Harry Potter The Unseen Heroine

Chapter 44: A Day of Discovery

Saturday arrived and the option to sleep in, for the first time in my life, was wonderful. After slowly waking up I entered a mostly empty common room. Some fifth years were grouped up in the library nook reading, while some third years sat around the armchairs talking, but most of the room was completely empty.

I made my way down the the great hall and found Padma, Mandy, and Morag eating breakfast. I noticed neither Harry nor Ron were nowhere to be seen.

"Morning." Padma told me as I sat down.

"Morning." I replied as I made myself a plate.

"So, what your plans today?" Mandy asked me.

"Later tonight I'm going to get all my homework done, this afternoon I'm going to meet with Professor Flitwick. Before then, I have no idea. What about you three?"

"Me and Mandy are going to walk around the grounds." Morag answered.

"More like, she's going to get as close to the Forbidden Forest as possible to look for wildlife, while I'm going to be her lookout." Mandy replied while rolling her eyes.

"Oh come on Mandy, don't tell me your scared?" Morag teased.

"I'm not scared. I just don't find looking out for Professors while you poke around the edge of a forest thrilling."

"It's the most thrilling." Morag said smirking.

"You're not seriously going into the forest, are you?" Padma asked frowning.

"I'm not stupid. That forest is way to dangerous to actually go inside. I'll just be skimming around the edges."

"Just...don't follow anything inside." Padma warned.

"What about you, what are your plans?" I asked Padma.

"I'm going to spend some time with Parvati, she wants to introduce me to one of her year mates she's hit it off with." Padma answered.

"Who's that?" I asked.

"Lavender Brown."

"Well, I hope you hit it off with her." I replied.

"Hopefully."

"So where's everybody else?" I asked curiously.

"Anthony and Lisa are in the library."

"Why?" I asked confused.

"They were in a hurry. Anthony said he'd had to work on something, and Lisa said she was going to help."

"Work on something? But he always finishes his homework immediately?"

"I know. We asked him what he had to do, but all he said was something about the library." Mandy said.

"Weird..."I replied, confused what Anthony and Lisa could be up to.

"Hmm...what about Michael and Terry."

"Stayed up past Four AM." Padma said disapprovingly

"Of everything that's the least surprising." I said and we all laughed.

We finished breakfast and I decided I'd try and find Lisa and Anthony to the library, when I arrived I froze in shock. The room was massive, hundreds of shelves made almost a maze of books. It was like dreams I had as a child, and it was real.

I looked through the mazes of shelves and bookcases until I finally found the pair huddled around a book in a corner nook of the library.

"Imagine, the effect the tear's could have?" Anthony was whispering excitedly.

"When I promised to help you...I didn't know it would mean possible explosions." Lisa replied.

I walked up to the pair and tapped on there shoulders.

"Ah."

"Who..."

The pair turned and tried to hide the book they'd been reading behind there back. When I saw there faces, it looked like they'd been caught red handed...

"Hi..." I said.

"Oh, Sarah. Just you." Anthony replied then sighed.

"You shouldn't sneak up on someone like that." Lisa said, as she frantically looked around.

"What are you two doing?" I asked.

"Oh, where..."

Lisa slapped his arm, causing him to stop.

"...reading." Lisa replied, clearly lying.

"Reading what?"

"Uh, just a book on..." Lisa began, but before she could finish I pushed past the pair and looked at the book.

"A Guide to the Chimaera." I read then looked at Anthony. "You're really obsessed with this huh?" I said as I looked directly at Anthony.

"Okay...you caught us. I'm planning a experiment involving Chimaera tears." Anthony said excitedly then dove back into the book. I turned to Lisa.

"And you..."

"I feel like I owe him for helping me on those packets..." She admitted rubbing her arm.

"I didn't ask for help." Anthony said not even looking up from the book.

"I know. But I feel like I have to, you know."

"I guess." I replied then turned back to Anthony.

"All we are doing is taking a Chimaera's tear, and mixing it with a Bezoar egg." Anthony explained.

"Bezoar Egg's cure most poisons, Chimaera tear's heal bruises. What if we put them together?" Anthony asked me excitedly.

"Chimaera tears heal bruises?" I asked.

"Yeah, I was surprised to." Lisa answered.
