Chapter 2: The Mall's Bounty
Noah stood before the shimmering screen, his heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. He had a system, a cheat, a portal to a vast universe of possibilities. The Mall. He was eager to see what it held, but a cautious part of him warned against jumping in too quickly.
He took a deep breath, summoning his strategic mind. He needed to understand this system, its limitations, its possibilities.
He focused on the word "Mall," and the screen rippled, revealing a sprawling landscape of virtual storefronts. There were aisles overflowing with items from different worlds, each storefront a portal to a unique universe.
He saw gleaming swords, impossibly sharp and powerful, crafted in ancient blacksmiths' forges. He saw futuristic weaponry, sleek and deadly, forged in the workshops of advanced civilizations. He saw scrolls of ancient magic, their inscriptions glowing with ethereal energy.
He even saw a familiar sight: the infamous "Shinigami's Death Note" from the Death Note universe. It sat nestled among other items, a dark and sinister presence in this otherwise vibrant marketplace.
He swiped his hand across the screen, and the Mall's interface responded. It was a virtual shopping experience, a seamless blend of technology and magic. He could browse categories, read descriptions, and even examine items in detail. The system was intuitive, easy to use.
He clicked on a random item, a katana from the Bleach universe. The screen shifted, presenting detailed information about the blade's origins, its history, its materials, and, most importantly, its price.
Price: 100,000 Jen
Noah's breath hitched. He knew these items were rare and powerful, but 100,000 Jen? That was a staggering sum, enough to buy a decent house in his previous world. He had no idea how he was going to earn that kind of money in a world where the currency was a little more... unconventional.
He swiped through the Mall, marveling at the array of items, each one a tempting offer. He saw incredible feats of engineering, advanced weapons, and artifacts of ancient magic. He saw the power of these worlds condensed into tangible objects.
But every item came with a price, a hefty price tag that reminded him of his current reality. He had no money.
He wasn't homeless, he wasn't starving, but he wasn't rich either. He was a newcomer to this world, a stranger on an island, with only the clothes on his back and the promise of a future that held both danger and opportunity.
He sighed, his gaze lingering on the gleaming katana, a symbol of the power he could potentially possess. But he knew he couldn't buy it. Not yet.
He closed the Mall interface, the screen flickering out of existence. He had a system, a treasure trove of possibilities, but he had to earn the right to access it. He needed Jen.
He looked out the window at the vast ocean, the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. He was in a new world, a dangerous world, a world of hunters and nen and the promise of adventure. And he was just getting started.
