I was reborn into a fantasy world

Chapter 8: CH 8: Quiet day

[The next day]

Today was a normal morning, in a way I woke up more relieved as if I had finished something very heavy for me, well, I actually had, but I hadn't completed everything I wanted to do.

Despite having completed the library, I still need to organize my memories and destroy my old house, but for now I'm not going to worry about that, I'll take some time off from all this in my mental space.

"Okay, Kiel, that's it for now, we can continue at night if you want" - Roxy said as she closed her big book, ending the day's class.

Today, as always, Roxy gave me her classes on magic and anything else that came to her mind to teach me, she really doesn't just focus on teaching me about magic, but also about many experiences she's had in her life.

I mean, now I see why Rudeus had so much respect for her.

"Okay, Master Roxy" - I nodded as I got up from the chair I was sitting in.

After that she said goodbye and went out for her daily walk through the village, I simply went to my room to think about my next plans.

'I think it's time to go back to my studies with the grimoire' - I thought, to be more focused on building my mental library, I had to stop studying and practicing new magic from the grimoire.

Of course I reviewed and perfected what I already knew, but I didn't learn anything new, although in a way it helped me improve my control with the spells I already knew.

Although I haven't tried to manipulate pure mana yet, I think I need a more focused approach on that and I think that after finishing everything in my mental space it would be a good time to learn to manipulate my pure mana more.

And I'm not talking about manipulating my mana like in those series, that's pretty hard to do. Sure, it's difficult but not impossible, although I still need a few years of training to be able to manipulate my mana with precision.

Now I'm just using crutches as they would say, being the magic circles and the chant, although I can do low-level magic without reciting a chant, but that's thanks to my rank up, not because of me.

I was just barely learning to shorten the chant of the spells, I was on the right track, but after ascending I simply don't need it anymore, I really don't know how that works, in the grimoire there's no reference to that either, since this is more of this world.

But now I have an idea...

'What if I teach Roxy that I can do silent magic and teach her how to do it, wouldn't that make her stronger?' - in the original Roxy was very envious of Rudeus for being able to do silent magic with ease, if I remember correctly, she only managed to learn to shorten the spells, but not to do silent magic.

If I teach him from now on, then I have no doubt that in a few years he will be able to cast silent magic.

'Well, I think I'll do that...' - I thought finally, this will be my way of thanking her for teaching me so much.

Of course, just that, I won't teach her anything I've learned from the grimoire. She's earned my trust after all this time, but she hasn't reached that level yet.

Well... Having thought all that, I think it's time for my daily outing too.

One thing I've been doing these months is taking a daily walk through the village, that became a kind of relaxation moment for me, looking at the village, its plains and the forests became a very relaxing activity that helped me escape for a while from my training to become stronger.

That and besides two days off that I decided to give Roxy and Paul, which they agreed to and so I have two free days for myself, although I still used them to train in the magic of the grimoire.

But more than training it's like the hobby I picked up, doing magic without any other intention than just having fun, even though that helps me control my mana and improve my control with some spells.

"Oh? Hi Kiel" - then a voice took me out of my thoughts as I walked aimlessly through the village.

I looked and saw that it was a tall man with light brown hair and elf ears, this was Paul's friend and Sylphiette's father, Laws.

I looked and realized that behind his feet was what looked like a child with green hair and elf ears, although I realized that it was actually a girl, of course this was Sylphiette.

"Oh, hello Mr. Laws, nice to see you" - I greeted politely as I approached them.

I had met Laws a while ago, a few weeks after I started my daily walks.

"I see you're still lost in thought as always, Kiel" - he commented as he put his hand on my head.

I didn't say anything, he's a very kind person, so I don't want to seem like a rude kid.

"Oh, by the way, let me introduce you to my daughter, Sylphiette" - he said remembering the little elf girl who was hiding behind him. - "Sylphy, he's Paul's son I told you about, Kiel"

"Hi, nice to meet you" - I greeted with a smile at the girl, without trying to extend my hand since seeing her I can tell she's still afraid of people.

"H-hi" - After a while, she gathered the courage to respond.

Her father let out a small sigh, but even so while putting his hand on her head, he spoke. - "I hope you get along and can become friends"

"Don't worry, if she doesn't mind, then I'd like to be her friend" - I replied like a good person, thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to make friends with her.

Besides the fact that she basically has great magical potential thanks to her Laplace factor, it would be good for me to have someone to get along with, needless to say that the kids here are pretty stupid.

Not just because they're kids, but they're literally idiots.

"Well, that's good" - he replied with a smile, seeming quite happy.

After that and a brief exchange of words, everyone went their own way. Of course, but not before Laws makes me and Sylphiette promise to have a play date in a few days.

If I didn't know that Laws just wants his daughter to have a friend, I wouldn't doubt that he was trying to pair us up.

I after a while of walking returned to my house, had lunch and after resting a while I started doing my daily exercises while Paul returned from his guard duty.

[Night]

"Welcome back, Master Roxy" - I greeted Roxy as if I hadn't seen her a while ago when we had dinner and I stepped aside for her to enter.

She for her part sighed as she entered, already used to my words when she arrived at night to teach me.

"Well, Master Roxy, before we start with your teachings, I want to show you something." - I told Roxy before she started talking.

"Mmm? What will it be Kiel?" - She asked with a glimmer of curiosity in her eyes, normally I just keep quiet after she enters and starts with her class and I only start asking questions later.

"Well, you said in one of our first classes that you couldn't do magic without reciting the chant, right?" - I said and I saw her nod, but before she could answer, I continued. - "Then after that, I was practicing that in secret and look what I can do now..."

I then raised my hand with my palm facing up and summoned a ball of water, then looked up and looked at her astonished face.

"What do you think, now I can do basic magic without a chant, isn't it cool" - I smiled like an idiot while ignoring the shock on Roxy's face.

'Yeah, the best idea I could have had' - I thought and in these moments I wished I had had a camera to record this moment.

No, wait, now I have my mental space where I can see my memories, right? So basically I just became a walking recorder, hehe.

"Y-you, you... H-how can you do that?" - oh? Eh, it seems she finally reacted.

"Mmm? Well, Master, it was by practicing a lot" - I replied of course, but then I decided to get serious and said. - "Well, you said that, right? Well, since that day I've been practicing to do silent magic, I have to say that without much success to be honest"

I saw her nod like a look of "I understand, but at the same time I don't", then I continued. - "But after failing so much and almost giving up, I decided that instead of trying to do silent magic from the beginning, that the best thing would be to shorten the spells little by little, one word at a time until finally doing it without saying a word."

"That's how I finally did it, though only with beginner level spells," I concluded while emphasizing the floating water ball in my hand.

Of course I told a version similar to what happened to me before I ranked up

"Oh? I think I can see a depressing aura surrounding Roxy, well, even without seeing it, I can see how her face changed to one that said something like 'What have I been doing all this time with my life'." "I need to get her out of that state."

"That's why, Master, you're the first person I'm showing this to, if it weren't for you I wouldn't have decided to try" - I said, getting her attention, making her look at me, and then I looked at her directly, and continued. - "So with that in mind and in gratitude for teaching me so much, I would like to teach you how to do silent magic, please? Of course if you accept, it's not obligatory"

I said and I could see how she fell into depression again, it seems that me wanting to teach her hit her hard in her holy mage pride, well, it doesn't matter if Roxy were the kind of person who would stop that, then she wouldn't be Roxy.

I could hear Roxy mumble something like "if you put it that way how could I refuse or even feel depressed because my student surpassed me", but then she raised her voice and said - "I... (Sigh), of course Kiel, I would like to learn how to do silent magic"

And just like that, I had my first student. And it turned out she was also my teacher! How crazy is that? No?

====≠====≠====

I had finished writing this chapter and I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to upload it so I'm going to upload it now.

By the way, I'm going to try to write longer chapters, because if I keep going like this I think I'll get to chapter 20 before he even thinks about leaving the town.

So I hope you liked it and if there are any mistakes please let me know.
