I Became a Mythical Knight King

Chapter 13: Diana’s Shock (2)

Tsuhua-

Appearing in a scattering of golden flashes was a leather-armored figure atop a large, white warhorse.

She appeared to be in her late teens to early twenties, with dark brown hair, cut a little shorter than shoulder length.

She was beautiful, but her tightly pressed lips and stern eyes gave her a very stiff appearance.

She stared down at Yoo-seong with brown eyes, blinking a few times as she looked around, before raising her right fist and tapping it against her left breast as if in understanding.

“Glory to Camelot.”

“Glory to Camelot.”

When Yoo-seong responded in kind, the woman-Diana lowered her right fist and looked away from him again.

The silence followed.

Yoo-seong, who was facing the female knight who was silently looking this way while on horseback and the white steed that was quietly looking at the bed sheets as if contemplating whether or not to bite them, let out a rather awkward cough before speaking.

“I am Cheon Yoo-seong.”

Diana nodded once at his introduction.

And then it was over.

Still staring off into the distance, Yoo-seong coughed again and asked.

“What’s your name?”

Of course, he already knew from the status window, but he asked anyway, hoping to start a conversation.

And this time it worked, as Diana opened her tightly closed lips and spoke.

“My name is Diana.”

And again, the end.

Seeing how Diana seemed to end the conversation no matter what she said, Yoo-seong thought she should just ask a lot of questions.

But then it happened.

With a small gasp, as if realizing something, Diana opened her mouth again and said.

“I’m Enika.”

What does that mean?

Did she mean that Diana was actually a pseudonym or alias and Enika was her real name?

No, it wasn’t.

‘Oh, so the warhorse’s name is Enika.’

As if to confirm that this was indeed the case, Yoo-seong reflexively turned toward the stallion, who nodded slightly as if to say yes.

And Yoo-seong thought to himself.

‘Not bad.’

The communication is a bit stiff, but at least she’s answering what he’s asked.

After all, it was more important to be able to fight than to talk.

“What’s your primary weapon?”

“A spear. I also use a sword.”

A spear was strapped to Kate’s back and a sword hung from her waist.

“Do you know Kate and Vanadain?”

“I do.”

“To what extent do you know them?”

“I only know their names.”

“I see.”

I lost the energy to continue the conversation.

I got all the information I needed anyway, so I smiled again, albeit a small one.

“Then let’s go back and get some rest.”

“Glory to Camelot.”

“Glory to Camelot.”

Diana nodded in agreement, and with a flash of silver, she and her steed Enika disappeared.

‘Let’s see the status window.’

Archer Squad Leader: Vanadain

Level: 1

Weapons: Elven longbow, dagger

Chivalry: Piercing Strike (increases the penetration and power of attacks.)

Light Cavalry Squad Leader: Diana

Level: 1

Weapons: spear, longsword

Chivalry: Diana’s Shock (When you make a charge attack, you deal shockwave damage to the target and an area around it.)

“Oh, AoE.”

Doesn’t that mean that a spear charge will deal damage not only to the target, but also to nearby enemies?

‘Yeah, cavalry spear charge.’

Imagining Diana’s light cavalry spear-charging, Yoo-seong smiled wryly.

Of course, light cavalry and spear charge were a bit of a mismatch, but it would be fine if they were raised as heavy armored cavalry.

‘Vanadain’s abilities are simple, but good.’

Rene would have said, “Wow! Elves!”

But then it happened.

As Yoo-seong was about to clear the status window, a new window of light appeared before his eyes.

[Three knights have gathered under your command.]

[You have met the minimum requirements for the Knights Order.]

[Knight Order Command: ‘King’s Time’ has been acquired.]

* * *

Before long, the sun had set and night had fallen.

Rene had also changed her clothes, and instead of her black robes, she wore a white dress with a simple design.

“Heir, Uncle Hugo is awake.”

Robin stood behind Rene, holding a lantern in one hand.

Judging from their expressions, Baron Hugo Latus, Lothian’s master, was not in a bad condition.

“Baron Latus wishes to dine and converse with the heir,” said Rene.

“Robin and I have told him all that is important.”

“What’s the Baron’s reaction?”

Rene took a breath before answering Yoo-seong’s question.

“He’s taken the situation very seriously. While you were away, Sir Simone and Lord Mont had conscripted men from within the castle, and Hugo has summoned all the knights in the barony, and he’s asked all the neighboring fiefs for help, and through my family, he’ll be asking the kingdom for help as well.”

Yoo-seong was still a newcomer to this world, but from the bits and pieces of information he’d gleaned so far, he could tell that Rene’s family, the Baltois family, was no ordinary one.

‘I guess it’s a bit surprising that such a clean-cut family exists.’

A count with a vast estate.

If Robin and Edgar’s stories are anything to go by, he must have many knights under his command, so he must be very powerful.

“Reinforcements won’t be here soon enough……but it won’t be too late.”

Nodding at Robin’s hopeful, if slightly worried, words, Yoo-seong turned his head back to Rene and glared at her.

“Uh……heir?”

Rene blushed as if embarrassed by Yoo-seong’s slightly different gaze, and Yoo-seong smirked.

“Rene, hasn’t your magic gotten stronger, and your face looks a little prettier?”

“What? Uh, how? Really?”

At the combination of “How did you know?” and “Am I really prettier?”, Yoo-seong laughed again and answered only the former question.

“Because I raised you.”

“You did?”

“Oh, Rene is the king’s wizard so I can help Rene grow.”

Rene’s eyes widened at Yoo-seong’s words, and she fought to control the corners of her mouth that threatened to curl upward, while Robin looked from Yoo-seong’s face to Rene’s, then back to Yoo-seong.

“Uh, can you be more specific about what you mean?”

Robin was Rene’s childhood friend.

Rene’s reaction to the words ‘King’s Wizard’ seemed to indicate that, apart from dying of excitement, she had indeed become more powerful, so Yoo-seong’s words were true.

A wizard’s magic power is nurtured by others.

Is such a thing possible?

Robin’s serious question made Yoo-seong think for a moment.

A modern person would have understood if she just said, “There’s a game system that lets you level up,” but Robin and Rene weren’t modern people.

So Yoo-seong took a moment to collect his thoughts before he began to explain.

“Well……to put it simply, the soldiers I summon earn merit by fighting, and I can use that merit to strengthen them.”

“Uh……you mean apart from getting stronger as they gain merit?”

“Yes, apart from that. For example, you know Kate……”

“Yeah, the super pretty sister who carries the flag.”

It was Rene who answered.

“Pretty sister” seemed a little too intimate, but it was also very Rene, so Yoo-seong gave a small smile and continued.

“If I use Kate’s merit points to teach her the Kingdom’s swordsmanship, Kate will be able to use the Kingdom’s swordsmanship. If I strengthen her strength, she will become stronger, and if I strengthen her stamina, her stamina will increase.”

It’s a mysterious ability that, when explained in full, can be used to level up troops and to grant skills and stats.

‘Of course, the only thing I can actually grow is my serf troops, but Kate grows as a result.’

I made a bit of editing for the sake of clarity.

Rene and Robin were literally stunned by Yoo-seong’s explanation.

“So, I can grow at an incredible rate?”

It’s a bit of a stretch, but I can grow her abilities or learn new skills without any training, effort, or time.

Just by thinking about it, she could grow at twice-no, many times-faster than my normal rate.

“Uh, sort of.”

Yoo-seong nodded, and Robin was so stunned that she could hardly breathe, and Rene looked back at him with eyes that seemed to glow.

Yoo-seong continued to speak to the two of them.

“Normally, I could only do this to the soldiers I summon, that is, those who belong to my Chivalry, but I can do it to Rene.”

“Because I am the king’s wizard?”

“Yes, Rene is my, the king’s wizard.”

Rene’s cheeks flushed again at Yoo-seong’s words, and she fiddled with her fingers.

The king’s wizard was a title of great honor for a servant of the Goddess of the Lake.

It meant that she had been chosen by the Goddess herself to serve the Holy King.

Anyway, since he had to finish the story, Yoo-seong continued talking while looking at Robin who still had a surprised expression on her face.

“So, when I was resting earlier, I used Rene’s merit to increase her magic power.”

“Growing her magic power.”

Robin swallowed hard and took a deep breath, then grabbed Rene’s arm, which was still fidgeting with her fingers.

“Miss, are you sure your magic has gotten stronger?”

“Huh? Uh, yeah. I was worried that there was something wrong because it suddenly became stronger, but it turns out that the……heir has been nurturing it.”

Rene placed her hand over her heart, and a benevolent, relaxed smile spread across her face, much like Kate’s.

But instead of relaxing, Robin asked, her tone still urgent.

“How strong have you gotten?”

“Huh? Huh……If my original magical power was 10, it feels like it became 15?”

“What?! Young lady, you’ve become incredibly strong!”

She went from 10 to 15.

Doesn’t that mean her magic power has increased by 1.5 times in a single moment!

“That’s right, I’ve gotten incredibly strong.”

Rene had been afraid that something was really wrong with her because she had become so strong, but not anymore.

Yoo-seong was the cause.

It was only possible because Rene was the king’s wizard.

Hence the comfort.

Hence the happiness.

Who am I?

The King’s Wizard, chosen by the Goddess of the Lake.

In other words, a wizard of the Holy King.

As Rene blushed again, as if lost in her own world, Robin looked at the Yoo-seong and asked.

“Heir, can the young lady grow stronger in the future?”

“She can be stronger, and she must be. She is the king’s wizard.”

Rene, sobered by Yoo-seong’s words, clenched her fists tightly and spoke with a determined face.

“I’ll be strong, Heir, I’ll be strong enough to be an Archmage.”

“Good.”

Robin nodded as if to praise the mage for her determination, then turned back to Yoo-seong.

“Heir, why can’t I join you? I could be one of your knights.”

“Sorry. I think only Rene is special.”

“Fufufu-”

At the word special, the corners of Rene’s mouth curved into a nice arc again, and Robin bit her lip.

~About ten minutes later~

Rene and Robin were already familiar with the castle, so they didn’t need much guidance as they made their way to the room where Baron Latus was waiting.

“He’s waiting for you inside.”

When they arrived at the door, an older man, who appeared to be a butler, placed the message inside and opened the door, speaking to Rene.

A cozy bedroom and an elderly man sitting half-lying on the bed.

‘You said he’s your uncle.’

‘He doesn’t like it when I call him Grandpa.’

After exchanging a quick glance with Rene instead of a whisper, Yoo-seong turned his attention back to the front, and the old man on the bed – Baron Latus – saw him too.
