Husband, Spend Some Gold Coins

Chapter 17 - I

In fact, Xie Qi didn’t quite understand Yao Wenzhu’s thought process at this time.

Labeling her as foolish and naive, but she still did an investigation on him. Labeling her as clever. Why did she allow him to be with Qin Yizhi so effortlessly? Without much thought or consideration?

After all, shouldn’t affluent individuals pay considerable attention to their partner’s family background?

But Yao Wenzhu didn’t seem to care about this at all.

What was this?

Xie Qi felt that he couldn’t comprehend Yao Wenzhu.

But never mind; better accepted it as long as he got the money.

Yao Wenzhu took him to the hospital. While in the elevator, noticing no one around, she reached out, grabbed the hem of Xie Qi’s clothes, and said, “Hurry up and change out of these clothes. Go wear what I bought for you. You have a good figure and height; it will definitely look good on you.”

Xie Qi softly responded, “Hmm.”

When the elevator arrived, Yao Wenzhu suddenly remembered something and smiled at Xie Qi, “Qiqi, isn’t your mother also in this hospital? Can I go see her?”

Xie Qi’s expression did not change, but his fingers suddenly clenched. He balled his fist and replied, “…My mother hasn’t recovered yet, so it’s probably inconvenient.”

Yao Wenzhu said, “Alright, then I’ll visit your mother when she gets better. And your stepfather too.”

Xie Qi responded with a soft “Hmm” and added, “He hasn’t woken up yet. The doctor said it will take a few more days.”

Yao Wenzhu continued, “Once they’re both well, I’ll visit again. About the money I gave you, you haven’t used it for yourself yet.”

Xie Qi felt uneasy discussing this topic with her.

In reality, Xie Qi didn’t want Jiang Sining to know about someone like Yao Wenzhu. He contemplated running away in the future, as it seemed the only option. If Qin Yizhi woke up and discovered that Yao Wenzhu had found a wife for him while he was incapacitated, it could lead to severe consequences.

Xie Qi observed Qin Yizhi’s stern face and sensed that this person might be a bit cold and indifferent. Such individuals were generally emotionally stable and rarely lost their temper, but when they did, it could be quite intimidating.

Despite Yao Wenzhu being his biological mother, Xie Qi couldn’t be sure about her intentions. Even though she wouldn’t harm him, he feared the possibility of her making him crossed boundaries while the man was still in a vegetative state.

Even so, Yao Wenzhu still expressed the desire to visit his parents. Typically, couples didn’t introduce each other to their parents until discussions about marriage arise. If things didn’t work out, it was easier to end the relationship. And if both parents didn’t know each other’s, a swift return to one’s parents’ house would make finding someone challenging.

Although Xie Qi felt that Yao Wenzhu was so wealthy and finding out where he lived wouldn’t be a problem, the mention of her desire to visit his parents made Xie Qi felt anxious.

.

Xie Qi lowered his eyes and responded to Yao Wenzhu’s words, saying, “…I don’t have anything to spend money on.”

Yao Wenzhu then said, “Is that so? Do you like the game console I bought for you? It’s something boys usually enjoy, right?”

Xie Qi replied, “…I don’t play games; I don’t know how to play.”

Yao Wenzhu expressed a little regret, saying, “Well, Yizhi likes to play. If he wakes up, you two can play together. How about that?”

Xie Qi responded with silence.

Xie Qi tentatively suggested, “Then let me learn how to play?”

“Really? That’s great!” Yao Wenzhu exclaimed happily, “I really can’t play these games. I’ve been sad for a long time that I can’t play with Yizhi. If you learn how to play, you can engage with him!” She also advised Xie Qi, “When Yizhi wakes up, spend more time with him. Although he wasn’t fond of me initially, since he likes you and I support your relationship, his opinion of me should change.”

Her final words were filled with a pitiful tone, causing her bright eyes to dim.

Feeling a little moved, Xie Qi spoke in a low voice, “If there’s a gap between a mother and son, you two can sit down and have a chat. After all, both of you are relatives with blood thicker than water.”

Yao Wenzhu chuckled, saying, “Hey, it’s no use. But we’re here with you now. You’re my daughter-in-law. Mom loves you as her own and won’t let Yizhi bully you in the future!”

Xie Qi simply didn’t reply, “…”

He was touched. He genuinely believed that Yao Wenzhu was remarkable, despite her affluent background, she remained approachable.

Why didn’t Qin Yizhi like her? How could there be a child in this world who doesn’t like his mother? As a boy, he might not comprehend the pain of childbirth, but from general knowledge, he understood the immense suffering mothers endured during the process.

While most mothers naturally loved their children, as evidenced by Yao Wenzhu, he wondered why some children didn’t share a strong bond with their mothers. Could Qin Yizhi be naturally cold-hearted person?

He didn’t understand, lacking many knowledge about Qin Yizhi and the reasons behind his behavior.

Yao Wenzhu went to visit Qin Yizhi. Xie Qi made an excuse to stay outside. On his way back, he bought new eye drops and used them. Once he returned, he explained to Yao Wenzhu that his eyes were bothering him, and he hadn’t had a chance to use the drops.

Then he went out of the room again, Xie Qi finally felt at ease to take out the eye drops. Leaning against the wall, he opened his eyelids and applied a few drops. The cool sensation brought relief, refreshing him.

His golden amber eyes seemed to have larger pupils and less melanin, making him more light-sensitive than others. Even a slightly bright light, deemed normal by others, felt too dazzling and hurting his eyes. Summer, with its consistently bright and dazzling sunlight, was a season he disliked.

After moistening her eyes, he was about to go see Teacher Hou. Yao Wenzhu stuck her head out and said to Xie Qi, “Qiqi, come here and talk to Yizhi.” Xie Qi responded with surprise.

His heart tightened because yesterday he was so close to Qin Yizhi, but the man didn’t respond at all. If he hadn’t responded today, would Yao Wenzhu still treat him like this?
