Chapter 103: The Training Begins!
Alex nodded and walked into the room. He looked around to see that he was inside a large house. He walked slowly, looking around him. "This looks like a rich person's house." He spoke. Imani walked inside behind Alex and smiled, "You could say that It is the interior of a costly mansion… Well, it's just a recreation of how it would look but that's not the main point here. The main point is, You'll have to deal with the bots, while not raising alarm… I did say something about reapers but this is to help you deal with creatures worst than the reapers itself…" Imani looked at Alex.
Alex looked back at Imani and asked, "there are other creatures worse than these reapers?" He was confused by her words. He didn't believe it at all." Alex waited for an answer from Imani.
Hearing Alex's question, Imani smiled. She nodded and walked to Alex, "Tell me, Alex, are you sure that you haven't seen creatures worst than Reapers? The vile creatures who can use their powers for good but a few decide to use it for the worse… The creatures who do worse things that reapers couldn't have even tried to re create… Can you not guess those types of creatures?" She asked in a curious fashion.
'I've heard his stories… He is a victim as well. But when asked about it, that thought doesn't even come to his mind… I don't know if that's sad or amazing… Whatever it is, I'd have to say that Alex will need to accept that these creatures can be the best you've ever met or the absolute worst…' Imani was very curious about Alex's reaction.
Alex looked serious, He looked down and nodded, "I see what you're talking about… Looking at it that way, I guess they really are worse than reapers… Humans are the biggest monsters that I've seen." He thought back to everything that he had gone through.
Imani nodded and smiled, "Well, Not everyone is bad… You can look at the people that you've met till now and already confirm for yourself that people can be amazing as well… That's why you're here, to learn how to save the innocents from the ones who mean harm…" Imani then ran forward and into the house, "But that's going too deep into this topic. Some are good, some are bad, Most are in the middle. All you need to do is save the goods from the bads… That's why you're here, I'm the good so save me from the baddies." She laughed as she disappeared from Alex's vision.
Alex looked confused by Imani's action but he quickly understood, "She's fast…" He said to himself as he slowly walked up the stairs. "But she is right… There are many people in the middle… I guess I just think so much about heroes that I've just come under the impression that people are either good or bad but people are mostly various shades of grey." Alex sighed.
He then slapped himself and took a deep breath, 'I'm not here to think too much. I wasn't told much except that I'm here to save a hostage from people… I need to silent so that they don't deal with the hostage before I save her. The hostage here is Imani and she ran upwards so most likely the enemies will be upstairs with her being captured by them.' Alex thought as he silently walked down a hallway after climbing the stairs.
He looked around and saw that the hallway leads to two other hallways, both going opposite directions. Alex sighed, 'I wish I had an ability to detect or read a place like a map.' He took a deep breath 'At least having an ability like that would help me in cases where I need to act like a true hero…'
Alex suddenly paused. His body froze.
Imani, who was sitting in the middle of the room looked at a screen in her hands with a confused gaze, 'He seemed to have gotten confused by the hallways but that wouldn't have led him to just freeze on the spot… Did it? If so, Does a simple guessing game make him Freeze?' Imani shook her head, 'No, I don't think that's the case… Why did he suddenly just stop like that?' She was very curious
Alex looked at the ground, his fists tightly closed. A small weird, almost creepy smile formed on his face. 'I'm playing the hero role here… I get to be a hero, and save someone in a situation filled with bad guys who are trying to stop me… This is in a way fulfilling my dreams as a kid, It's exactly what I've been wanting. To be a hero, To be someone who was looked up to for doing good. For saving lives.'
Alex took a deep breath and looked up. His face turned serious, "I'll need to de my best here… My dreams are being made right now, I should do the absolute best. Nothing wrong should be done, no mistakes at all!" His body seemed to be filled with energy.
Imani, who was sitting on the ground with a confused expression suddenly lit up, "To think he was just hyping himself up… I guess I jumped too soon and underestimated Alex." She then smiled, "That might have been one hell of a creepy smile but It doesn't seem evil… Well, I guess all I need to do is watch as you try to save me. I wish you the best of Luck Alex, I have high hopes for you." She looked around her. A small room filled with bots. They looked lifeless but as soon as Imani tapped on the screen in her hands, They seemed to come to life.
"Boys, your commands have been given, Give it your best to made Alex have a hard time. Train him well!" She looked excited to see what Alex would do next.
Alex walked to the left hallway, 'I hope this is correct.' Alex thought when he deiced which hallway to walk in. He looked around him, looking at the various decorations and paintings. However, an unsettling feeling filled Alex as he seemed to notice a small pattern.
"There aren't any doors here." Alex spoke as he carefully walked down the hallway, "This hallway seems to not be so long but I've been waking for a while but It doesn't look like I've even gotten that close. How big is this thing really?" Alex seemed to be a little bit confused.
He stopped and looked back, Alex was very confused by this. "It looks like I didn't move an inch at all… These paintings…" Alex's focus turned to the painting and the decorations, "They all were generic and looked similar to each other so I assumed they were some form of the set but looking at it now, It's seems like I've been only looking at a few which is just repeating itself… This entire thing isn't a hallway, but more like a treadmill… I've been walking on the spot for some time…" Alex felt shocked.
He walked back to the start of the hallway and turned to the opposite hallway. "I thought this would be a normal thing, No tricks but she seems to have these tricks laid around so It would take more time for me…" Alex looked slightly annoyed now.
Imani looked at Alex's expression and laughed, "I guess it really would be annoying but I did tell you that I would train you to think more… The brain before combat is also very important, You need to stay calm Alex, or else those nerves might ruin you when the real battle starts… Which is getting closer and closer… Now that you're looking at the right way, All I can say once again is good luck, Alex." Imani smiled.
Alex looked down the hallway and slowly walked to it. He looked around as he walked and noticed that this path didn't feel weird at all. Alex smiled and thought, 'I guess she didn't want me to go down the wrong path so soon. I need to calm down again. Imani kept trying to drill that a calm mind before the battle is the most important thing so I need to not let this all get to my head before I even start fighting!'
