Chapter 3: A Home Away From Home

Noah shut down the Mall's interface, a sense of urgency settling over him. He had to get his bearings, understand his situation, and figure out what his next move should be. He was a strategist, a planner, and he needed a plan.

Suddenly, a knock on the door startled him. He jumped slightly, his hand instinctively reaching for the small, worn wooden sword he had managed to find tucked under his bed.

He cautiously opened the door and found himself face-to-face with an old man, his eyes crinkled with amusement and concern.

"Ah, you're awake!" the old man exclaimed, his voice a warm rumble. "I was starting to get worried."

Noah blinked, taking in the man's appearance. He was tall and slender, with a shock of white hair and a kind face that spoke of years of wisdom and experience.

"Are you alright?" the old man asked, his voice laced with genuine concern. "You were... unconscious when I found you."

Noah nodded, a wave of relief washing over him. He was in good hands. "I... I think so." His voice was a little hoarse, his throat dry from his unconsciousness.

"You were just lying on the beach, unconscious," the old man said, his gaze lingering on Noah. "I found you near the shore. I thought you were dead at first, but then I saw you were breathing, so I brought you back to my place. I'm glad you're alright."

Noah felt a surge of gratitude. He had no idea what he would have done if he'd woken up alone, lost and confused, in this unfamiliar world. He was grateful for the old man's kindness.

"Thank you," Noah said, his voice sincere. "I don't know what I would have done without you."

"No need to thank me," the old man said, waving his hand dismissively. "It's the least I could do. I've got a soft spot for young fellas who wash up on my beach. Now, tell me, where are you from?"

Noah hesitated. How could he explain his situation, how he was suddenly in a different world, with no memory of how he got here?

"I... I don't remember," he said, his voice wavering slightly. "I don't remember much at all."

The old man nodded understandingly. "Well, that's alright," he said. "That happens sometimes. You're probably just tired. You had a rough time getting here, I imagine." He smiled, his eyes twinkling. "But I'm glad you're here now."

Noah took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing mind. He needed to find out where he was, what year it was, and how he could adapt to this new reality.

"Could you tell me where I am?" Noah asked cautiously, "And what year is it?"

The old man patted Noah's shoulder reassuringly. "This is Whale Island," he said. "You're safe here. And it's the year 1996."

A wave of shock washed over Noah. Whale Island. Gon Freecs' home, the place where the story of Hunter x Hunter started.

He quickly gathered his thoughts. It was 1996, and the Hunter Exam started in 1999. He had three years to prepare.

He looked back at the old man, a sense of purpose settling over him. He might be a stranger in a strange world, but he was a strategist, a planner, and he was going to make the most of this opportunity.

"Thank you," he said, a newfound determination in his voice. "I'll try to remember what happened. And thank you for saving my life."

The old man smiled. "No problem, kid. You're safe here now. And remember, Whale Island is a pretty special place. You'll meet some pretty interesting people here."

Noah nodded, already starting to plan his next move. He had a system, a cheat, and a world full of possibilities. And he was just getting started.
