Chapter 3: The Wing Ceremony
Vexalia's POV.
After I 'gently' got the information out of Groose, I went to the sparring hall to ask Eagus to borrow a sword, "Hey professor, got any spare swords I can borrow?" I asked him, scratching my scar slightly due to the irritation making it itch, "What? I mean, yeah, but why do you need one?" Eagus asked.
Taking a moment to explain him the situation, all he did was facepalm, "There's a few in the backroom." He informed, pointing to a door to the side, "Thank you." I said as I went over the backroom and found the chest where the spare swords were kept.
Now having a sword, I went out of the sparring hall ot head to the cave where the geniuses somehow brought my Loftwing, "How in the world did they even manage that?" I wonder outloud, "Maybe they rode it?" Zelda suggested, having appeared beside me out of nowhere, "...Where did you come from?" I questioned.
In response Zelda just giggled, making me sigh, "Why are you like this?" I asked, "I had to come up with a method to counter all your teasing." She explained, "So that's why you don't get flustered anymore when I kiss you." I realized, "No that's because I started liking it." Zelda corrected.
"...Well I guess I'll have to try harder then." I decided with a smile, "Yeah, alright." Zelda replied unbothered, then finally we got to the entrance of the cave behind the water, "Do you want me to accompany you?" Zelda asked, "If you want to come I'm not stopping you, but I'm pretty sure that whatever is in this cave is gonna be more scared of me." I responded.
Entering the cave, Zelda decided to follow me either way, "I'm gonna get some materials to give to Gondo." She said, "So I'll be killing monsters anyway..." I say with a blank face as I stab a Keese that tried biting me, "What are you having Gondo make anyway?" I questioned, noticing how many weird materials she was getting.
"It's something for you, and if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise would it?" Zelda said sarcastically, "Fair enough, just make sure to give it to me when it's done." I noted, tossing a blue chuchu that I cut in half to her.
Having said that, we finally reached the other side of the cave, where we saw my Loftwing boarded up in a hole in the wall, "I'm gonna murder Groose..." I mutter as I walk up to the boards and rip them off, "Don't murder your fllow students..." Zelda said as I got on my Loftwing, "I will, now get on babe." I tell her, "Babe!?" Zelda exclaimed in shock, but I just rolled my eyes in response and pulled her, "Go my trusty steed!" I spurred my Loftwing, making it dive off the cliff and fly.
Zelda's POV.
As we flew up, I'm once again reminded of why Vexalia didn't practice in a minute, "SLOW DOWN!!" I screamed, holding for dear life as Vexalia made her bird fly at full speed through the narrowest passages, "Like hell I'm slowing down!" She responded, making me scream again as we flew so high up that Skyloft was barely visible, then we dove down so fast that I thought we would splat, but Vexalia made her Loftwind brake right before we hit ground, slowing us down.
"We got here!" I heard Vexalia, prompting me to look up and see that we landed by the Goddess Statue, "Oh we are..." I mumbled out, shackingly getting off the Loftwing, even stumbling a bit.
Third Person's POV.
A Few Minutes Later.
Owlan stood by the starting line with Gaepora, having explained the rules and ready to give the go, "All right, gentlemen, line up. At my command, the competition will begin! Go!" He exclaimed, prompting the racers to dive down and whistle for their Loftwings.
Vexalia's Loftwing came flying fast, catching her and riding straight for the Loftwing carrying the statue, "Mimic it's movements buddy!" She instructed her bird, and the strategy allowed it to pick up speed and get closer to the statue, "Almost there!" She thought, before an egg came flying in front of her.
Turning around, she saw Groose's cronies tossing eggs at her, "Owlan will have your asses for this!" Vexalia reminded, "We're trying to get Groose to win!" Cawlin responded as he threw another egg, which I made my Loftwing weave out of the way, "If that's how we're playing then match this!" Vexalia challenged as she got up on the back of her bird and ran up to it's beak, where it flicked it's head, tossing her to the Loftwing statue, which she snatched from the one carrying it.
Vexalia's POV.
"I got it!!" I cheered, holding the statue as I was still falling, which I realized and was about to whistle, but Zelda flew beneath me and caught me instead, "Alright!" She exclaimed, hugging me.
Later On Top of The Statue.
We stood on the platform near the top of the statue and Zelda placed the Loftwing statue on a platform specifically made for it, "Now there's only one more part of the ceremmony we must do..." Zelda said, but trailed off at the hand, "Say... I have been hearing a voice calling out to me lately... Do you hear it too?" She asked, reminding me of the dream I had, "...I think it's the same..." I replied, unsure if they were related.
"...Do you think we'll be safe?" Zelda asked, "What? Come on, just because a voice in our heads tells us stuff, it doesn't mean we won't be safe." I reassured, making Zelda smile, as she handed me a cloth, "I'm sure you know what to do with this." Zelda said before pushing me off.
As I fell, I unfurled the cloth, letting me land gracefully on the platform at the feet of the statue, "I SWEAR TO THE GODDESS I WILL SLAP YOU!!!" I screamed loud enough to have Zelda hear, but it only made her laugh outloud.
