Chapter 24: The Avocado
Vexalia entered the temple to find Groose arguing with the old woman, "What do you mean I'm not the one supposed to save Zelda!?" He questioned angrily, "Exactly what it sounds like, you're not the one." The old woman said in a very I'm so done with this tone, "If I'm not the one that will save her then who is it!?" Groose questioned further.
"Okay Groose, you can't hijack an entire adventure just because you feel like it." Vexalia pointed out as she approached, feeling like she was wasting time with this already, "Wha- Wait! You're the one who will save Zelda!?" Groose exclaimed in realization and a bit of refusal, "Yes and if you excuse me." Vexalia said before pulling out Zeldas lyre.
The old woman perked up at the sight of the instrument, "Ahh... You got the Lyre of the Goddess, your journey should be about halfway done at this point." She said giving a vague estimation, "Half!?" Vexalia repeated in shock, but got ignored as the old woman continued "First things first, you need to learn how to actually play it." The old woman began.
With some instructions, Vexalia stood in the middle of a pedestal, while Groose stood back to see what would even happen, "Now, follow the rhythm of my hair." The old woman instructed as she let her pendulum like hair ondulate left and right, to which Vexalia followed it slowly along the lyre, picking up speed as the hair did.
Slowly, but surely, light rose up from the pedestal until Vexalia stopped looking at the old woman for the rhythm and began doing it naturally and when she finished, a large dark pillar rose up from behind her, "Here it is." The old woman said right as a earthquake started, "I should have expected this! Priming the Door of Time must have caused the seal to waver!" She realized as she got up and whent to the spiral path outside.
"What's going on!?" Groose questioned Vexalia in a panic, "I don't know!? This never happened!!" She responded before starting to run after the old woman to see what was up, shortly followed by Groose too, and when outside they peered to the bottom of the spiral path and saw that the spike in the center was leaking, "Didn't I fix that?" Vexalia asked the old woman in confusion, "Yes, but it's regaining power quickly." The old woman replied, prompting Vexalia to jump down the path to the center.
Stepping up to the spike to once again strike it with Skyward energy, she was pushed back as more and more dark power began flooding out of the ground, "What!?" She let out in confusion at the unexpected force and then her eyes widened as out of the ground came a vaguely avocado looking giant monster with a huge mouth filled with teeth, weird toes, and the spike stabbed in it's head, "Oh I forgot about you..." Vexalia muttered remembering the thing from her dreams.
Sealed Evil Incarnate, The Imprisoned.
"What is that thing!?" Groose yelled while taking steps back, "What caused the earthquake." The old woman replied simply, "Vexalia! You need to drive it back before it gets up here! If it does all is doomed!" The old woman instructed prompting Vexalia to try and attack the creatures skin, only to find it didn't take any damage, "Is this thing made of the stuff in the desert!?" She thought outloud before realizing that the gross looking toes actually seemed quite fleshy and vulnerable.
With swift movements, she proceeded to cut the toes off, making the monster stop for each one renedered unusable, until it fell on it's back, "Now- The spike!" She exclaimed, coming up with a plan to damage the beast, running to it's head and began using the sword to ram the spike in it's skull.
When the whole spike got stuck in it's head, The Imprisoned roared and flipped onto it's belly and turned red, "What?" Groose and Vexalia said at the same time before the thing started crawling at high speed along the path, "WHAT!!" They both yelled in a panic, with Vexalia chasing after the worming creature and Groose panicked.
"Stop you little bastard!" Vexalia demanded, making a bomb, and using the sword as a bat to get it to hit the monsters head, stopping it as it got up, and the spike came out of it's head, but by the time this plan worked, the monster was already halfway up, "This isn't good!" Groose lamented, almost pulling out his hair from fear.
As it got up, The Imprisoned regenerated its toes and slowly began walking again, "Better than no-wah!" Vexalia stopped when she saw the shockwaves that came from each of the monsters steps, "Well then!" She said as she began using Skyward Strikes to take out its toes from a distance, and when she did, she repeated the spike ramming process.
"Wait that'll make it crawl again!" Groose yelled to Vexalia making her face pale at the implication, since she's out of sulfur too, "I CAN'T STOP IT THIS TIME!!!" She screamed in a panic, frightening both Groose and the old woman, but while panicking, Groose saw a small enclove with bomb flowers.
Right as The Imprisoned began crawling, it got bombarded with two bombs, stopping it in its tracks and confusing Vexalia, but it got cleared when she saw that Groose threw them, "I'll keep it still if it does it another time!" He reassured, prompting Vexalia to repeat the damaging process once more, but this time, when the monster got up, it roared and blinked white a few times before blowing up into pieces, which gathered back in the center.
"Now Vexalia! The seal!" The old woman instructed, causing Vexalia to jump back down to the middle and strike the spike with holy power and wrote a seal herself to ram the spike back into sealing the creature into the ground, "Oh Goddess I thought I was gonna die..." Groose said, grateful he didn't.
