Chapter 412
“Looks like this will do.”
After a long tour of the area, I decided on an open space a bit away from the village. To be honest, for an ordinary person, this would be a dangerous place with wild beasts lurking nearby…
But we had done too grand of things so far to be scared of mere beasts.
We had already explored dungeons, beat up demons, tackled gods, and even caught outsiders to make them our slaves.
So now, are we really afraid of a wild beast?
If a bear suddenly came crashing in, it would be like the neighborhood puppy rolling over and surrendering—if it didn’t, I’d just skin it for bed sheets. Bring it on if you dare.
“Johann! Look! It’s a fox!”
“So cute…”
“It seems like the animal friends came to greet us~”
A fox, whether it found scraps of food or just came to visit, was showing off in front of Millia, catching the attention of all the women. Since we had nothing to do while building the house, letting them play with the fox would do just fine.
I stood in front of the open space with my arms crossed.
I had run some simulations in my head, but it was important to double-check once I actually started building.
“Uncle, are you making a house?”
“Yep.”
“Wow, so you’re saying a house will suddenly appear in the open space? That sounds like a fairytale! I used to read those fairytale books a lot…”
When I looked at Viola, she had an oddly excited expression. Is she somewhat hopeful? Then I had to meet her expectations.
I envisioned a more fairytale-like mansion in my mind.
First, a chimney, glass-like transparency, and, well, adding this and that…
“Crafting.”
With my one word, the ground started shaking.
What I was making wasn’t a small item but a mansion-sized building, so it was a good thing the ground was affected. I used the blessing of the World Tree to stabilize the surrounding land, also binding the land of the village along with it.
I didn’t want any problems to arise in the village because of me.
Fortunately, no significant troubles arose until the mansion was completed. As soon as the translucent ice mansion was finished, I immediately turned to look at Viola.
“Wow…”
“What do you think?”
“It’s amazing!”
Viola bounced with sparkling eyes and hugged my neck. Feeling her lovely touch on my cheek, I embraced Viola’s waist and returned the gesture with a kiss.
“Mmm…”
“What! That’s unfair! I want one too!”
“…How about we just look at the mansion?”
Viola was so cute I lost control for a moment. I blushed, glancing at her while the other wives approached, seemingly finished with their meeting with the fox.
“This will be our home.”
“More like… a mansion, isn’t it?”
“It’s awesome…”
“Can we see outside from here?”
“You can see outside from the inside, but it’s designed so that the outside can’t see in.”
It’s not like I’m doing a design presentation; I could manage this with some calculations on refraction and stuff.
“How fascinating.”
“But it still feels a bit embarrassing…”
“It’s fine. No one else will come here.”
We are safe, but that doesn’t mean others are safe.
Right now, the bear lurking in the woods could rampage to its heart’s content if it doesn’t sense us. That bear would block off any humans on its own.
What if it doesn’t?
Then I’ll make it.
“Let’s go in and take a look around.”
“Okay!”
“Millia! Don’t run! You might get hurt!”
“I’m fine!”
“I want to go too!”
Fine, whatever.
I chuckled as I watched Millia and Rue rush through the translucent door I opened. Their actions were just too cute. Should I say they’re like naive little kids?
Surprisingly, this was the former student council president of Kalon Academy. Millia delivered the graduation speech, and judging by the enthusiastic response from the students, she must have done well…
But looking at her like this, I just can’t believe it.
“Just like Johann said, I really can’t see Millia.”
“It’s true.”
“How did you know about this, Uncle?”
“I just learned it through experience.”
“Got it~”
“Let’s head in slowly; I’m cold…”
“Let’s hurry and warm up. But is it warm…?”
“It should be warmer than outside at least.”
We chatted as we stepped into the mansion. Once inside, a pleasantly warm breeze and various decorations made of snow caught my eyes.
Hmm, maybe I should get design proposals next time.
“Look, a snowman…”
“Do you like snowmen, Uncle?”
“…That’s the only thing that came to mind with snow.”
To be honest, my aesthetic sense might be lacking a bit. But that’s because I only got to see things like that for ten years on a deserted island.
If I had lived normally, my aesthetic sense would be better by now.
Of course, I probably would have died before improving it.
I looked over at Renny, who was fiddling with the snowman, feeling a strange bitterness.
“This is quite sturdy… ah.”
“Think about your strength.”
Renny awkwardly smiled with a clueless expression, staring at the snowman with several finger holes in it. It seemed she found the snowman quite fascinating.
“Let’s go to the master bedroom to unpack our things.”
“Hehe, I’m so excited.”
“It won’t be as flashy as you think.”
“But it’s a room made by Johann, it’ll definitely be amazing.”
Karina smiled and hugged my arm. The warm feeling came naturally. I started walking down the corridor with my arms filled with my wives.
Even though the corridor wasn’t that long…
“Here it is.”
“Wow, the door is as big as the huge door!”
“Well, it has to be this size for seven people to stay.”
“Seven people?”
“Rue has her own room.”
“Ah…”
At the very least, she’s not coming in with that body. Even if I am a lustful man, I at least know what to hide and what not to. No matter what, Rue is still a child.
I’m already on the verge of being recorded in history as a famous lecher on the continent; do I need another one?
Honestly, adding one more wouldn’t change anything, but I feel bad for my wives.
Rue is treated like a pet anyway.
Since she got her body, she has been a bit mischievous, but still, I felt a bigger sense of rejection about this.
“Let’s head in now!”
Instead of me, Renny opened the door. The door moved smoothly without a single creak, revealing the sight of the master bedroom I had created.
“Wow… it’s really like something out of a fairytale.”
“There are so many snowmen…”
“That thing hanging from the ceiling looks scary. I feel like I’d get hit if it fell while I was sleeping.”
“Look at the bed! It’s huge! But it looks really cold…”
“We can warm it up with the furs we brought.”
I immediately took out the furs from the bag and covered the ice bed. After a short bit of work, the multicolored bed was soon completed.
This looks pretty good.
“I’ve never slept on animal skins before.”
Elisa seemed intrigued, stroking the furs on the bed. Is it really fascinating? It’s just animal skins, not that special.
“Johann, what’s the plan for dinner? We can’t light a fire here.”
“Don’t worry about that. There’s a human brazier here.”
“…You’re probably the only one who would use a phoenix’s fire for cooking.”
“Well, I am the only one who can.”
It’s not like a phoenix would hold a frying pan and cook.
“Wow! Is this the master bedroom?”
“Millia, did you enjoy looking around?”
“Yep! The snowmen were so cute!”
“Right? But there are many here too?”
Rue, who entered right after, squealed with joy and approached the snowmen. Were they just there to be looked at? I turned my gaze away from that and watched our group pull out items from the bag.
Are they changing clothes?
Since dinner time was nearing, that made perfect sense. I pulled out a massive blanket I had prepared from the bag and threw it onto the bed.
“We can all cover ourselves with the blanket to sleep.”
“Hehe.”
“Is the bed going to melt while we sleep?”
“It’s not that poorly designed. Unless I melt it myself, it shouldn’t melt easily, so don’t worry.”
“Ugh. So where will we have dinner?”
“Crafting.”
I subtly expanded the room. In the newly widened center of the room, a stove made of stone and earth appeared.
“How about we create a camping atmosphere and enjoy an outdoor meal for a change?”
“I wouldn’t mind.”
“But it seems far from camping already, doesn’t it? Where’s the camping when we’re sleeping in a place like this?”
“Sif, think of this as camping in its own way. We can enjoy a meal while taking in the outdoors, right?”
“…I guess that’s true.”
Being cute, huh? I patted Sif’s ears once and set the phoenix’s flames in the brazier. After a little while, the room began to warm up, unlike it being made of ice.
“How fascinating~”
“It’s not cold at all sitting on the ice, it feels great.”
“Hehe, dinner, dinner~”
Without anyone having to say who should go first, we gathered around the brazier to begin preparing dinner. The ingredients were high-quality vegetables and jerky we had brought from the capital, cooked into a stew. And some soft bread and butter as sides.
“I’ll take care of dinner today.”
“Wow~ It’s been a long time since I had Johann’s cooking!”
“Hehe, I’m looking forward to it.”
“Me too~”
I began cooking dinner in the pleasantly warm atmosphere.
