Chapter 411
“Hehehe.”
Millia, who was snuggled up on my lap, smiled cutely while leaning against my body. We’re technically a couple now, but she still looks so much like a child. Not that I’m single anymore.
…But does it even matter?
“Johann, look over there! It’s the snow mountain!”
“It’s so tall… Uncle, have you ever taken a picture from the top?”
“Well, that was already two years ago.”
Back then, I was desperate to catch Harpas. Climbing the snow mountain risking my life and receiving blessings from the Phoenix.
“I wonder how that Wendigo is doing.”
“Wendigo? Who is that?”
“Don’t tell me it’s a girl?”
My wives gave me a slightly suspicious look. Even if I had a lot of admirers, a Wendigo…
“Not sure if it even has a gender. It was about the size of Millia’s head.”
Was it not? Maybe it was bigger?
It’s been nearly two years since I saw it, so I can hardly remember the size. To be honest, it was a bit unusual, but it was more like a spirit I just ran into.
“Not a person?”
“It’s a spirit… although it can be a bit of a troublemaker. It’s like a puppy, so you’ll get used to it quickly.”
“Right! It was a puppy-like thing!”
Rue seemed to recall it just now, responding excitedly. I was wondering why she was quiet; looks like she forgot who the Wendigo was.
“A puppy?”
“I think you would like it if you saw it.”
It also has a look that women might like. Since Millia loves animals, I figured she’d probably get along with it immediately.
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“I want to see it too!”
“So do I~.”
“Johann, by the way, I’m a bit cold… could you warm me up a little more?”
Is it just me, or is she sensitive to the cold? I’ve been keeping the temperature warm on purpose.
I took Sif’s hand and infused it with the Power of the Phoenix. Maybe because of the warm energy, Sif melted down like a cat lying on a warm floor.
Definitely acts like a cat.
So, we were riding in the carriage, headed to the snow mountain, all in a cheerful atmosphere.
I had to keep the promise of the graduation trip we had planned.
Originally, I wanted to take a portal, but after hearing it’s not good for pregnant women, we naturally switched to a carriage trip.
My wives also preferred to travel slowly by carriage rather than jumping straight into a portal, so I made a large carriage to minimize bumps, kicking off our graduation trip and honeymoon.
The first destination, as mentioned earlier, is the snow mountain.
We’d have to climb the snow mountain ourselves… but there should be no landslide this time, and even if there is, I can stop it, so there’s no problem.
Getting to the top is definitely no easy task, but I had set up some igloos along the way, so we could rest there.
There are only eight people, but expanding the space isn’t an issue at all.
So the time to worry about that kind of thing has passed.
“Hehehe, I’m so looking forward to the snow mountain~.”
“Ugh, snow mountain. I really didn’t think I’d actually come here.”
“Renny, you shouldn’t overdo it, alright?”
“Don’t worry, Karina. You know I’m tough. Plus, I have a husband next to me who can handle emergencies…”
“Nothing will happen, so don’t worry.”
“Fufu, with Johann here, nothing will go wrong.”
Karina smiled softly and wrapped her arms around mine. I rested my hand comfortably on Karina’s thigh and gave it a gentle stroke. There are perks to being married.
No need to be shy about physical affection.
“That’s right~.”
Elisa chimed in, wrapping her arm around the other side. It seems like we often end up sitting this way wherever we go—Millia perched on my lap, and Elisa and Karina snugly against me.
And then the rest just looking at me?
I don’t know what agreement occurred among the ladies, but until now, they’ve all been getting along without any problems. I was a little concerned about having six women, but they seemed to manage it well.
“Look over there! It’s the snow mountain!”
“Really?”
“Millia, be careful not to stand up.”
I looked at the back of Millia and Viola, who were glued to the window to see outside.
When did they get close? They were chatting and giggling about the snow mountain, discussing whether pouring syrup on the snow would turn it into shaved ice, or where would be a good spot for a screenshot—tiny conversations reminiscent of schoolmates filled the carriage.
“I want to go inside the igloo that Johann made too…”
“Don’t worry. You can even take a nap in the igloo.”
“Johann said the igloo would be warm!”
“Exactly! Super warm!”
At the very least, it should be warmer than outside. I’m not sure how it works, but do we really need to know the details? We can just enjoy it.
I took in the serene yet noisy atmosphere, gazing out at the scenery outside.
I’m thinking of maybe building a cabin here someday.
Since I know the snow mountain isn’t owned by anyone, it shouldn’t be a problem building a cabin near the middle or top. But, is that going too far? It seems too tedious to travel back and forth.
It would be hard to hire people to manage it too.
I could have the Wendigo take care of it, but… I doubt such a Wendigo would handle it well.
It’s probably best to just visit and leave it as a memory.
After the snow mountain trip, we’ll stop at the sea in the south, and sunbathe in the eastern forest area… it feels like our graduation trip is getting too long, but since it’s also a honeymoon trip, it wouldn’t be strange.
“I never imagined I’d be traveling with Johann like this.”
“Right? Graduation felt so far…”
“I was so busy that I didn’t even realize. Suddenly, I found myself at the wedding venue.”
“You were super busy, Johann.”
The pre-war aftermath was incredibly hectic. Restoring the ruined environment, making suitable compensations for the allied forces that helped us, and distributing merits from the royal family… I had so much to prepare for a year-long honeymoon trip.
But now that’s all in the past, I can just relax and enjoy the trip.
“Ugh, but being in this carriage for so long is making me restless.”
“Once we get to the Wendigo Village at the foot of the snow mountain, you’ll be able to move around freely, so just hang in there until then.”
“How much longer?”
“A half day.”
The carriage is moving via a golem designed to look like a cloudy horse, so it’s a bit faster, but it’s still a carriage. It cannot go beyond a certain speed, so we couldn’t greatly reduce travel time.
“A half day… I guess I’ll take a nap.”
Renny took a blanket out from the drawer she made beneath the carriage seat and wrapped it around herself. Since the only other thing to do is chat, it seemed like she was really planning to nap.
If she sleeps like that, it’ll be hard to sleep at night.
But then again, does it even matter?
It’s easy enough to let her fall asleep.
“Hehe, looks like Renny was quite bored.”
“It may be a pretty spacious carriage, but it’s still a carriage, after all.”
Karina smiled affectionately while resting her head on my shoulder.
A peaceful scene during our journey.
I savored the warmth that would someday turn into a memory.
—————-
“It’s like a fairy tale!”
Millia’s shout as she jumped out of the carriage made me smile involuntarily.
It felt like watching a pure-hearted child express pure joy. She’ll be a mom next year, but… there’s nothing wrong with being childlike.
But if Millia is holding a baby… is that a baby holding a baby?
Imagining that scenario made my heart a bit complicated. I didn’t plan on getting her pregnant.
“It’s really beautiful…”
“What unique buildings…”
“It feels romantic, doesn’t it, Uncle?”
“Yeah.”
“But is there a place for us to stay?”
Karina looked up at me and asked. Her concern wasn’t strange; with eight of us, it wouldn’t be easy to find suitable accommodations.
It’s hard to find a place that can hold this many people even in a big city.
Especially since this large group, excluding Rue, is connected by the title of couples, so they probably wouldn’t want to be separated from me. Of course, I had thoughts about this.
“If there isn’t one, we’ll just make one.”
“…That’s true. Hehe.”
Karina smiled at me, looking like she realized she was worrying unnecessarily. A warm smile.
“I’m so excited.”
“Don’t get your hopes up too high. I’m not putting a lot of effort into a place we’ll only stay one night.”
I planned to build a decently plausible exterior and put more effort into the interior.
Considering we’re building on bare ground, things like luxury facilities are out of the question, but I thought I’d at least make it look like people live there with various setups.
A suitable brazier and a brazier that could evoke a camping vibe. And a bed made from the leather we brought in the carriage.
As for the location… I thought I’d choose a spot with a good view of the snow mountain.
“Millia! Rue! Let’s go build our home first, don’t wander off!”
“Okay!”
“Got it!”
“Oh, before I go…”
“No alcohol, Renny.”
Renny’s shoulders drooped.
I understand her desire to drink alcohol from the village at the foot of the snow mountain, but she has to hold off for now. She’s pregnant.
“Hehe, snow! Snow~”
“Oh, it’s cold…”
“Just bear with it a little longer, Sif.”
“Ugh…”
We’d need to start looking for a spot to build soon.
And so, our journey to find the perfect spot began.
