifting a small chick. His hand swept through the air, slicing the void open to reveal a deep, bottomless rift. With a casual flick, he tossed Sudry into the darkness. The frail figure gradually disappeared into the void.
Turning back, Agareth's flawless, cold face exuded an oppressive aura. His tall figure stood with an air of absolute dominance as his piercing gaze fell upon the group of sorcerers, his silence louder than words.
Harry nervously tugged at his soaked robes, signaling to Loki with pleading eyes to summon Augustus. Faced with a being like Agareth, any resistance was futile—a mere ant against a giant, a worm against a dragon. The disparity was absolute, leaving no room for hope.
"You're not of this plane," Agareth finally said after a long silence, his tone calm and devoid of doubt.
The sorcerers felt a sliver of relief. As long as he didn't strike them down outright, perhaps there was still a slim chance.
"I'm curious," Agareth continued, "who sent you here?" He paused briefly, then added, "You now have one chance. Summon this individual. You have one minute."
His golden eyes fixed on Loki and Thor with a calm yet commanding gaze.
The sorcerers turned their eyes toward Loki and Thor, pinning their hopes on the two of them.
Loki sighed softly. As proud as he was, even he had to admit that the being before them was far beyond anything he and Thor could contend with. If he were alone, he would rather die than bow to coercion. But now, with the lives of so many on his shoulders, swallowing this humiliation seemed inevitable.
He drew his wand, chanting a sequence of intricate notes. A blue thread of energy extended into the void, vanishing into the infinite distance.
Agareth observed Loki's actions with interest, a faint smile curling his lips. "Ah, the Michaelian Line Theorem. Impressive. So you share a connection with the Central Magical Plane. Does that mean you're natives of it? Though, I must say, you don't quite look the part."
"This just makes me even more curious about your benefactor," he added with a smile, his beautiful yet icy face radiating an almost blinding light.
"Hey, he looks pretty handsome when he smiles," Pavarti whispered, nudging Lavender beside her.
Lavender sighed in exasperation. "Really? At a time like this, you're ogling the enemy's looks? There's no saving you." She hesitated, then added under her breath, "Although... I think he might look better when he's not smiling..." She froze, blinking. What am I even thinking?
Cho, meanwhile, stared intently at the blue line vanishing into the void, her eyes bright with complex emotions. He's bound to be disappointed, she thought. To him, are we all just insignificant insects? If we can't stand on equal footing, how will he ever truly notice us?
Suddenly, Loki stiffened, his amber eyes lighting up with excitement. The oppressive feeling of having his life in someone else's hands was unbearable. No matter what, once they returned, he vowed to work harder so that one day he could stand alongside his teacher as an equal.
Thor exhaled softly, sharing Loki's sentiment. From his perspective, it was humiliating to have to constantly trouble Augustus to clean up their messes. In the future, he promised himself, he would become strong enough to carry some of the burden instead of relying entirely on his teacher.
"Agareth."
A distant voice echoed from the void, and the sorcerers felt their hearts lift. Their mentor had arrived.
Under the starlit sky, the blue thread suddenly shaped itself into a doorway of light. Augustus stepped through, his golden hair drifting gently in the breeze. His youthful face and silver eyes, deep and pure as still water, seemed to radiate a calm brilliance.
"It's been a while, Agareth," Augustus said, his voice steady and serene as he walked out from the void.
"How's life been on Dandelion Isle?" he asked, stepping onto the ground. Standing before Agareth, the two figures seemed like ancient celestial bodies under the stars, eternal and unyielding, their presence lighting up the heavens.
"You know me?" Agareth's divine golden eyes narrowed slightly in surprise. He had not expected someone so young to so casually speak of his dwelling. Without having encountered him personally, no one should know the location of his citadel.
"We've crossed paths once or twice," Augustus replied with a faint smile, stepping closer until only ten meters separated them.
"That's impossible," Agareth said, shaking his head. "I'd remember meeting someone of your caliber—young, yet already at the legendary stage. It's illogical for me to forget someone like you."
Augustus simply smiled gently.
