I Ran Away And The Reverse Harem Started

Chapter 42

Chapter 42 Daniel didn’t seem to notice Marie scrubbing the stairs below. He turned to face me and tried to call my name again. “Hey, Rosie..,” “Ugh!” “…….” “Ugh! My stomach! My stomach hurts!” I screamed in horror at the sound of Daniel calling my name. An unspoken law in the world of romance fantasy. The male protagonist never calls the maid by name. Even if they are well-liked and get along well with all the maids and even have maids close to them.usually to establish their credibility as master. Daniel is not a heroine like Deborah, nor is he have an easy-going personality. What would the other maids think if they found out that Daniel was calling me by my name? I screamed to drown out his voice, and then I was so shocked that I kicked the empty bucket. “Ugh.” Tang, tang, tang. The bucket rolled noisily down the stairs. “… Are you okay?” Marie asked, wide-eyed and startled, then glanced back to see who was standing behind her. Marie calmly greeted Daniel. She must have recognized him as the owner of the mansion because she had heard about him from me. I tried to smile while looking at Marie. “It-it’s okay, sorry. It was too loud. I didn’t know there was a bucket in front. I accidentally kicked it.” Haha. With a silly grin on my face, I awkwardly looked back at Daniel. “Oh my, Count, you’re here, what are you doing here? Do you have something to say to me? Or do you need something?” He paused. I put on an overly forced smile and Daniel squinted at me as if I’d eaten something strange. I could see he was trying to decide whether or not to play along. Please adjust appropriately. I told you so. I don’t want others to know that I’m close with you! When Marie secretly looked at me with a murderous look in my eyes, and Daniel looked away. “You should come to… my room.” “Yes? Why?” “The room is so dirty. Come and clean it.” I don’t know if he’s acting or something, but he speaks more hesitantly than usual. But why are you suddenly calling me into your room? You probably didn’t call me because you really need me to clean your room. ‘Oh, I guess he has something to say.’ I nodded to indicate that I had roughly figured it out. After retrieving the bucket that had fallen down the stairs, I spoke to Marie. “I’m sorry, Marie. I’m going to do some cleaning in the Count’s room. Don’t worry too much, I’ll come over and help you as soon as I’m done. Take it easy, okay?” “Okay, thank you for your concern.” “It’s nothing” I handed the work to Marie and followed Daniel. The guy had already walked up to the second floor with long legs. On the contrary, I felt at ease because he didn’t wait for me. Click I thought about locking the door to Daniel’s room, just in case, but decided against it, thinking it would look even weirder if anyone found out. Daniel was already at the table in the bedroom.  “What? Why did you call the cleaning person?” “You said Count, Count, and then you spoke informally.” “Then, should I continue to use the honorific language? Well, I can do that since I’m an employer. I’m afraid you might find it disgusting.” As I laughed meaningfully, Daniel shook his head, saying it was horrible to imagine. Then he pointed to a table in the room. A large white box was placed on a small wooden table used as a tea table. It was a gift box tied tightly with purple string. It somehow seems meaningful.  “What’s this?” * * * It was a large box that looked like it would fill your arms if you picked it up. I held it for a moment and realized it was very light for its size. Was it clothes? I wondered for a moment. “Open it.” “Huh?” I stopped shaking the box for a moment and looked at Daniel warily. I looked back and forth between the box and Daniel. “Is this… mine?” “It’s yours, I’m not going to ask you to open it, if it’s mine.” Daniel answered as if it was obvious and gestured. In response, I released my grip on the box and glared at him. He crossed his arms at my sharp glare. “What’s with the disrespectful glare…” “No, it’s not me being rude, it’s your intentions, isn’t it?” When I raised my head proudly, he looked even more absurd. I opened my mouth without hesitation. “You said this was a gift to me, right?” “That’s true, but. Is there a problem?” “Yes, there’s a problem.” “……?” Daniel looked at me with puzzled eyes. I can’t believe I have to explain every single thing like this. I crossed my arms in front of my chest and let out an exaggerated sigh. “Daniel, I feel burdened by this. I told you so. Please don’t pretend to be friendly with me while I’m working as a maid. It’s burdensome to receive such an expensive gift.” “What?” Even though I was speaking quite seriously, Daniel’s expression became puzzled. Yes, I knew this day would come someday. Lucas was anxious to buy me something, and Colin was flirting with me every chance he got, telling me I’ll get all the perks of being his wife. Well, since Daniel is one of the male protagonists, it is understandable that he is used to expressing his feelings through material things. I am also a childhood friend of Daniel, so it’s understandable that he’s grateful and friendly to me. But I didn’t want to weigh them down with expensive gifts. Especially with Daniel, who was going to be connected to Deborah! “So I don’t want this. The only thing you can give me is overtime and incentives, not material gifts like this. I’m not a rich person like you, so I feel burdened by such an expensive gift.” I looked at Daniel with a serious expression and said. I even refused the clothes Lucas offered to buy, but I couldn’t accept a gift like this from Daniel. “Tell that to Colin and Lucas too. I know your brothers think well of me, but material things….” “Hey.” At that moment, Daniel snapped his fingers in front of me. His upper body suddenly came in front of mine. Daniel’s face was at my eye level. “Can you stop being so delusional?” “Huh?” Daniel sighed and leaned his upper body back as if he couldn’t listen anymore. It looks like he had a hard time watching my one-man show. Daniel said, pressing his eyebrows together. “It was sent by Saint Deborah, not me.” What? “Sa-saintess?” “Yeah.” … Why is Deborah suddenly? I opened my eyes wide in surprise, then looked down at the box again with a shy face. When I untied the dark purple string and opened the gift box, there was a fresh lavender bouquet inside. “It-it’s a flower.” Yes, flowers… It’s a flower. I gaped at the unexpected gift. When I was too stunned to say anything, Daniel spoke up after a short silence. “You’re so delusional. Why do you think I gave you a gift?” “…….” “What? material… things? All you can give is incentives? An overtime paycheck?” “Ugh, that’s…” “That’s ridiculous, you don’t even think about me, and you’re the one making a scene. You should be paying for the admission fee.” The guy had his arms crossed and was teasing me a lot. But there was nothing I could say. Really, it was just me who made a mistake and put on a show. Instead, I pursed my lips and took out a bouquet of flowers from the box. It was a big bouquet, so big that it felt full in my arms. I glared at Daniel, and he sighed and explained. “She said it was a gift in return for being my partner at the last party. She sent this to apologize for causing you trouble.” “Doesn’t she know I attended in exchange for debt forgiveness?” “I know, but she said it’s because you’re grateful.” After all, she is the female protagonist. Her heart is like silk. I hugged the lavender bouquet and smelled it. How long has it been since I received a flower gift? I never thought I would receive such a romantic gift from the heroine. Out of embarrassment, I cleared my throat loudly. “Hm, I guess I should send a letter to the saint to say thank you.” “Flowers are not material things. That’s nice.” “Hey, stop making fun of me. What? I did wrong?” I stomped my foot in protest, and Daniel crossed his arms and smirked. It’s a smirk on his smug face, but I don’t know why it looks so unflattering to me. ‘Ah, you called me into the room to deliver this to me. I ended up making a scene for no reason.’ I was just looking at the flower petals, feeling embarrassed, when Daniel suddenly tilted his head towards me. I could see his pitch black eyes up close. “What is this burdensome distance?” As I took a step back, his smile grew even deeper. He said proudly, pointing at the bouquet. “Looking at it, I guess she sent those flowers because they were the same color as your eyes. It’s dark purple.” Daniel took turns looking at the flowers with me and said they looked great together. Of course, even those words sounded sarcastic to my ears. “Ah, yes, I guess so. The saintess also has the same eye color as me. She and I have something in common.” Maybe that’s the only thing we have in common. I said this with a sneer, but Daniel looked at me with a strange expression on his face, wondering what he was dissatisfied with. It was as if he had been told information he did not want to hear. “Why, what else, why are you looking at me like that?” “Just. I just realized that saints have purple eyes.” What is this guy talking about? The king must have let them meet fifteen times to get him hooked up with Deborah. Are you finally aware that she has purple eyes? Does that make sense? ‘… Should I call this indifference or lack of courtesy between people?’ Nonsense. If this kind of thing is indifferent, perhaps the seeds of indifference have dried up. But what about Deborah’s previous comment? ‘Deborah said she thought Daniel was thinking of me when he looked at her eyes….’ Does that mean that Daniel only used Deborah as a tool to think about myself and showed no interest in the rest? Until now, it seems that Daniel has not even considered Deborah as a person of the opposite gender. Maybe he just saw her as an old tree on the side of the road. Or perhaps a mountain bird that reminds him of someone he knows? ‘Is such a thought circuit possible? Is it even possible to connect Deborah to this guy?’ The more I think about it, the more frustrated I get. It was clear that the writer would feel betrayed if they found out that the male protagonist they created was like this.
